“We are now regulars at Pat's Little Bit of Country”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2014

This year will be the third time we have stayed at Pat's Little Bit of Country. My husband and I first stayed at this cute and warm country inn3 years ago and we had a great time. So relaxing and peaceful and away from the traffic and congestion of the tourist area of Niagara Falls, but close enough to drive to the attractions for the day. Only a 15 min drive to the action and then when you have had enough and want to unwind, this serene get away is just around the corner. We enjoyed it so much we returned with our son the following year and again we enjoyed the action, not to far away from this place and visited Crystal Beach as well which is only 20 min drive down the street. We appreciated the use of the pool, bbq and picnic area as well. The 1 bedroom apt came with everything, all you need to bring is your clothes and toothbrush of course. Pat provides everything, from tinfoil to cutlery, to pots and plates and towels. There is a nice size flat screen with dvd player and internet service. A Foodland grocery store is only a 5 minute drive down the road with great food to stock the impeccably clean kitchen. The apartment was perfect for all three of us, with it's queen bed and a pull out couch in a separate living area from the bedroom. So we are now officially regulars because we stayed here again this year, again with our son, now 16 years old, This time we stayed in the lower level apartment which is more spacious and just as beautifully decorated. It is just as cozy and clean as the upper level apartment and very bright. The windows are NOT SMALL at all. They are very large windows as a matter a fact and the living area and kitchen gets tons of sunlight. I actually appreciated no window in the bedroom so that the sunlight did not beam on us at 6am in the morning and wake us up. Pat provided us with a cot for our son and he slept just fine in the living room that is also separate from the bedroom. He enjoyed the flat screen tv and dvd player until the wee hours of the morning. The price is amazing for what you get. We searched hotels in the falls and nothing could beat Pat's price and give us everything that this place offers us. Nice and private too. It's attached to a main house but when we were inside it felt like it was just us. It's also nice to know that there is someone close by to ask questions or address any concerns. Super friendly. The pool clean and refreshing. I love Pat's Little Bit of Country because it is close to everything but still tucked away. Very clean and a wonderful retreat for any couple and small family. I totally recommend it !!!

“Very clean, but very dark - no window in the bedroom!”

Pat's place was impeccably clean! Everything looked perfect. The kitchen was neat and had everything you need, from utensils, to pots and pans, to paper towels, to alu folium even. The fridge was good sized. The bathroom is really nice and clean. You could tell that Pat put an effort into decorating it and making it look nice. Having said that, I also have to say that the towels provided had that mouldy damp smell that we did not like at all! Luckily, there were bunch of spare towels, and we were able to find ones that didn't have the odour. Also, we would have appreciated if the shower toiletries were also provided, as we just ran out of them having been on a very long trip already. There were only toilet paper and hand soap provided. You can use the pool and the BBQ, which is nice, if you have more days to spend there. The biggest drawback was that the place was really dark! There were only 2 very small basement windows, one in the living room and one in the kitchen that did not have a direct view to the outside, but were sort of hidden by a concrete. And - no windows in the bedroom! To me, that was a horror! Not being able to see out and tell when was the morning coming is kind of weird. Maybe, someone would have liked that, but not us. In that place I felt claustrophobic, because of that darkness, and I couldn't stay in for very long. We would have appreciated to have been able to wash our clothes there, but we had to take it to the laundromat downtown. That was fine, because the lady there was very nice and helpful. I would recommend it ("This and that laundromat" it's called I believe). The bottom line, with all the groupons that were available for Niagara Falls, I wish I had booked a hotel that overlooked the Falls, and stayed in Niagara for the same price, but with a better view and commodity. I am sure, people without babies (we were travelling with a 11 months old baby) and who are flying there, would not care so much for these things.
