“A lovely house in a sublime setting”
We loved this farmhouse, which has been intelligently restored and very nicely decorated. Our family was gathered for a wedding - held in another of the Rowley Estates properties - and the house accommodated eight of us very easily, particularly as each of the extremely comfortable bedrooms has its own bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed using the Aga, although there is a conventional oven and a microwave there too. The situation of the house is spectacular, looking out over the fells beside Ullswater, and the outside space has been designed to take full advantage of the setting: there is a terrace and a grassy garden which were hard to leave behind, even in the soft rain. The large, good quality, TV went down very well with the younger members of the family and the dog enjoyed gazing wistfully at the Herdwick lamb, which, curious, squeezed through the gate most mornings before being shooed back into its field. There is little that we didn't like: some of the terrace furniture is a bit rickety and the internet slowed down to a stop when we were all using it at the same time. There really is NO mobile phone reception, but there is a landline, which was a real advantage. The nearest food shop is quite a long way down the mountain and this should be borne in mind; we anticipated this somewhat and had a Tesco delivery (heroic, to get his van up those hairpin bends), but didn't order quite enough and ended up begging a 'mountain rescue' of eggs and potatoes from the extremely kind ladies of the Howtown Inn, just down the road. Next time, we'll stock up with provisions at the wonderful Tebay farm shop on the M6 just before/after Penrith. Dealing with Christine and Jilly over the booking and logistics was a pleasure. We felt very well looked after by them both and much look forward to returning to the house one day soon.
Response from the manager Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. We are all really pleased that you all enjoyed your stay at Hause Hall and found it to be very comfortable. It's good to hear that you appreciated looking out on spectacular views of the fells and not forgetting the Herdwick sheep! “Beautiful house in an amazing setting”
We spent last weekend at Hause Hall to celebrate my fathers birthday. The house is beautiful with everything that you need provided for. There was a lovely welcome hamper for us on our arrival. The position of the house is great, by Lake Ullswater, with great views of the fells. I will definitely be returning.
Response from the manager Hi thank you for taking the time to get in touch after your stay at Hause Hall Farm. We never even turn on the TV when we are there just preferring to watch the weather come over the fells and the ever changing scenery in the valleys. We hope to have the chance to welcome you all again sometime soon! With our best wishes, Christine, Charlie and Jilly
We came for 3 nights to celebrate my 70th birthday. Accommodation superb. want to return as soon as we can fix up a convenient date for everyone. The welcome hamper was very generous and both the Hall and the Barn were lovely and warm. The table was wonderful for such a big party, room for everyone plus a few more if needed and the family room was loved by everyone

“Stunning property, Incredible location, fantastic communication”
Myself and 9 friends stayed at Hause Hall in July 2014. Everything about our stay was perfect. The Hall is absolutely stunning. We literally could not believe how well put together the property was. The location was also perfect, with plenty of local hills to hike and the famous walking route round nearby Ullswater. We were especially impressed at the little touches - such as the welcome hamper that was waiting for us when we arrived. I would like to thank Christine, Charles and Jilly for their excellent, friendly and helpful communication throughout the booking and our stay. Less than 2-3 hours into our first day and we had already begun planning our return next year!
Response from the manager Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to provide a review for Hause Hall. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit and also the glorious weather we have had this July. We hope that we may have a chance to welcome you back again soon. Best Regards, Christine, Charlie and Jilly
“Amazing holiday made completely relaxing by a wonderful place with fantastic views”
This was an amazing find, there were 10 of us and we all found the sun room to be the main point of the house, the views are amazing from dusk until dawn. The house itself is just luxury and the kitchen is a chef's dream. There are many many walks fit for people of all fitness levels ( I myself have never done a mountain walk and actually managed a 3 hour one on this trip!) The only criticism I have is that the only downstairs bedroom doesn't have disabled facilities in the bathroom area, this particular guest needed help to get out of the bath and wasn't able to stand in the shower without some hand rails. However, don't let this put you off this amazing house. It's truly magical and I'd go back in a heartbeat.
“Wonderful house, magnificent setting, a walkers paradise.”
Hause Hall Farm has something for everyone. With ages 9 - 86 in our party, we can honestly say we all enjoyed ourselves. the oldies enjoyed short walks and sitting in the sun room marvelling at the beautiful view, the younger ones scrambling up and down the hill behind the house, whilst the others took advantage of the many walks from the doorstep. Congratulations to the owners for their thoughtfulness in everything, a spotlessly clean, well equipped, very homely house.
This five star restoration is in the heart of the Lake district. Hugh master bedroom, large kitchen with aga luxury bathroom and amazing views from the day room. Great walks right out from the front door. As an engineer it was nice to see the use of renewable energy in the ground source heat pump.
“Stunning location, excellent accommodation”
My husband and I attended a 30th birthday celebration at Hause Hall. The farm house is set in an extraordinary location above Ullswater, with stunning inland views from a glass day room. The property is immaculately presented and has a careful balance of modern comfort mixed with old-world charm. A lovely place to stay; we would recommend.
