“Friendly and accommodating”

Reviewed 12 May 2014

Oakhurst was a wonderful find for our first B&B in Ireland and the Pearsons were great hosts. Eileen's breakfasts were tasty, generous and attractively presented. Our room overlooked the bay and we were treated like special friends. She gave us her recommendations on what to see and do in the area, and went out of her way to accommodate us. Daughter Deirdre helped us plan and book our next stop as we were planning to drive up the west coast. We would heartily recommend Oakhurst.

Response from the owner Thank you both so much! It was lovely to meet you both and I hope all is well back home. See you for a return visit in 2015!

“Extraordinary Stay”

Reviewed 11 May 2014

Looking for an outstanding stay? Then you are on the right adress! Very warm and personal hosting, beautiful seaview in an historical Victorian House closed to the City Center! That's basically all what's necessary to describe a good B&B.; Thanks to Eilleen for an unforgettable part of our vacation! (...and the wonderful homemade bread which we could virtually extend our Ireland vacation back home...)

Response from the owner Thank you very much for the fabulous review guys...pleasure having you both and hopefully we will see you back in Cobh again next year! Eileen Pearson

“Hospitality with a capital H.”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2014

Stayed here on suggestion of a friend in Cobh and was overwhelmed with extra attention to making our stay special. Eileen assisted by her daughter Deidre called ahead to our dinner location to assure hours and seating, arranged an excellent private tour of the Cathedral and Crypt below with John Flynn of Cobh Town Tours and made sure we knew our way to the Roaring Donkey for a Wednesday night Trad session. The room was clean and comfortable and breakfast in the formal dining room was huge and excellent! Location overlooking the harbor and just down from the docks with a beautiful garden to go with the home is perfect for a Cobh stay.

“Space”

Reviewed 27 Mar 2014

After cramped accommodation in U.K., Croatia and France it was a welcome change to get somewhere that we could move about without bumping into each other. The quality of meals and company was an additional bonus. By far the best part of our trip.

“Great location”

This is a beautiful property in a super location. Walking distance to town, public transport, bars and restaurants. Very friendly and relaxing. Will be back!

“Awesome family that makes your stay special.”

Reviewed 19 Mar 2014

Eileen's beautiful home sits on a hill overlooking the bay. It is within easy walking distance from town. She and her family go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. We celebrated our son's 21st Birthday in Cobh and she had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us to toast the occasion after an awesome day touring the town. She arranged for a personal tour with a local guide John Flynn to see the gorgeous cathedral and a walk through town highlighting the important role it has played in history. The morning Irish breakfast is served in a beautiful dining room with perfect presentation. The food was the best we had on our journey.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your kind words, it was really lovely to have you all join us at Oakhurst House. We look forward to your return soon x

“Beautiful, comfortable property”

We stayed in this property over the Christmas period and we loved it. Very comfortable and affordable. Very close to amenities.

“Superb in every way!”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2013

I do not hand out accolade very often, but our stay at Oakhurst was absolutely perfect. We arrived a day early...my mistake, but because of Eileen's efficiency she was able to accommodate us anyway. The next morning we had warm bread waiting for our breakfast along with a list of places and directions that we might be interested in visiting before we ventured off to explore the rest of Ireland. Brian took us to the grocery store and loaned us bags to use before we had the opportunity to rent a car. They had simply thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The cottage setting itself was quite charming. There are gorgeous gardens surrounding the property which we were encouraged to enjoy. The property itself is close to everything, the railroad station, the town, shopping, the absolutely inspirational cathedral, and what I would call wonder walks. We stayed at Oakhurst for 2 weeks (used it for our base of operations) and spoked our adventures out from there. Cobh is actually the perfect place to do this as it is about in the middle of all the places we wanted to go see and visit on the southeastern side of Ireland. The island itself is a treasure trove of history. After 2 weeks in Cobh, we ventured on to the western coast of Ireland for a week, and then I returned for another week to Cobh by myself. I liked Oakhurst so well, of all the places I could have chosen to stay, I went back to stay another week there. I highly recommend Oakhurst. You will absolutely love it there.
