“An oasis of peace in a busy city”

Reviewed 23 May 2014

In addition to my husband, we traveled with another couple and wanted a place that would offer a good deal of privacy as well as tranquility. Casa Vacanza Melinda was the perfect place. Set back in a court yard, the normal street traffic could not be heard from the two bedrooms, allowing for a good night's sleep. Both bathrooms were nicely updated and we were delighted to have not only a washing machine, but a clothes dryer as well. We were able to walk to several points of interest from the apartment. And the internet access was flawless. Best of all, Massimo and his wife had prepared the apartment to be welcoming in every way. It was immaculate, well stocked and supplied and the basket of goodies left in the kitchen was very much appreciated. Massimo was always most pleasant and able to answer our questions. This is a find among the many offers in Rome. One of the nicest vacation rentals we have had within any city environment.

“Fantastic apartment, fantastic hosts!”

Reviewed 8 May 2014

Our family of 2 adults & 3 children (aged 6 months - 5 yrs) recently stayed in this apartment for 4 nights over Easter. Casa Melinda is a delightful apartment - very well set up & well located. Massimo and his wife were wonderful hosts - meeting us on our arrival to ensure everything was ok for us and giving us detailed information on what to see and do and how to get to places. The apartment has everything you need and was immaculately clean - so fantastic to stay somewhere where in the morning after arriving we were able to stay in and have breakfast as our wonderful hosts had so kindly left us with beautiful fresh fruit, milk etc. and so helpful to have washing powder and similar products available. The apartment is within easy walking distance to the metro and colosseum, even with young children! Massimo even very kindly sent on a few items which we mistakenly left behind to our next destination. I would highly recomend this apartment!

“A Beautiful home away from home!”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2014

The experience was even better than the pictures, especially when matched with a wonderful welcome by Massimo and his wife. Massimo was very helpful with a personal folder on things useful such as places of interest, transportation and ...yes, recommendation to a great ice-cream shop nearby. Getting there the first time felt a bit long as it was a good 15 mins walk from San Giovanni metro. But the coziness, comfort, luxurious fittings etc more than made up for it. And the mix of shops along the way back made it interesting. If you're into cooking, there are supermarkets, local butchers, a few fruit outlets, bakeries etc. Massimo has provided all the basics provisions should one decide to whip up a meal. Or if you prefer to eat out, there are plenty of affordable dining options nearby. The metro line a is indeed convenient with stops at all the major attractions. And the area is also well served by quite a few buses. The apartment is within walking distance to some of these attractions. We loved our visit to Rome, and Casa Melinda will be fondly remembered. Thank you Massimo for your hospitality!

“Being part of the Roman community in comfort and style.”

I want to return to Casa Melinda as we had a lovely time here. I feel however that I have to share our experience as well. We were met by Flavia and her mother who explained everything about this charming apartment and provided some treats to welcome us.We went on holiday with our daughter and one of her friends and one of the reasons we picked this apartment was due to it having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms! The whole apartment was well appointed and if you like fluffy towels and robes you will be happy here. It was quiet but in a lovely part of Rome just outside the walls. We happily sampled most of the recommended restaurants which were excellent but if you wanted to cook the kitchen was well appointed. The number 81 bus took you everywhere but we walked most of the time. We have been in Rome many times but we loved this apartment.

“Wondeful stay at Casa Melinda!”

“A delightful home away from home”

Reviewed 1 Jan 2014

Our family of 2 adults & four children (aged 13 - 8 yrs) recently stayed in this wonderful apartment for 2 weeks Christmas holiday in Rome. Casa Melinda is a delightful apartment, well set up & well located. It has everything you need within walking distance & has easy access to both Metroa & MetroB. It is slightly out of the centre of town but that turned out to be an advantage as it was nice & quiet in the evenings. The apartment was immaculately clean & has recently been renovated. It has a dishwasher, washing machine & dryer and well set up kitchen. There is a very pleasant walking park just a couple of minutes from the apartment & all of the shop owners on Via Gallia were very friendly & helpful - especially with our limited Italian. Massimo & his family are wonderful hosts. They met us at the apartment, made sure we had everything we needed & left us some fruit & other Christmas treats. Massimo even recommended a wonderful restaurant that we thoroughly enjoyed on Christmas day.

“Perfect apartment”

Reviewed 7 Nov 2013

My aunt and I stayed in Casa Melinda for eight nights and it made our recent trip to Rome very enjoyable. The apartment was perfect for us: clean, comfortable and well located. Within few steps you find restaurants, vegy stores, delis, ice cream, bakeries, ATM machines, etc. Thanks to Massimo, who went out of his way to assure we had everything we needed and provided us with maps, information about transportation we got oriented in a day. Massimo and his wife are the most gracious hosts, welcomed us with a bottle of wine and arranged for a taxi to the airport. My only regret is that I could not stay longer.

“We absolutely loved this gorgeous flat!”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2013

This flat is beautiful and comfortable. It has 2 large bedrooms with lovely furniture, 2 gorgeous bathrooms with lots of fluffy towels. There is a well stocked kitchen, a washer and dryer, a small terrace, and a very comfortable living room with another table and chairs. The beds are very comfortable and have beautiful bedding. The flat was spotless. It is about 10 minutes from a bus stop. There are restaurants, gelato shops, bakeries, and groceries up and down the street. Check in was easy and Massimo gave us a wealth of information about rome. He also left us lunch: pizza, grapes, wine. There was orange juice and coffee for us. We loved our stay!

“Home away From Home”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2013

I actually hesitate to write this review as it may make it more difficult to obtain availability here in the future. The home that Massimo and his family supplied us in Rome was fantastic. It is much nicer than the pictures show. To begin with we were met on time at the airport by Marco who was sent by Massimo. We were then met at the flat by Massimo who presented us with a bottle of wine and some pastry treats. After showing us how everything worked in the apartment he showed us books and maps of local points of interest. Everything except the Vatican was within walking distance and the metro to the Vatican was very close by. We walked to Trevi fountain, the Spanish steps, the Colisseum and many many churches within the area. Outside the flat were local small shops that sold fresh pasteries, fruits and vegetables, a butcher and a larger grocery store around the corner. The flat itself was plenty large enough for the four of us ( two couples) and was set up with bedrooms at separate ends so privacy was available when needed. It is also air conditioned if necessary but was rarely needed during our stay. We were there for eight days and it was always a welcome relief to come home to our flat after a long day of sightseeing. Massimo was always near by if we needed him but everything went smoothly especially with all the local info that was available. We felt that this apartment made our time in Rome one of the best trips we have ever been on.
