“Very peaceful”

Reviewed 18 May 2017

Very nice cabin in a great location with plenty of fishing and beautiful places to hike. My family and I enjoyed our stay here very much. The only problem was that the bed is hard as a rock which made for some restless nights.

Response from the owner Very surprised that you found the mattress "hard as a rock". This is the first complaint we have ever experienced about the mattress. In fact, to the contrary, we have on many occasions, been asked the brand name by previous visitors stating they wanted to purchase one just like the one they had found so comfortable.

“Bear Lair and setting FAR exceed our expectations”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2014

We drove 630 miles from Madison, Wi. to spend a week at Bear Track Lake as our base to explore and hike the Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge areas. Janice and Fred had the cabin in spotless condition. From the massive, covered deck I saw the lake and my own electric fishing boat. Looking down into the water from the upper deck, I could see catfish, crappies, bass and bluegills. I quickly got out my 7 wt fly rod and began fishing using larger, size 8-12, dry flies. I caught a lot of fish over the week, even though I fished no more than an hour or two a day. We explored the magnificent property by hiking the trails to the caves and kept going to circle the entire lake. We experienced sights that rivaled the Natural Bridge Park, all the while being guided by Rocco, the Husky. We felt safe when the dogs walked with us or just hung out under the decks. The dogs really added a lot to our experiences. The cabin was very well equipped with all cooking, sleeping and personal comfort needs. There was satellite tv for the rainy night we watched 2 movies and big CLEAN windows to see the lake and the moon reflect off the water. Wifi was a bit temperamental but we got all the e-mails and face book we needed. To boil it all down, the cabin was not just beautiful, but meticulously cleaned, the property demands to be explored, the location allows exploration of the Daniel Boone National Forest for day trips, fishing is great and Janice and Fred were perfect hosts. After a 630 mile drive, Bear Lair FAR exceeded our expectations and will warrant a return with our whole family. Thanks Janice and Fred.
