This is what a holiday should be. Staying on a beautiful tropical island in a luxury villa, a staff that cooks the most delicious meals, getting connected to local people, having the time of your life…. Our first trip out of Europe and our first experience with Asia. We definitely will be back, there is so much to do in the North of Bali. Our hosts Ria and Putu showed us the real Balinese life. Some of the highlights: tracking through the ricefields with Putu, watching many dolphins early in the morning, admiring the beautiful Balinese nature… Since this was our first trip so far away from home we were very happy with the help of Ria and Putu. The airport transfer was ideal and Ria helped us out with taking care of daily stuff, like groceries and excursions. The villa is clean and spacious and the beds are big and very comfortable. The terrace and pool are nice, with a great view at the tropical vegetation. Stop hesitating and start booking Villa Riang ;-)

“Authentic Balinese experience!”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2014

The villa was the epitome of luxury, set in the hills (literally) of Northern Bali - it is perfect for people wanting to get away from the chaos of South Bali or for people wanting to experience Bali life in a rural setting. Putu and Ria were absolutely committed to ensuring our stay was perfect, going out of their way to include us in all aspects of their daily life from sharing meals to shopping for fruit at the local stalls, we were treated as part of the family for the duration of our stay. Ria happily arranged all our activities, which included joining Putu for a trek through the rice fields during which he shared his local knowledge regarding religion, traditional medicine and farming - this in itself is an absolute must do - followed by a sumptuous feast cooked by Ria with so much food we had to tell her to stop cooking! I can't recommend this place enough! Although it's a little way to the nearest town centre (10 min to Seririt, about 30 min to Lovina) it is just a beautiful area and Ria and Putu are more than happy to arrange transport anywhere at your request - including transfers to and from Ngurah Rai airport. Stop thinking about it and just book it!!!

“Luxury in the real Bali”

Villa Riang hangs at the top of a deep ravine, covered in lush and attractive tropical rain forest. The area has many irrigation canals feeding into rice padies surrounding the traditional and very friendly village of Mayong. The scenery is aesthetically very pleasing and Mayong is easily accessible from north and south Bali. It just takes a bit of time from southern Bali - but it's well and truly worth it. The Villa itself is beautiful, very spacious and secure. It is clean and very maintained by the hosts Ria and Putu. The Villa is a fusion of Balinese and European styles and provides a cinematic-type view of the surrounding forests. There is something almost unreal about this experience. Added to this experience is the lovely, small pool, an ideal way to cool off, particularly after a day of exploring the local area. The Villa is well equipped with high quality furniture, fittings and appliances. The wi-fi is quite good, particularly by Balinese standards. Importantly, the beds are comfortable with the master bedroom having an en-suite bathroom and air con. Ria and Putu are consummate hosts with nothing being too much trouble. Living in the attached home, Ria, Putu and their family are wiling to share their experiences and their lives. Putu is an experienced and very knowledgeable trekking guide. He understands his village and its way of life very well. This means that those who trek with him are enriched by a deeper understanding of the natural and human environment which they are exploring. Too few visitors to Bali travel beyond the the southern beaches, maybe making a day-trip to Ubud. There is no better place than to experience quintessential Bali than at Villa Riang.

“Could not have had a better experience!!”

Absolutely phenominal experience start to finish. My wife and I along with another couple had the most amazing week at Villa Riang. If you are looking for a true Balanese experience away from the touristic atmosphere of the south (Kuta & Ubud) then look no further. Ria and Putu and their beautiful family play wonderful hosts for your stay. The food prepared by Ria and housekeeper Bibi are fantastic (better than any local restaurant). Unbelievable value and I am certain that booking in the future will become increasingly difficult once word gets around what a gem this place is. We plan to return and wouldn't bother looking around for another place to stay so long as the Villa continues to be looked after by Ria and Putu! Back in the cold of Canada and missing our villa in north Bali dearly!

Wow... That's the first word in my mind. The villa is beautiful..big...and clean. The service of Putu and Ria is amazing. They cook, help with everything and are so nice. The best tips are: the walk with Putu in the ricefields. And a massage in de livingroom. Just go and see/ discover it yourself!

“Amazing stay at Villa Riang”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2013

Me and my friend stayed here only for a few nights and it was the best start of our holiday we could have wished for. They arranged a pick-up from the airport, which is always nice after such a long flight. As I said before we arrived late so it turned dark already, when we woke up the next day and opened the curtains.. It was absolutely a fantastic view! It felt like we were in the middle of the jungle. The house is really nice and clean, the swimming pool with 'jungle-view' and comfortable beds for a good sleep. Ria and Putu are the people who take care of you when you are staying at the Villa and they do know how to take care! With amazing meals all day and also nice that you get to know the Balinese way of living. Putu will get you around the rice fields if you want, which is for sure the best thing to do there, it is so pure and the views are amazing. Other nice activities are; let Ria arrange a massage at the Villa, moondock waterfall, air panas is a hotspring, we went swimming with dolphins in Lovina. Super cool experience! I would definitely recommend Villa Riang to go to! The perfect way to get intouch with the Balinese habbits, nature and stay at a luxurious Villa!

“Great stay”

We plannedd to stay 3 days with our family, but after the first night we booked directly extra nights! Our holiday to Indonesia was not a holiday, it was an experience! We stayed in 9 different locations but this was by far the best! The Indonesian peolpe are very helpfull and friendly. Ria and her staff are a big example of this! We can tell you all kind of things but i suggest you: go & See!

“Beautiful villa on a very nice spot”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2013

We (family of five) spend 5 days in villa Riang. It is a very spacious house with a beautiful view on the woods. This part of Bali is less touristic , but we liked the authentic atmospere. The housekeeper, her husband and the cleaning lady were very friendly and helpfull. Unfortunately our children were a bit ill during their stay in villa Riang, but we could not have had a better place to be looked after! If you want to explore the area, a car would be convenient, but via the housekeeper a taxi can be arranged.

“Balinese dream”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2013

We stayed here for a week in august with our 2 kids (12 and 16). We really enjoyed the warm hospitality of hostess Ria. It is a wonderful house with a great view. The house and interior are built and decorated with love. The pool is fun and we liked the balinese cooking bij Ria and Bibi. The trekking with Putu was a highlight. He told us a lot of Bali and the Balinese rituals. The atmosphere is amazing and we are longing to come back some day. The house is in a quiet neighborhood but Putu can take you where ever you want or Ria organises a taxidriver. There is a book with tips for great excursions to make. Putu and Ria can organise it all. Rafting, elephant trekking, snorkelingm massages, it is all there. We won't forget this wonderful week in paradise.

We stayed for a week in the villa in Mayong and liked it very much. The villa was really beautiful, de beds are very good, the pool is small but nice and the view is wonderful. The villa is located next to the house of Ria and Putu. Our children (2 - 5 and 7 yrs) are more or less of the same age of the children op Ria and Putu. They played a lot with them, in the swimming pool, but also on a tour. Ria and Putu are very, very friendly and Ria is also an excellent cook. We loved the meals she was cooking for us and for the children, there was always a possibility to have some fries of pancakes, although they alse liked the Indonesian food. The trekking with Putu through the ricefields is really nice and if you stay some time in Villa Mayong, you have to do it. For us, staying in Villa Riang, was staying with a Family from Bali and feeling the life on Bali. If we will ever come back in Bali, we will for sure stay in Villa Riang!!!
