“Just perfect!”

Myself and my partner stayed at GG's By The River for a little getaway for our anniversary, and absolutely loved it. We were greeted on arrival by the friendly smiling faces of both Jennie and Steve, who couldn't have been more lovely. The property is beautifully designed and is pure luxury while still feeling homely. From the lush carpets in the bedrooms, beds like you're sleeping on a cloud, a complimentary hamper of local and homemade products, including a bottle of red wine to enjoy in front of the big crackling fireplace, to the home made cheesecake that was freshly baked for us - we couldn't have asked for more. The location itself is stunning, with the river running along the bottom of the property and all the beautiful animals roaming around - it was absolute heaven! Thank you so much Jennie and Steve for making our anniversary so memorable, I have already recommended your little slice of heaven to lot's of friends and family, and we will definitely be back!

Response from the owner Wow Lucy. Thank you for your lovely review. It was an absolute pleasure having you and Kyal here on your anniversary weekend. You were both such lovely guests to have stay with your own happy smiles. It was great to see you both so happy. Steve and I will celebrate our 43rd anniversary this September. Hopefully you will both reach that milestone as well. Jennie and Steve

“Indulgent stay in Eurobin (near Bright)”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2015

This is the second time we have stayed at GG's, both times around ANZAC day and we will soon be booking again for next year. Jennie and Steve are wonderful hosts and have created a very nice place here. We have stayed with another couple (none of us brought any kids but we can see the place caters well for them too). It has two VERY large size bedrooms each with own en-suites and the beds and linen are beautiful. The standard of everything at GG's is really very high. Jennie prepares a beautiful hamper and home made cakes or muffins which is a lovely surprise when you get there..fridge stocked with fresh goodies and there is nothing in the kitchen that is missing if you need it. As it was cool both times when we went the lovely wood heater was well used and is just great...well stocked wood pile. Wonderful covered deck area outside. Gardens are just lovely for a walk (even in the rain). Down alongside the river with horses, alpacas and chooks. We really love the place and can't wait for another stay there. It's not far out of Bright so don't be put off by that at all. Thanks Jennie and Steve for creating such a great place. You've done a wonderful job. Hope to see you again next year.

Response from the owner Thank you very much Brian and Jennifer for your gorgeous review. We are so lucky to have regular guests such as yourselves and your friends. People ask us, do we ever go away on a holiday. We live in a holiday, with beautiful people visiting us all the time. We could not ask for lovelier guests. Thank you again and see you next year. Jennie and Steve.

there is nothing more perfect then going to GG's by the River. Jennie and Steven are the warmest inviting hosts, they cater to every need and welcome you with open arms. i love staying here i was able to bring my horse and go riding to the winery! If you are not into horse riding that's ok because they also provides bikes which my Mum rode to the winery instead! this is the perfect getaway for every age! the property is immaculate with a stunning landscape which takes you down to the river side where you can have a picnic and glass of wine. What is even more fabulous is the accommodation and facilities, they are so pristine! If you are looking for a fun but relaxing time then there is no better place then GG's by the River!

Response from the owner What a lovely review. Thanks Victoria. It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay here. What a beautiful horse your new horse is . Khai is just lovely. My Chelsea was so in love with him, I am sure she is missing him. Enjoy your new horse and have lots of fun. Hope to see lots more of you. Jennie and Steve.

“Luxury in the country with a personal touch”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2013

On arriving at GGs we were greated by Jennie and Steve our friendly hosts. We were very impressed at the house and found a lovely welcoming hamper full of goodies inside - including a home baked cake, fresh bread from the bakery, milk and chocolate (amongst other things). All of the appliances are modern and easy to use and there is everything you could need onsite. There is an ice-maker, coffee machine and the large screen TV mounted over the top of the fireplace is very cosy in winter. The beds are very comfortable. The location is around 12km from bright and 15km from Myrtleford, so it is about a 10 minute drive to shops, restaurants and bars. The Old Eurobin railway station is directly across the road and the rail-trail runs past with access to hundreds of kms of all weather sealed cycle tracks. There is also a lot of Mountain biking areas close-by (Bright, Beechworth, Mt Beauty and more...). The 2 bikes provided at the property are great for riding along the rail trail and you can get to Bright or Myrtleford by an easy/flat 40 minute ride. It is also very close to Mt Buffalo, a large mountain with lots of great walks. Jannie and Steve were happy to let the kids (and adults) get involved in feeding the animals or leave us in privacy to do our own thing. The right balance. The thing that sets this property apart is the hospitality of Jennie and Steve. They really cannot do enough for you - whether it's lending some jackets to go up to the snow or in my case some tape to fix the grips on my bike. It really felt like we were being hosted by family. They love a chat and will give you all of the information you need about the area. We would definitely stay again.

Response from the owner Thanks Danny, I so appreciate your lovely words. Your family were a pleasure to have on the property, and it would be lovely to see you all again. I hope you enjoyed your shopping along the way home. The sun was shining brightly here today and I reckon I am going to be able to make it for a ride on my horse tomorrow. As I type this I can hear Passionfruit barking at a possum on the roof. Take care lovely people.

“Great place to stay”

Reviewed 5 May 2013

Gg's by the River is a great place to relax. We visited to go cycling (including on the Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail which is across the road), and loved that we could have spent our days relaxing in the apartment and garden or use it as a base to tour the region. Furthermore, both Jennie and Stephen are really friendly hosts who have looked after basically all of the things you could desire on holiday. This ranged from the 'big things' such as the fully furnished kitchen, double glazed windows, reverse cycle air-conditioning, balcony with table, chairs and recliners, etc to the 'little things', such as a home-made cake when we arrived. Our dog also seemed to love the stay; whether meeting Jennie and Stephen's other two dogs, the alpacas or horses or getting huge amounts of attention. We plan to visit again, next time for longer than four nights.

Response from the owner Thank you very much for your lovely review. I have a just found a couple that i have not responded to, including yours. So glad you enjoyed your stay with us. The rail trail is fabulous isn't it. Goes on forever. Hope to see you again. You know where we are.

“A wonderful base from which to explore all the alpine Region has”

Reviewed 5 May 2013

We are so glad to have discovered this beautiful property in Eurobin. Jennie and Steve are two of the friendliest and most knowledgeable hosts you will ever meet. Gg's is pure bliss. A two bedroom, French Provincial styled home fitted out with everything you could ever need. Two large, comfortable bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with quality appliances, laundry and two outdoor dining areas, not to mention the river running right through the property! The gardens are expansive and tendered with care; the animals (horses, alpacas, sheep and dogs) are an absolute delight for both young and old and the surroundings conducive to a peaceful and relaxing holiday. We appreciated the warm welcome upon arrival and the property's proximity to everything the area has to offer. The home was clean and very cosy, the fridge was stocked with a selection of local produce and Jennie's cupcakes were a treat after the long drive. It was obvious that a lot of thought had gone into making this property a home away from home; from the bikes for guests to explore the nearby (flat) tracks, umbrellas by the door, music, games, toys, books and jackets for all members of the family and to suit a wide variety of tastes, down to a handy sensor torch for helping us return to the house safely after our evening barbecue. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gg's and cannot recommend it highly enough. Thanks again Jennie and Steve

Response from the owner Hello, I have just discovered that I have not responded to your review and one other review, so sorry. We always appreciate our guests taking the time to put up a review for us, as word of mouth is the greatest form of advertising. Thank you again for your lovely words. Jennie

“Faultless Luxurious Stay in a Beautiful Part of Victoria”

Reviewed 6 Apr 2013

The whole experience at GGs for us was faultless. The house, the provision, the gardens, the outlook, the design and the fact that everything was so clean. There were lots of things that came together to make the stay so enjoyable, including freshly made cake and bread, bicycles, BBQ facilities by the river on the property, etc. Steve and Jenny really made us feel welcome and even went out of their way with our children in showing them and feeding the animals. It is a really beautiful property for a unique stay in this beautiful part of Victoria.

Response from the owner Hello, so ridiculous that I have just noticed your review. So sorry I am late in responding. I so appreciated your time in putting up a review on your stay with us at GG's. We are so lucky with our guests. Everyone has been so nice and respectful of our property. it is a pleasure to have such nice people stay. Hope to see you again, Jennie.

“Relax in down to earth luxury”

Reviewed 15 Feb 2013

What a delight stay we had at Gg's By the River in January. Jennie and Steve were wonderful hosts, warm and welcoming, happy for a chat but equally conscious of giving their guests some space to relax. And relaxing is easy. There are two king-sized bedrooms, each with its own ensuite and a lovely open-plan kitchen/meals/living area. The kitchen is equipped with all the latest appliances you need to whip up a gourmet meal and there's a dishwasher (yay, no dishes!). There's heating, cooling, a big screen TV and a log fire. But it's the little touches which make this place really special - chocolate muffins on the dining table on our arrival, super soft towels and MOR bathroom products, toys and books for guests' enjoyment. Jennie, Steve and toy poodle Passionfruit live in a separate wing of the beautifully-renovated farmhouse. They also share the property with two alpacas, two sheep and three horses, which they invite guests to help feed in the afternoon. This was a real highlight for my seven-year-old son. There's plenty to do if you want to get out and about but if relaxing is more your style the rear deck is the perfect place to wile away the hours - we sure did. Just a wonderful stay for my family.

Response from the owner Thanks so much Kamahl. That is so nice of you to say those nice words. It was lovely to have you and your family stay here. I hope you are enjoying your new job role. Life is still good here. Hope to see you all again next time you are coming through. Jennie.

“The total package: great hospitality, relaxation and fun.”

Reviewed 4 Feb 2013

Our family immediately felt like part of Jennie and Steve's family, such was the warm welcome we received. The spacious, well appointed rooms provided a really comfortable place to relax and the house had everything we needed. Unwinding on the veranda with a cool drink was my favourite spot. Our boys (aged 7 & 4) had so much fun being part of farm life, feeding the alpacas and horses. Having brought our bikes up we rode out along the Rail Trail which is just across the road. Our other favourite's stops included Bright Organics and the Berry Farm (very yummy ice cream). We all had such a great time that we'll be back.

Response from the owner Thanks Penny for writing such a nice review. It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay with us. Your little boys certainty impressed Stephen with their very intelligent questions. They were certainly braver than the 'big boys' in watching the vet do the little op on Wallace and Gromit. Hope your plans for your new property go all smooth sailing and building is completed sooner than later. it certainly would be lovely to have you and your family back again another time. Jennie.
