Description

Our Brittany Gite is a converted 100+ year old typical French farmhouse, constructed from stone and slate, that we've carefully renovated to become a relaxing, comfortable and tranquil vacation rental that will be exclusively for your use for your stay with us.

The farmhouse oozes original property features such as a massive oak beamed ceiling, wood burning open log fire, and traditional tiled floors. We've also added family 'home from home' touches with Sky satellite TV, French TV, DVD, Playstation 3 and board-games in the lounge, full central heating and a fitted kitchen with microwave, double oven, halogen hob and even children's plates and cutlery for the little ones!

In the garden is a large west/south facing patio area with BBQ and outside table for outdoor meals, a spacious 15 foot outdoor pool and an enclosed garden with fruit trees, toys, bicycles and a climbing frame.

The Gite is in a small hamlet of just five houses in the centre of Brittany, equidistant from the North and South Brittany coasts - both about 40 minutes drive away. There are plenty of historic towns and villages to explore, mediaeval Josselin is just 15 minutes drive, the Nantes/Brest canal is equally close, Napoleon's Pontivy is 20 minute, the UNESCO world heritage Mont St Michel is an hour away, as are many other attractions within this beautiful part of North-West France.

You can reach our Gite by Ferry from the UK or Ireland or flight to Rennes, Nantes or Paris itself is only 3 hours drive.

“TLC!”

This gite is lovely, in a beautiful setting and quiet hamlet near the town of Le Chèze, the property is characterful and spacious. There are quick links to supermarkets and local shops and restaurants but some close for the end of August and beginning of September. Be sure to visit Josselin and Lac Du Duc for watersports. The outside space is a winner in this gite, the grounds are extensive and attractive, however, the gardens are very overgrown and have gone back to the wild! The pool is great to have, we had to clean and chlorinate this ourselves as there isn’t a cover and the chemicals stored in the barn were empty. The instructions in the black book are also incorrect. Every item stored in the barn needed extensive cleaning as it is an open barn and there are no cushions for the loungers. The adult bikes (when cleaned) were seized and chains rusted, the kids bikes had stuck brakes, we pumped the tyres and tried to get them going, no luck! Inside, the kitchen has great facilities and is well stocked with crockery etc, the external glass door and control panel are missing from the oven which means it’s un-useable - the glass could shatter at any time. This should have been identified as out of use until replaced as it’s very unsafe. The tv and DVDs are fab, the suite is old and uncomfortable sadly. Upstairs, the rooms are comfortable and well furnished, they would benefit from fans as due to many flies and wasps you can’t sleep with open windows. The velux blind in the main room is badly broken. The two single beds move when in use, it’s rather dangerous and my friend’s little boy fell out of bed when it moved away from the wall. Take care with this! We had a great week, we love this part of France and the owner was happy to text when we couldn’t find something. It’s a beautiful property and great value, we just feel it needs a bit of TLC and of course this is just our opinion. Lovely

Response from the owner Thank you for your feedback. The front of the oven unfortunately had broken a week before your stay and I hadn't been able to replace it before you arrived. You'll be pleased to know that the oven was replaced soon after you, as has the fridge, the velux blind has been replaced and we have stepped up the gardening.
