Wow! A truly wonderful holiday in countryside that takes your breath away! We had an absolutely amazing weeks here, we were very well looked after by Marianne and andrew who offered us good information on where to eat and visit during our stay. The house is a short 5 minute drive to the local bar where there is also a restaurant in the village of San Leo Bastia. The locals are all very friendly and make you feel very at home. You can also walk to the village if you are feeling energetic which we did several times. The house was very clean and tidy and the pool was fantastic. A brilliant holiday that we will definitely be repeating as soon as possible! Would defintely recommend!!!

“Amazingly Beautiful House in the Tuscan Countryside”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2013

This is a lovely set of two houses in southern Tuscany, both of which have been restored in a really nice manner. We stayed in the mill house, and it was very different - in a good way - from other places we've rented in Italy (we've been about 7 times), because it was a tower, so was stacked vertically. Very fun, and very well put together, with lots of marble and more traditional furnishing alongside modern conveniences in the kitchen and bath. Oh, and the stream runs through the bottom of the house. It's in a bit of a valley, but has good views and lots of foliage. We really liked the pool, too. The bigger house, which we got to see, was just as pretty, with more room for a family, and décor that I'd love to have at my own house if I could afford it, including a big wooden dining room table. It'd be perfect if you'd want to vacation with your whole family - but maybe not stay in the same house with them! That's our plan. Also, we really liked the area around the house. You'll need a car, but the village nearby, San Leo Bastia, has one of the friendliest little cafes, with tasty coffee and the cutest store in the back that has good cheese, wine, veggies, and more, so you can stock up without going too far. Oh, one more hint - about 20 minutes away, in a town called Verna, is the absolutely greatest pizza place in the world. It's called Nestor's and is fabulous. A must stop if you like pizza. Also, Cortona isn't too far away (about 30 minutes or so), and assisi is only an hour at most. I can't wait to stay at the Mill House again.
