“Fantastic place to recharge”
In short this is just a wonderful place to visit and stay and was worth the 7 hour trip from Silver Spring MD. Other reviews have said better then I could how lovely this place is. I'll just try to add on by noting a small things about the TV and internet that I noticed wasn't mentioned much by others. The picture shows there is a TV but its a bit dated in that it is no longer a big butt TV but a good sized flat screen with HDMI outputs. So if your young and tech savy like we are and like to play your movies off your laptop/hard drive then it is completely possible. However, Bill has a great collection of DVDs with a wide range from light-hearted comedies to Oscar worthy dramas and thus we just ended up take advantage of his selections after relaxing in the hot tub and pouring a glass of wine at sunset. (the mountain view is unbeatable) No wireless but I was able to check work emails on my phone the one time I checked just in case something required my attention. Definitely not an area where streaming videos is seamless but for me disconnecting from the internet was a big appeal to me anyways and think you would find it is too.
“Perfect Romantic getaway”
My husband surprised me in July 2012 for an anniversary getaway to Raven Ridge. He had taken care of the food all we needed was to get up there. Everything else was there at the Lodge. It was a perfect place with the spectacular views . The ravens treated us to some bird watching and the thrush said good night as we watched the sun set.Sitting in the hot tub looking at the stars as the only light was the perfect end of the day.I recommend it and we hope to go back and hike some of the area.
“Awesome secluded getaway!”
Mr. Wasserman has done an excellent job in making Raven Ridge Lodge a wonderful place to stay. The view is breathtaking, Inside the lodge, you will find all the modern conveniences of home and all the rooms are very tastefully decorated. I enjoyed the peacefulness while sitting in the rocker on the front porch enjoying the fresh mountain air. Also, the hot tub was a special treat with a spectacular view of the mountains. Enjoy a hike on the 14 mile Brumley Gap Trail, to the Channels or ride on the Rt. 76 Bike Trail on Rt. 80 and plan on spending a few nights at Raven Ridge Lodge.
“Most peaceful and scenic experience of a lifetime.”
Mr. Wasserman is very personable and excellent to deal with. The property was in immaculate condition, clean and everything worked perfectly. It was the most peaceful night's sleep I've had in a long time. This property would be ideal for a romantic getaway. The views are amazing, reaching into North Carolina with the most beautiful sunrise. There is also a hottub for relaxing and a wood fireplace to relax by. The property has a full kitchen, two bedrooms and a full bath with a pull out sofa. The furniture was clean and very cozy. I would rate this property at 5 stars. It is a once in a lifetime experience. If you enjoy peace and quiet, you will love this property.
Response from the owner As spring arrives on the top of the mountain, it's been getting more beautiful every day. I'm glad you were able to come up and enjoy it!
“Raven Ridge Lodge is warm and welcoming…”
My husband and I spent several days in this secluded mountain paradise in august 2012. The handsome Raven Ridge Lodge is warm and welcoming...We appreciated the comfortable beds, the beautifully tiled bathroom with the claw-footed tub, the well-appointed kitchen and watching the firewood burn through glass doors in a lovely soapstone stove. (Bill, our host, provided all the wood we needed!) It was tempting to stay inside by the fire but, in truth, we spent a good part of our leisure time rocking on the porches or lounging in the hot tub on the outdoor deck. (The water was just the right temperature when we arrived, by the way). This lodge is on a high mountain ridge, far away from city lights and the hot tub provided the perfect place to view the stars and to hear the wistful song of a nearby whippoorwill. We shouldn't have been surprised to hear such a rare treat because the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail wends its way through the property. One beautiful morning we did manage to pull ourselves away from all this luxury to enjoy the spectacular views from the property and to hike the Clinch Mountain Trail that also crosses the property. Our destination was the adjacent 4,800-acre Channels State Forest. These Great Channels of Virginia are not to be missed! They are an amazing series 400-million-year old sandstone outcroppings and maze-like crevices. There is not question that we will be back and the next time we'll bring some lucky friends along to enjoy this amazing place with us!
Response from the owner Thanks, Maxine, I'm glad your enjoyed your stay. I'd be glad to have you back anytime.
