“The Captains Cabin was an unforgetable experience of a lifetime”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2015

Our son is from NYS and got hired as a customs officer in Calais,Maine back in October. After doing some research he found Captains Cabin and stayed for one month before heading off for training. He sent us pictures and facetimed us trying to explain the beauty of this gem. We as parents felt so relieved knowing that this angel Captain Lou took him under his wing and provided him with all the comforts of home. This past weekend my husband and I went to visit our son and the three of us rented the Captains Cabin for a long weekend. This cabin is spotless and extremely comfortable. This was the most beautiful, relaxing and peaceful place we have ever experienced (and we do ALOT of traveling). Lou went out of his way to make sure that everything was perfect and it was. He took us out lobstering, gave us a tour of the St. Croix River and gave us so much history and interesting information about the area. I mentioned that I would love to see a seal and before you know it we were back out for a boat ride to see the seals!!! I would absolutely give this cabin a 10+ and would highly recommend it for an unforgetable experience of a lifetime.

“Great place to relax and unwind!”

Stayed here the first part of July and didn't want to leave when my week was up. Cabin is brand new and spotless. Perfect for 1 or 2 people. The whole experience was very easy. Could have taken day trips to area points of interest, however I chose to just relax, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy all the sights and sounds of the St. Croix river.

“Absolutely stunning views!!”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2013

My 8 year old son and I spent the last week of June at the Captains's Cabin. It's a wonderful little cabin with absolutely stunning views!!! During low tide, you can view the beautiful rocky coastline of the St. Croix river while beach combing for sea glass and shells. We spent hours down on the beach looking for treasures and lifting up seaweed and rocks in hopes to find little green crabs!! During high tide, the water comes right up to the edge of the cabin...it almost feels like your on a house boat!! We loved being greeted by a family of ducks that would swim by the window every morning. One day during low tide, we even saw a couple of deer down on the beach!! We enjoyed our days relaxing and taking some trips to Eastport, Maine and to St. Andrews, New Brunswick in Canada (don't forget your passports!!). At night, we had bonfires on the beach and made s'mores!! The owner is very gracious and quickly provided us with anything we needed. The trip on his lobster boat was my son's favorite!! He enjoyed watching Captain Louis pull his traps and eagerly waited to see if there would be a lobster in one...he loved it!!! The Captain's Cabin is a wonderful place to stay if you want to experience Maine and all it has to offer. We loved it and can't wait to stay there again next year!!
