“Great and unforgettable holiday”

Reviewed 23 Nov 2014

We loved to stay in this wonderful place. We enjoyed the quite neighbourhood, the well equiped kitchen, the spacious rooms and clean bathrooms, the beautiful swimming-pool, the tennis court, the lovely towns in the environment… We were three families holidaying in this wonderful villa with our children, ages 8-15. We all enjoyed it equally, parents and children (also teenagers!!) The villa is a gorgeously restored convent, perfectly equipped, at 1 km from Panicale which is a small and delightful walled village hill top village just south of Lake Trasimeno, pretty and... not over run with tourists. Katia (the rental manager) was wonderful and very discrete, helpful and attentive! Alesio, his parents and his brother (the owners) are just charming and enchanting people. And "la cucina de la Nona" Maria Luisa is delicious and unforgettable (taste pasta con tartufo!) We also loved a lot the olive oil, the rosato and the red wines (own production!!!!). Actually we took several bottles to our country. We discovered even that there is private chapel with lovely frescoes! In short, a amazing place with everything you would want and more. The only problem : you will want to stay longer than you planed!

“Perfect for a family holiday”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2014

La Querciolana, a converted convent with lovely mediaeval stone buildings, comprises five suites, all of which we booked for our 17-member extended family group. Three of the suites, sleeping four each, are in a row with a common veranda/terrace, & are suitable for up to three groups of family or friends. The other two, sleeping respectively five & two or three, are at a short distance, also from each other, & could be booked independently. Furniture & fittings, including kitchens, are all fine, & every suite was spotlessly clean when we moved in. The property is five minutes' drive from Panicale, a delightful walled village, where basic necessities can be bought. A wider range of foodstuffs &c. is available in Chiusi or Tavernelle, 20--30 minutes' drive away. La Querciolana has its own vineyard, & its very drinkable wine is on sale, at reasonable rates, to guests & others. Nonna Luisa & her son Guelfo were charming & non-intrusive hosts. Guelfo speaks a little English, & Nonna Luisa will cook dinner for up to 20 given a day's notice. Altogether, if you're thinking of a family holiday in the hills of Umbria, half an hour's drive from Lake Trasimene, I don't see that you could do better than La Querciolana.

“Wonderful accommodation in beautiful setting!”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2014

What a wonderful week we had at La Querciolana in lovely accommodation and a beautiful setting. The apartments are spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The swimming pool is huge and very clean with lovely sun beds. The tennis court was a big hit with both the young and old with several tournaments being held. The family are all so nice and very helpful. and the food at the restaurant was very tasty! Katia who looks after the rental of La Querciolana was lovely and extremely helpful. We will definitely be back!

“Wonderful stay”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2014

Dear Katja, thank you very much. You have always been very helpful and very quick in responding to our questions. We had a wonderful stay at La Querciolana with the whole Family, a group of 20. We found everything in perfect order. The owners were very friendly and did everthing to make our stay memorable. The pool was very big and the children had a lot of fun playing and swimming. The food was great and so was the wine. We will definitely recommend La Querciolana to our friends. Best wishes Annette

“Amazing views, wonderful accommodations”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2013

We were thrilled with our accommodations at La Querciolana in Panicale! The pictures on their website give an idea of how beautiful it is, but in reality it's even better. There were no other guests that week, and we were encouraged to treat the property as our own (The owners live in a separate house on the property). There are vineyards and olive orchards; there is even a small private chapel with lovely frescoes. The photos here were taken on the property but give very little idea how breath-taking the scenery is from the balcony just outside your door. We loved the olive oil, the Rosato and the red wines produced at La Querciolana, so much that every day or two we went downstairs to the cantina to buy more wine; so convenient, and very reasonably priced. We cooked several dinners in our kitchen; it had everything we could have needed. We stocked up at the supermarket in Tavernelle; then the small grocery in Panicale provide everything else, including wonderful cheeses. Our first and last nights there the owner, Maria Luisa, cooked dinner for us, and her dinners were amazing. Five courses and each one a triumph! The village of Panicale is so picturesque and everyone very friendly; it has amazing views, nice little shops, restaurants and cafes-but never too crowded. We all felt at home there, and had the best time at a local wine festival, with local food, wine, entertainment and dancing all night. It was also a great location to visit other Tuscan and Umbrian towns. Our hostess Katia provided plenty of information on local places and was always available if we had a question. One of the reasons we chose La Querciolana was that we had seen notices about how helpful and responsive she is, and we were not misled; she is great!

“excellent family holiday”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2013

I recommend this lovely summer retreat in the Umbrian hills. It is superbly located close to the delightful town of Panicale. The accommodation is spacious, clean and private. It has a lovely swimming pool and tennis court. We had delicious meals prepared by Loiusa who also taught us to make the ultimate Ragu sauce. The agent Katia was superb in sharing local knowledge and ensuring that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Nothing was too much of an effort. My son described the whole holiday experience as a text book holiday. I certainly recommend the property. We will no doubt be visiting La Quercolana again.

“Wonderful place to stay!”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2013

We stayed in the big house and our friends in one of the apartments. We had a very good time; fine and spacious house (with Wifi) with a splendid view on the Umbrian hills, gorgeous food (restaurant available on demand), good wine and olive oil (own production), the owners were very kind, lovely pool, tennis court and gardens, quit and centrally located for visits of the typical Umbrian landscape and villages.
