“good but needs some repairs”

Reviewed 29 May 2015

The apartment is in the heart of hillside part of the city - Baixa/Chiado, just a 4 minute walk to same Metro station, tram #28 scenic route stops just opposite the scenic tram elevator of Rua de Bica (don't pay 3.60 EUR for a lift, just walk up and down to Cais de Sodre train station that is max 10 minutes walk away if you have a healthy heart!). The apartment is on 4th floor, good for a max two couple stay (beware the beds are very creaky!), VERY small shower (virtually meter by meter). There is a hundred of cafes, pastry shops, restaurants in the area and a mini market with VERY friendly prices in the area of the same street. The apartment has its charm (obviously it is quite old), but floors and doors need repairs ASAP! Kitchen is ok, TV and wifi are qualitative, the neighborhood is a bit noisy in the evenings, but tolerable. Beware this spring there are repair works all around the street, so at 9 am through the day drilling and hammering can be very well heard through the windows. Overall, I would not return to this place as there are more than 700+ apartment offers in Lisbon, but for the first time stay it was good and I had a quite enjoyable stay!

“Best spot in Lisbon”

We were three grandmothers,in excellent shape, but grandmothers still. Arriving with our luggage and having to climb three floors was a formidable task!Luis met us and helped us up.My first tip is that you have to be fit.The Blue House was small and a bit worn. We stayed at the same location on our last night in Lisbon - this time in the apartment opposite, also managed by Luis.It is larger and in better shape.Luis was a tremendous help arranging taxis, giving directions, advice and always being available. He is also a very nice person. Everything was clean and all the amenities were available for our use.We were able to buy groceries, including fresh fruits and vegetables close by.

“Great location in a great city”

The Blue House was a great choice for our recent trip to Lisboa. Cute, clean apartment in a great location. Luis was very helpful in pointing us around the city.

“Unbelievable”

We had a really wonderful trip in Lisboa and this flat was absolutely perfect for us, well located, cute and very romantic! I have loved it!

“An uplifting experience”

Lisbon is build on sever hills, some of them steeper than others. Having the funicular (elevator) take you to your doorsteps is a great help, especially since you still have stairs to climb inside the house. My advise: travel light

“Une situation idéale pour découvrir Lisbonne”

Reviewed 22 Mar 2013

Abrigado Luis !

“Charming, intimate property in great location”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2013

Two adults and one eight year old stayed at The Blue House in February half term. The property manager Luis was extremely helpful with pointing out the best amenities and sights locally, let us check in a bit earlier and arranged to have our bags looked after by the restaurant opposite on check out day. He also left us complimentary custard tarts (pasteis de nata) and a bottle of vino - a wonderful welcome indeed. The property itself is cosy - the bathroom is tiny but it has a good shower. Comfortable beds. Lots of natural light and sweet little windows. Delightful espresso machine (said as someone who doesn't have one at home!). A dining table comfortably seats four in the kitchen. There is a general lack of storage space for clothes but we made do. I think it'd be a squeeze for any more than four people staying here. You get a good view of the river Tejo from the property and it's in a great location - very close to both Bairro alto with its lovely old streets, bars and cafes, and to Chiado, with its great shops and atmosphere. It's right by a stop on the 28 tram route which famously travels past a lot of Lisbon's sights. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend. It's on the third floor with no elevator so it's not for those with compromised mobility, but then neither is hilly Lisbon as a whole, really!

“Blue House is Great”

Reviewed 13 Feb 2013

Staying at the Blue House was really great. There is nothing to complain! Situated right in front of the sweet Bica funicular and amidst nice restaurants and bars, also supermarket and convienience stores nearby. the vivid liveliness in the streets were no problem at all for our night rest. The host is really nice and very helpful. also does he know the bars and restaurants which are fairly more secret and local :-) Overall we had a great Stay in January 2013 thanks Dominik and Mirjam from Berlin

“The best place in Lisbon”

Reviewed 6 Feb 2013

Excellent stay in Lisbon. Everything in on walking distance, places for party, eat, drink, Fado at Tasca da Chico, the 28E line, taxi, metro... Luis is a great guy, ready to help you in any time and situation. Bathroom is a bit small but that is excellent because whole apartment is in some old time and it has something that you can't put finger on but you are sure that is there. I'm defiantly coming back to Lisbon at the Blue House.
