“Perfect Vacation Rental for a large Family! The house is part of the fun of the trip!”
We are currently HERE at The Rhinestone Fisherman, and we are so happy with our stay, we decided to write out review now. We traveled with 3 teenagers and 2 (9) yr. olds, and 2 other adults. For a large group, this house was PERFECT! We found everything we could possibly need! Even an amazing Margaritaville Blender! The couch was beautiful! and pulls out to make a huge queen bed. It's an automatic blow up mattress... with a touch of a button it blows right up! Perfect for the teen girls. The 9 yr olds & 12yr old wanted to spend most of their vacation in the "Pirate Room".. which was beyond perfect for them! The other 2 adults had their own bedroom & Bathroom, and my husband and I stayed in the master suite. The jacuzzi tub was by far my favorite thing about the house other than the artwork! elaborate murals and little tiny sparkling details around every corner! I especially loved the large painting in the living room that lights up and shows Mayor Ralph sitting at Berts. We were sad to not see him this year... he was one of our favorite people on the Island. My dad lives and works on the Island, as does his girlfriend. We have several friends here and come Yearly! We've stayed in several rentals, but the Rhinestone Fisherman is by far my FAVORITE for cleanliness, ammenities, artwork and fun! We had towels and dishes at our disposal... PERFECT PERFECT PLACE! We will be staying here from now on EVERY YEAR! Feels like home! Thanks Shelley for creating such an awesome and comfortable place! I've already shared and recommended to all of my Kentucky Friends!
“Awesome, relaxing,peaceful,perfect location”
My family came from Houston Texas, they had never been to Matlacha before. My fiancé and I had been several times. This is my first time staying at the Rhinestone Fisherman, it will not be the last. If you think it looks awesome on line it is even better in person. Mark and Shelley did an amazing job on this 3 bedroom house, we could not have been more comfortable. The beds were wonderful, the kitchen top of the line, comfortable couch, and art, art and more art. My sister and I are artist so we love love loved it. We mostly lived outside on the deck looking at Dolphins jumping, the view, and fishing. It is a perfect location, walking distance to everything. We could not have been happier, none of us wanted to leave after our week stay. Thanks again to Mark and Shelley for being so accommodating. I can't wait to return . Best Wishes, Suzanne
Third year in a row 2 friends and I combined a stay at Rhinestone Fisherman with a 3-day fishing trip with Capt. Tim Sisemore. Everything was great. Guide picks you up at the dock, fish cleaning station is right there (you ALWAYS catch fish with Capt. Tim), and the gourmet kitchen is the perfect place to prepare the fresh catch (trout, snook, redfish). Accommodations and arrangements are great and you can walk to everything in Matlacha. Plenty of room to relax after a hard day on the water! Definitely our first choice for our Florida fishing excursions.
“Why we love Canadian Winters!”
This is the second winter that my wife and I have stayed for a month or more at the Rhinestone Fisherman. We both love to fish and kayak and here we can combine both and think of the harsh cold winters back in Canada. The home/cottage is well furnished and comes with 2 kayaks and a couple of bicycles. The custom décor in the three bedrooms and the large number of hand painted wall murals give this place a truly unique character as the name implies. If you like eating seafood then you’ve found the right spot whether you catch sea trout, and snook right off the dock or fish around the mangrove islands to catch redfish in the kayaks. You can catch ladyfish and hand feed the dolphins from your kayak. Every year we have several close encounters with manatees right at the end of our dock. If you are not inclined to catch your own dinner there are some great local restaurants. Sandy Hook is about a 10-15 minute walk through town and offers a great prime rib dinner and some amazing local seafood dishes. Key lime Mahi Mahi is our favourite. A one-minute walk takes you to Bert’s where some amazing burgers and local entertainment are enjoyed by all who attend. The best breakfasts and early morning coffee are served up just a short 5 minute walk over the new “fishing bridge” in Matlacha at the Perfect Cup. A 15 minute drive to Pine Island offers several more interesting eating establishments such as Flatheads, a biker bar and grill that offers delicious burgers and unique pineapple cherry upside down pie. My wife and I prefer to stay at home, cooking and entertaining for friends with the spacious and well equipped kitchen. We spend most mornings with a coffee in hand watching the dolphins cruising by, crevalle jack splashing and the mullets jumping while enjoying the early sunrise over Matlacha Pass. We love the atmosphere and the eclectic culture of Matlacha and have made great friends with our neighbors and other renters and keep in touch with them thorough out the year While staying at the Rhinestone Fisherman you may opt to find a local beach. Most are a half hour drive from Matlacha and Barefoot Beach is our favourite. A fun excursion is to take the Tropic Star Ferry leaving from the north end of Pine Island to Cayo Costa Island which has a state park and a beautiful beach. Mark and Shelley who own and maintain this unique residence are very accommodating and great people to deal with. We are counting the months until we return to the Rhinestone Fisherman for our annual winter stay. Submitted by Dr. Fish or more recently called the King Fisher!! Enjoy your stay
“Even more fun than it looks”
We were visiting family in Florida and needed extra space. We picked this place because it looked so unique online and we were not disappointed. It was even more fun in person. Everything painted and bejeweled - and most of it lights up! Nice view of the water from the screened porch. Lovely to sit and watch the pelicans. Walk to shops & restaurants in Matlacha. Well appointed kitchen, nice appliances. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. There was a great looking boat available, although we did not use it. Really a unique vacation. (We all left feeling like we wanted to go home and pick up a paint brush and a glue gun!)
Response from the owner We LOVE it when people are really happy with their stay. Thanks so much for letting us know
