“A warm welcome to the UK!”
We were lucky to find Medlar house on the internet when we were looking for furnished accommodation in Surrey. We were in transition between Tokyo, Japan and a permanent house in Epsom and needed to bridge about 5 weeks in furnished accommodation. Ayse Taran welcomed us to the UK and made us feel at home from the very beginning. The house had all the comfort we needed, was clean and had a lovely garden. Guildford is a very nice town and the town centre was within easy reach of Medlar house. We could not have had a better start to our new life in the UK.
“Comfort, convenience and congeniality”
We stayed at Medlar House for a month and got to know the property, and the proprietor, rather well. The house is conveniently located in a quiet, residential neighbourhood of Guildford which is a short bus ride (and a 20 minute walk) away from the town centre. There are a row of shops just minutes away from the property. Its kitchen and bathroom have recently been redecorated and are therefore up to modern standards, though we would like to have seen a separate shower cubicle in the bathroom. With three bedrooms (and a sofa bed in the drawing room) the property gave enough space for our family of five and the large garden at the back and communal area at the front gave plenty of space for our children to play and run around in. The landlady is a very generous and friendly person and looked after us extremely well, probably beyond the call of duty. This may have had to do with the fact that we were nice to her three adorable cats!!! (I hasten to add that they were not allowed in the house.) Major plus points: friendliness, comfort and convenience (if you are not fussed about not being bang in the middle of town). Drawbacks: the lack of storage space in one of the bedrooms which housed the immersion tank.
“My stay at Medlar House”
It was not my first time at Medlar House, I stayed for 3 days.Location is perfect, so it was easy to get there and visit all the places of my interest.I found new kitchen well equipped and the same dining room with wonderful view of the garden. My room was simple but nice and cozy. The owner of the place is very nice and friendly.I decided to stay here next time I am in Guildford.
“Charmy house-part to relax”
We stayed in Medlar house as a family of five for one week and I stayed alone for another two weeks doing an assistant Teaching in a Primary School. For us it was the perfect place to stay: The house is situated off street, with a very nice garden. It's close to the bus stop and a convenience store. The house is nicely furnished, cleen and the beds are very comfortable. The free WiFi worked very well.I could even lend out a bike to drive to school from the very friedly proprietress. She also gave us ideas and maps what to see and do in Guildford and London. There are a lot of very interesting things to do (Guildford Sport and Leisure Centre, Guildford Spectrum, Portsmouth with the Historic Dockyard and a outlet store centre, Isle of Weight, Leith Hill) and London is within easy train distance. With a family, it is easier to rent a car, but alone I was fine with the bike, bus and train.
“Comfortable, convenient, and affordable”
I have stayed at Medlar House several times. It always feels like a home away from home. It is a pleasant place to stay, with a friendly proprietor. The location is very convenient, within a few minutes' walk of several shops and restaurants as well as the beautiful River Wey towpath. It is very close to Spectrum Leisure Centre and Stoke Park, and within easy reach of the Guildford town centre. The rooms are bright and clean and nicely decorated. The beds are comfortable, and it is quiet and peaceful, very relaxing. I enjoyed having breakfast in the dining room looking out at the blossoming trees in the back garden. And best of all, the rates are very affordable, so it is an excellent value.
Stayed twice, already felt like returning home, particularly when warmly welcomed. The house is fully furnished and nicely decorated. Simple but comfortable decoration and setting. Everywhere is so clean and tidy. It is most relaxing to have the breakfast and the meals in a kitchen opening to a little garden at the back of the house. Enjoy the peaceful and calm environment but convenience too. There are small restaurant offering very delicious Indian food, fish and chips, and Chinese food. Food, pharmacy, little stores and buses are all within walking distance of around less than minutes.
“Comfortable and homely accommodation with a very hospitable owne”
We stayed at Medlar House for three days and two nights last summer, and it was a very pleasant experience. The house is set in a very decent and friendly community. You may see it from the picture we took during our stay last summer. It is within reasonable distance from shops and a fine restaurant with very good Indian food and another small shop selling delicious fish and chips. Ayse is a very hospitable lady and the rooms were very well kept, and comfortably furnished. She offered us a very good choice of food and drink for breakfast, and she made us feel at home. That was the second time my sister was there and my first time. If I ever go to that part of England again, I will know where to find a good place to stay for the trip, and I won't have any reservation to recommend it to my friends.
