“A very friendly b”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2014

We had a fantastic stay here. Very friendly, convenient for walking and biking. We brought our bikes with us and Bill let us store them in his garage. The room is very spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was set out and stored in the fridge in the room. We are hoping to go back again in the future and would stay there again. We would highly recommend this B

“Home from home”

As a B and B, the acorns was a fantastic place to stay. As a place to relax or as a base for explorations further afield we were glad to get back 'home'. We were encouraged to come and go as we pleased and were made to feel very welcome. Would highly recommend.

“Comfort at an affordable price, with adventures on your door ste”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2014

Right from the start Bill and his wife were very helpful and approachable. I booked into the apartment for a Christmas break (2013) and as my boyfriend and I were arriving by train with our bikes, Bill offered to pick up our supermarket order for us and they even put it all away for us in the fridge and cupboards! when we arrived we found that there were Christmas ornaments around the whole apartment, a lovely touch which we really appreciated. We found that the best part was having a separate boot room at the entrance to the property where you can hang your coats and dry off your muddy boots ready for the next day. The whole apartment is centrally heated so no worries about getting cold. The apartment was extremely well stocked with pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, utensils and washing up equipment. The apartment is right next to a large hotel which welcomes non residents to the bar and rather posh restaurant. There is a large selection of shops, cheaper restaurants, pubs, bars and hotels a short walk away and many more shops and cafes along near the train station. we found everything we needed for emergency provisions in the village. There are marked forest walks starting near to the back gate of the garden, very hilly but the views are spectacular over the hills and lakes. Just 2 miles away is the go below underground adventure centre which can be reached by the main road or a lovely little country lane that goes behind the village, Ideal for cycling and walking. There is also a golf course within walking distance. The village of Betwys Y Coed itself is beautiful, with the River Conwy passing right through and under some impressive stone bridges. The whole village is built from local stone and slate, which looks great. We will certainly be coming back to stay again this year, as Snowdon is easy to get to from here and we want to explore more of the national park.

Great apartment and a lovely owner. Had a wonderful stay.

“Home from home in the gateway to Snowdonia”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at acorns. Marion and Bill were very friendly and welcoming, and the apartment felt like a real home from home: comfortable, clean and spacious, with excellent facilities. Off road parking in front of the house was very convenient, as was the option to order a continental breakfast in the privacy of the apartment if required. Betws-y-Coed is a charming small town on the main a5 route to the sea, with several very good restaurants within walking distance, and the mountains of Snowdonia only a short drive away. We particularly liked the freedom to come and go as we pleased; the only downside was the slight noise of traffic on the main road, but this wasn't at all a problem at night. We would recommend the apartment to friends and family, and we would certainly not hesitate to stay there again in future.

“Everything you need for a relaxing stay”

Clean, comfortable self catering accommodation well equipped with everything you could need.

“A stunning and relaxing week in a beautiful part of Wales.”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2013

Just returned from The acorns self-catering apartment at Betws-y-Coed. The accommodation was without doubt the best we have been to, as we have travelled throughout England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Bill and Marion could not do enough for us. This part of North Wales is as good as we expected it to be.

“Perfect place to stay”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2013

Mr and Mrs Betteney were the perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful and The acorns was the perfect place to stay. My daughter, grandson and myself stayed in the spacious self catering suite which was perfect for us. It was on the ground floor, with the access down the side of the house. It had a twin bedroom and a sofabed in the lounge and the kitchen was fully equipped. The shower was double the size of normal showers and the accommodation was clean and tastefully decorated. The house had car parking spaces and was only a few minutes walk from the village centre. Betws-y-Coed is the perfect place to stay, if you want to explore Snowdonia. The famous Swallow Falls are 3 miles out of the village and is a must-see place. Mount Snowdon is 30 minuets away and likewise the coast. There are plenty of pubs/restaurants in the village, but a short drive out and there are plenty of other small villages in all directions. I couldn't find any fault with The acorns and will be recommending it to friends and we would certainly stay there again.

“Great Location”

Reviewed 20 May 2013

Enjoyed a fantastic week. Accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable. Nice quiet location but easy short walk to town's facilities. Recommended.

Response from the owner So pleased you both enjoyed your stay with us and found the apartment and area to your liking. Thank you for your review. Marion

“very good value lovely suite”

Reviewed 12 May 2013

We stayed in the suite at acorns for a weekend hiking to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Suite was lovely, big comfortable bed, hot shower in an enormous well stocked bathroom, and very comfy sofa to relax and enjoy a DVD in the evening, warm and very spacious. The provision of hot water bottles, magazines, films, games and little cake bars to enjoy with our tea are nice touches. Only (very minor) downside was lack of cooked breakfast but the landlords provide a hearty continental spread with toast, cereals, cheese, ham and yoghurts which set us up for a days walk just as well as a fry up would have. Very convenient for access to great walks in Snowdonia and right on the a5 so easy to get to from the south. Will stay there again when next in the area.
