“Perfect Solo Vacation Experience”
I recently returned from my visit to St. John and Coral Bay Eco-Retreat. Allison's welcome was the perfect introduction to St. John and my vacation. I fell in love with every part of her home ... I couldn't wait to wake-up every morning to the sound of the birds, breezes, and coffee while watching the view! Oh my...the view! Don't be intimidated by the "eco" description. It is easy to transition into the needs and requirements of a sustainable lifestyle, especially if you are willing to relax (the purpose of vacation after all!) and leave worries behind. I love Coral Bay and her people. Don't miss a massage by Allison's neighbor, Kathy ... undeniably the best I have every had! I highly recommend Coral Bay Eco-Retreat for those looking for a relaxing, beautiful adventure on their next vacation. I can't wait to return!
“Wonderful Week-Amazing Views and Seclusion”
My wife and I stayed here for a week during our honeymoon. It was an amazing week. Allison was a wonderful and gracious host, who has built an amazing getaway. The views are incredible; the sunrise, the dynamic colors of Hurricane Hole, the green forest, the clouds, the British Virgin Islands. Away from any neighbors. If seclusion is what you are looking for, the Eco Retreat will be perfect. The best part however, is that the beaches and restaurants are still very close by. After being gone just a day, we already miss the smell of the flowers and the breeze. The feel of the sun and trade winds, while laying in the hammock. The kitchen was fully functional and well equipped, and we made dinner at the house most nights of the week. It was truly an amazing week. Also, the house is so clean. I was astonished at how clean the house is while still being completely surrounded by nature. It is an amazing find to have a house so secluded yet so comfortable. So much care has gone into this retreat, it is a masterpiece combining care, craftsmanship, beauty, and the harmony of nature. We are very sad to be home, and cannot wait to return to the Eco Retreat.
Response from the owner Thank you so much for your kind and beautiful words. It was a pleasure to have you and your bride at the retreat....I love having people in love at the Love Nest!!! I truly hope you can return....and thanks for noticing the details. It IS a bit tricky to keep it pristine with all the critters and winds blowing through! Take care and come back!!!
“A new home away from home”
Full of adventure and tranquility, the Coral Bay Eco Retreat made our St. John trip the trip of a lifetime. Our first steps into the house, and it was immediately clear how much love and tenderness was put into building such a magical place. The views from anywhere (even sitting on the toilet) are hands down, the best on the island. The house is decorated with art by local artists, tropical plants, and bird feeders throughout. Allison proved to be a most gracious host, taking the time to show us around the island and get settled in. She immediately put us at ease after a long night of traveling, and she may just be the sweetest soul on the island. We fell in love with island life and look forward to returning again and again and again.
“Perfect place to get away from it all:)”
Ive been to St.John many times and was lucky enough to have found this little piece of Paradise. The Coral Bay eco retreat is the perfect place to stay when you long to get away from it all and connect with nature again. The views are breathtaking with the most amazing sunrises and sunsets. Lots of space to sit outside for a cook out and a romantic meal on the patio deck! So all you need to bring is food and your beverages of choice everything else was provided; and with plenty of. Great hiking trails and the beach nearby although; I would recommend a jeep rental so you can get out and experience the rest if the Island. I cant wait to return!
Response from the owner Thanks D. from Newfoundland. It's a joy to have you thawing out in Coral Bay at my house! I'm glad you liked it so much you didn't want to leave. I look forward to having you back, for more peace and another massage!
“Rugged, and I like it that way!”
I have stayed many times and I enjoy it more each time. This is a remote location on a remote island in the blue Caribbean Sea. The drive in is an E-ticket ride, with stair climbing at the end, but it's worth it! I enjoyed the remoteness, but still the service was top-notch. Not easy to juggle these two conflicting aspects, but allison does a great job of it. I look more for Eco-friendly, and this 100% solar(at the time of writing) powered home meets all of my criteria. It is a warm, deeply spiritual and soul-nourishing home. I am looking forward to many more retreats and experiences with the Sacred in this very special location. The very rocks are alive with joyous warmheartedness.
Response from the owner Hi Mukti, Always a pleasure to have you as a guest at my eco-cottage. You bring a true appreciation of down-to-Earth sustainable life without frills, as well as awe of the peaceful sunrises over the sea...the Morning Show, St John style! Thanks for bringing your beautiful soul to Coral Bay Eco Retreat. You're always welcome!
This adult tree house is my one of my favorite places to relax your mind and truly experience a peaceful and positive environment , you really connect with nature and yourself thank you allison for making this place available for us ;))) To enjoy .
Response from the owner Hi Jess, As a repeat guest, you always grasp the cottage's retreat-like qualities and take advantage of the opportunity to be alone and reflective for your personal quest. The massage table...and the trees!... await your return.
“Magnificent... Simply breathtaking ocean views overlooking St. J”
Amazing retreat cottage... Very remote in a natural environment, loved being greeted by the sugar birds, reading in the hammock, breakfast overlooking expansive ocean views, never ending peace and quiet. We truly needed this time in nature away from the hustle and bustle! Very comfortable furnishings, nice breezes, garden shower, island decor with cheerful colors. Such a quiet spot with all of the comforts of home, minus the a/c but you don't even need or want it here! Tree frogs sing you to sleep at night and you wake up feeling rejuvenated! A short hike down the trail took us to Skinny Legs for great food and over to Crabby's for watersports.
“A life changing place.”
Staying in this amazing home absolutely changed my life. The attention to detail, the freedom of the open air structure and the amazing kindess of the owner will have me coming back for years to come. The birds soar in and out of the home. They ate sugar from my hand and by the end of the week they were landing on my finger if I just held it out to them. I felt perfectly safe way up on the side of the mountain even without walls and doors. It's a hike up the 44 stairs and I would highly recommend renting a car with 4 wheel drive. My stay there was without a vehicle and I managed just fine and I am not what you would call athletic. Bring your hiking boots! The view is worth millions a night, the sun and moonrises are breathtaking. There isn't a single thing I would change about the Coral Bay Eco Retreat. It was perfect off the grid living, quirky and wonderful. I am counting down the days until I can climb the 44 steps home to Zion again!
“Self-contained, off-the-grid mountaintop luxury with a view”
Anyone who thinks living off the grid requires sacrifice of comfort clearly hasn't stayed here. Your water is provided by the rain. Your electricity is provided by the sun. A huge deck, cushy living spaces with beds in open air... windows? There aren't any. Shower? Outside. Yes, the toilets flush. And the view is a never-ending masterpiece of sea and sky. Complete privacy here on the mountain top. No neighbors.. except for an occasional island donkey. If you like quiet, romantic places, this is it. The stairs up are steep so if you can't climb, don't come here. But if you can climb stairs, you need to try this place, one of the cheapest luxuries on St. John. and one of the most powerful boosts for the soul one can imagine.
44 steps took us to a very unique and wonderful experience... a vacation not to be forgotten!!! My husband commented .."it's like a Tarzan movie... a tree house penthouse... it's what the island experience should be all about!!!" It is not for the all inclusive... pampered vacationer but for someone who appreciates a fantastic view... tropical breezes... sleeping under a mosquito net... being able to lay in bed and watch the sun come up and with it the birds that come to feed at the tree next to your bed telling you it is time to get up. We even got to experience the full moon coming up over the water! We had all the comforts we needed... felt like a true adventure creating memories not to be forgotten. Have I memtioned the view... spectacular from every angle... never boring ... always changing ... always special! Made friends with the sugar birds who would eat out of my hand and land on my finger. Had hermit crabs visit us also... and of course the lizards. I would recommend Zion highly and can't wait to revisit this very special unique tree house!!!
Response from the owner Just as a FYI, the Coral Bay EcoRetreat is also known around the island as Zion, the Rastafarian word for "heaven". Yes, they are one and the same!
