“Relaxing desert retreat with amazing views and incredible archit”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2013

I stayed here with my husband as a last minute surprise birthday present to him. We had an amazing time...the house was an amazing retreat, being incredibly relaxing with amazing views and great architectural design. We were also treated by the annual Joshua tree arts festival where we got to see all the local artists exhibit their work in their own homes. The owner was so nice and great to work with and even better he was the architect of the house which was an amazing modern design. I would definitely recommend this vacation rental if you want an incredible place to stay in the Joshua Tree area.

“Sooo Relaxing!”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2013

This place was perfect. I had the most relaxing time with my husband. Jack Rabbit Wash is off the beaten track and is nestled on a hillside overlooking Joshua Tree State Park. The privacy and seclusion that you experience when you are here, washes away all your anxieties. The sunrises are beautiful and the sunsets are spectacular! Aaron was friendly, respectful, and understanding of us and he was always available if we needed anything. The house's architecture makes your experience unique and even more enjoyable. The weekend we stayed, the temperature outside was in the lower thirties. At night it got down to 18 degrees, yet we were comfortable all day. The house has heated floors powered by the sun so at night it stayed nice and warm. During the day it also stayed warm. The house looks cool, but it is even better because of it's functionality. It was designed specifically to use the harsh outside elements as a tool to keep the inside temperature at a comfortable variance. We can't wait to return to Jack Rabbit Wash and spend another relaxing weekend away from all the stress that everyday life brings. Thank you aaron!

“Jackrabbit Wash”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2012

Jackrabbit Wash is a brand new house, and a fantastic place to stay, we had four great nights there. Aaron was great, he showed us the house and all the ins and outs. The house is designed very well, from the sun rise in bed, to sunset in the living room. After sun down we sat on the deck chairs and watched the stars and the glow of the city lights. It is a quick drive to Yucca Valley to gather supplies and do some shopping, then off to Joshua Tree for some day hikes. Joshua is such a great place to visit and staying at Jackrabbit Wash allowed us to visit it many times. Don't forget to take the hike to the palm tree oasis in Joshua Tree, and bring plenty of water. On out last day we took a drive threw the mojave desert, it was so nice to be able to relax in the cool pool back at Jackrabbit Wash.

“R&R; in amazing style”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2012

We stayed two nights at the fantastic Jackrabbit Wash. Aaron is a delightful owner, who was there to greet and guide us. He's put his heart and soul into this place and it really shows. It has all the amenities you might need, and although up a dirt track, is certainly not in the sticks at all, so you can get what you need a short drive away. We popped to Yucca Valley for a quick supermarket shop and cooked a meal in the well appointed kitchen, so the first night we spent under the stars eating and just counting them, and listening to distant dog barks combined with jangling guitar on the stereo. We awoke for the stunning high desert sunrise. And swam straight after - it's instantly hot, so that gorgeous slice of pool is a godsend! The place is a quick drive to Joshua Tree National Park's various entrances, and we whiled away a whole morning there, returning to JT for a slice of pizza at Pie for the People. Then we swam off the day's heat and lie out reading on the deck of Jackrabbit Wash - you could spend your time there doing just that, you don't need to move! But that night we headed to Pappy & Harriet's in nearby Pioneertown for the sunset over the desert range and some chargrilled steaks and ribs, plus fantastic live music. The following morning's sunrise (which can be watched from bed, did we mention you don't need to move much whilst at Jackrabbit Wash?!) was a new affair - high cloud changing the light on the desert's undulations. Can definitely see why you'd paint, photograph, write or following other creative pursuits here - it's very inspiring. Another drive through the JT National Park and out through the Coachella Valley and it was time to head back to la and home... but R&R; was definitely had in spades. Thank you aaron.

“Just Do It!”

If you need to be waited on, love glitz, are considered high maintenance stop reading this isn't the place for you... however if you want a wonderfully tranquil holiday in a wonderfully unique desert location built by an architect who is sharing his materialized passion while visiting Joshua Tree with a pool, sundeck, kitchen, whirlpool in the master, and plenty of fascinating architectural books, drawers of cd's to facilitate whatever musical tastes you imbibe in then your going to love aaron's place in the sun.
