“Just so so”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2016

Accommodations were a disappointment. You enter the one bedroom unit through the bedroom then on to the living room and kitchenette. You can hear your neighbors and the AC unit are noisy. The couch was stained, the coffee table was stained, the chairs are faded, the shower door was off the track (fought it every shower), and last but not least the kitchen towels had bleach stains on them. The walk to the beach was pleasant enough however the shoreline and water were covered in seaweed. The unit did have all of the basic necessities and was super clean. I would not choose The Old Man and the Sea if I returned to Siesta Key.

Response from the manager Im very sorry this guest didn't enjoy the property or Siesta Key's amazing beaches. Some guests are hard on the furniture. The couch will be replaced but we cant address "seaweed at the beach". Our units do have nearly 150 4.5 of 5 star reviews, please read them, we are very proud of them:) And Siesta Key's beach was just voted the best in the country!

“Great Location and Comfortable”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2014

My family and I recently stayed at this property. It rained a few days but we still made the best of it. The "free" taxi service is awesome to go to the local bars in the evening. We enjoyed grilling out in the "common areas" and smore's in the evening. Daniel was accommodating and gave us some nice suggestions on what do to on raining days. There are plenty of beach and bath towels. The outside shower is great to wash the sand off your feet. We will definitely stay here again. Just a suggestion more pillows and kitchen trash bags would be nice.

“cold but nice”

This place was very very clean and Daniel sent things to do since it was such a cold week. Even went out and bought a highchair since we had a little one along. Would for sure go there again.

Response from the manager Thanks guys!

“Perfect beachhouse!”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2014

This beach house was just what we were looking for. Great location right by the beach! You really don't even need to wear shoes when you leave the house to spend some time in the sand. Also so nice that it is close to shopping and some great restaurants. Great for families since it has the bunk beds in one room. We will be returning for sure! Also when we had questions we got quick responses and friendly service from the owners. Loved it!!

“Old Man and the Sea and Me”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2014

My family recently spent 5 days at the Old Man & the Sea Inn on Siesta Key. We had communicated with Daniel several times before we travelled and were comfortable with all the information we received from him. We really appreciated all the suggestions he emailed to us just before we left. The 2 BR unit was spacious, furnished comfortably and was just across the street to a beach access. It was not the unit photographed on the website, but it was just as nicely done. Unfortunately the view of the beach was completely obstructed by a large, totally unattractive home. The Inn was exactly as we were hoping with an old Florida style façade, decking, beautiful front yard for the kids to move and/or to sit in the shade, and the sitting area underneath the apartment style units was welcoming and spacious. You really had plenty of space to be outside, or in, and of course a mere stroll to the beach. I had thought the unit was directly on the beach and was a little disappointed at first - but once settled in, we really took advantage of walking and biking down the side street, being able to walk the beach morning, noon and night and being so close to several very good restaurants. We had some difficulty with the television and Jon came over within 15 minutes of us putting in a phone call. He was kind and did what he could to help us out. We were very lucky to have wonderful neighbors in the time we were there. There was a large group staying in our unit the week before we arrived and some key items were missing or broken. We let Jon know and were able to borrow from said neighbors. It might be helpful for the cleaning people to have a check list to be sure the unit has what it is supposed to have. When we return to Siesta Key, we would definitely stay at the Old Man & the Sea again. Thank you Daniel and Jon and keep making your properties as unique and personal as you can.

“Love Siesta Key!”

Old Man & the sea Inn on beautiful Siesta Key was everything terrific! The suite was full of Florida charm, spacious and clean! You don't even need your sandals to walk to the beach! We took morning and evening strolls in the area. It is all beautiful. Restaurants and shopping are close but you would never know it once you settle in because it is so quiet. The agent was terrific! 10 out of 10 for him! Would we book with him again? Absolutely! Thanks For making our holiday great Daniel!

“It's the location”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2014

This was a great value rental on Siesta Key. We cooked all of our meals in. The kitchen is appropriately furnished with appliances and wares and there is a gas grill that got a good workout cooking everything from steak to blackened grouper. Fresh scallops and stone crabs from a nearby market and pina colada's on the deck were a favorite. The building is somewhat dated, but is being continuously upgraded so that comment will not eventually apply. The location is great, with the sandy public path the the beach directly across the street and restaurants in walking distance and shopping nearby. We rented a boat for an intercoastal excursion to a secluded beach on the Gulf for a day of sun, surf and sand. Next time we'll bring our fishing poles. For decades Marco Island was our favorite vacation spot, but this area with its beaches, nearby shopping, and proximity to entertainment venues both local and in Tampa is now our top spot and Old Man and the Sea is in the perfect location.

“Clean, zero hassle check-in/out, awesome location!”

Reviewed 18 Nov 2013

I live and work in Sarasota and invited several buddies down to FL from around the U.S. for a weekend of kayak fishing and BBQ. This place was the perfect location for everything we wanted to do. It's off the beaten path with little through traffic passing by the house, and yet kayak/paddle-board/bicycle rentals, good seafood and welcoming bars are just a short walk away. And, let's not forget the beach - we left our shoes at the house because the sandy path was only a few steps from the driveway. There is also a free taxi service that took us up to the north end of the key where there is a good selection of restaurants and nightlife. We rented two units and both were very well kept and clean. The outdoor space below the units was great, and we were certainly able to make good use of the huge grill that was available. Booking the rental was easy, and the coded access made it easy for any of us to come and go without having to keep track of a key. Finally, the owner was friendly and knowledgeable with plenty of recommendations for where to fish, where to eat, where to rent outdoor sports equipment, etc... I'll be recommending this rental, or others through this owner, to my family and friends any time they come down to visit.

“Awesome time!”

Loved it here. Really is just 1 marlin from the sand! :)

“Just what our family needed!”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2013

Great location! The beach was absolutely perfect! The condo was fresh and clean, but relaxed, just like the pictures. Plenty of room to get together as a family without being on top of one another. The kids had plenty to do and the grown ups got to kick back and relax. The kitchen was well equipped. We will definitely be back!
