“A home from home”
I was overwhelmed at first by the size, but within a day it felt like home. The agents kept in touch by text and email, never intrusive, but dealing with any problems professionally. Parking nearby was a breeze, the flat had everything you could need along with some nice personal touches, and it was a wrench to leave after a fortnight there.
“Spacious and quiet home from home”
We visited the Edinburgh Festival with our 18 year old daughter and stayed for a week at this great property. Rosslyn Crescent is perfectly positioned - peaceful and quiet yet within a 15 minute bus ride or 30 min walk of the centre of Edinburgh. A short bus ride took us to the Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith one rainy day, and there is a great shopping centre there too. . We enjoyed exploring the shops on Leith Walk, and have earmarked a pub or 2 to visit next time we book. The house is shabby chic, and if you are really fussy, you might feel that the paintwork needs a bit of a facelift, and the carpets need replacing. The hot water tap on the lovely big bath didn't work, but we used the shower instead. also the TV was a bit small and signal dodgy. For these reasons, and the rather old and creaky "yellow" bedroom bed I didn't give this 5 stars. It didn't matter to us, as the apartment was clean and had everything we needed, and we were out a lot - and my daughter slept alone in the dodgy bed and didn't therefore mind its creakiness! Despite these few minor problems, we loved the accommodation and would definitely book it again and recommend it to anyone. The bed in the other bedroom was exceptionally comfortable - and we are fussy about beds - my husband and I slept really well and woke refreshed. The kitchen was clean and well equipped and everything worked - however the washing machine was gungy and grubby. The sitting room is enormous and we enjoyed eating at the table in the bay window overlooking the green in the middle of the crescent. A wonderful comfortable property full of character.
Response from the manager Thanks for taking the time to write a review for Rosslyn Crescent. Glad that you enjoyed the apartment and that you already have plans for pubs, etc. to visit on your return. We have adjusted the tap in the bathroom and have given the washing machine a thorough clean. Also, we have now replaced the mattress in the "yellow bedroom" with a new one, so that guests can have a comfortable night's sleep in both bedrooms. We're glad that you enjoyed the living room and enjoyed eating with the view of the green in the middle of the crescent. Best regards Martin Vacation Rentals Scotland
“OMG: What a lovely home and neighborhood!”
Utterly comfortable, warm, and inviting; excellent wi-fi, a lovely back garden, two bathrooms (with an excellent shower), comfortable beds, and a fully-equipped kitchen. The street is amazingly quiet, a cul-de-sac in a lovely area of Edinburgh away from the touristy center but easily accessed by bus plus a short walk. The street is a delight of tiny front gardens, and we were charmed to watch children playing and parents socializing in the grassy center; while out the back, we could watch two lawn bowling clubs that border the garden (which makes the house very quiet). The pub on the corner at Leith Walk is the perfect Scottish neighborhood pub, the market there has all the basics, and excellent fish and chips at Tailend is just a few blocks away. The ONLY complaint (aside from seagulls chattering in the morning, but that would be churlish) is that the mirrors are all up high--the owners must be very tall! All in all, a marvelous place to stay!
“warm, welcoming and spacious. Good location in Edinburgh!”
Warm, welcoming, nice and spacious! Silent and safe yet near Edinburgh. We recommend it. Comfortable beds!
“Quickly Became Home”
My partner and I recently stayed at this property for an extended period of time. I cannot overstate how much we enjoyed our stay. We immediately felt comfortable due to the atmosphere and the decor. This felt like home, and the many personal touches around the house only enforce this feeling. The kitchen is especially welcoming and is stocked with a excellent assortment of housewares. Cooking full meals is possible and we did many times. The house is spacious with large rooms and all the necessary appliances. As has been mentioned in previous reviews, I also wish the beds were somewhat softer, and the mirrors a bit lower :-) We also had some minor issues with the heating which was a bit temperamental at times. The bath is fantastic with a tub and a separate shower. The views out of the windows are unexpected and lovely. As for the location, the house is situated on a quiet street, but there are people about during the day and evening. It is a short walk to the shops and stores, and getting into the heart of town was no problem at all. This house is a real find and a great place to stay and relax in the midst of the city. Servicing was wonderful and our hosts were always in quick contact when we had a question or needed assistance. Booking was easy and we received a lovely reception. This was a wonderful experience and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
“shabby chic charming apartment”
by looking at the photos of the apartment we had a very good idea of what to expect, but the size and space of this apartment was just amazing.we stayed for 3 days in october 2013,having never been to edinburgh before we found it pretty close to to the town centre,a 20 min brisk walk. after a full day out,as there is so much to see and do in this brilliant city, we had a warm glow inside, because we new we were going back to a charming spacious, full of character apartment everything you could want was provided.after staying in pretty cramp hotel rooms this was a revalation in space and shear value for money.if we come again to edinburgh we will definatley stay here again, and if we stay in other citys we will check out independant apartments like this.away from the souless chains.thankyou for a marvolous holiday exoerience.
““Lovely flat in a nice neighborhood and good location””
This flat has all the conveniences of "home" and is perfect for an extended stay or even for a long weekend holiday. The equipped kitchen and living room are warm and inviting with tasteful decoration throughout. All the rooms in the flat are good size. There is plenty of space and privacy for 2 couples or a family. The bathroom is fantastic with a large tub and separate shower, as well as 2 skylights. If you like relaxing soak in the tub, you will love this bath. I work on the Internet and had no troubles during my month-long stay. The WiFi was fast and worked from almost anywhere in the house. My only suggestion is the mattresses are in need of replacement for a best night's sleep; otherwise it is a very comfortable rental. The neighborhood feels very safe with many families but not noisy. The central location between Leith and Edinburgh is perfect for exploring what each has to offer. It's an easy walk to either New or Old Town or Leith waterfront for dining or there are great restaurants and a food Co-op within a couple of blocks. Taxis are plentiful and a good value or the bus routes all within a couple blocks walking. Because I work in the vacation rental industry, I appreciate good customer service. I received lots of good information about local restaurants, stores and attractions and all my questions were answered promptly. I will not hesitate to recommend and book this property to my clients.
“Fully stocked, adorable flat”
Loacted in a great, friendly neighbourhood close to ammenities! Our stay was wonderful and the owners were quick to answer any questions we had while we stayed.
“Quiet, spacious, home-from-home apartment”
We spent 3 nights here and we really felt at home as it has everything you need and is sympathetically decorated. Despite the cold weather, and the spaciousness of the apartment, it was cosy and warm. The location is on a quiet cul-de-sac but with easy access by bus to the centre of Edinburgh. We did call it 'land of the giants' as aside of the living room all the mirrors are set at a height for very tall people!
It was a wonderful time in Edinburgh, also because of the accommodation we had. It was not only an apartment, but a complete house with lot of space and all the things you need. Amiable furnished and situated in a dreamy little street. Only the heating boiler had to be started every day, but it was easy to manage. Perhaps not for elderly people, because of the steep staircase.
Response from the manager Thanks for your review, and glad to hear that you enjoyed the apartment and the street. A quick update on the heating: The boiler has now been fixed so that it doesn't need to be reset daily. Best regards Martin Vacation Rentals Scotland
