The newly renovated Rainbow Plantation Bed & Breakfast is located on a lush tropical 3 acre plantation on the Big Island of Hawaii. South of Kailua-Kona between Captain Cook and Kealakekua on a cooler 1300 ft elevation with sweeping ocean view. No need for AC up here !

It is a natural, secluded retreat away from traffic and stress, surrounded by many varieties of tropical plants, flowers and organically grown fruit trees. This wild life sanctuary is great for eco travelers, bird watchers and animal/nature lovers who seek a true Hawaiian, non-touristy, non toxic environment in which to relax and unwind.

We offer comfortable, recently renovated private rooms all with their own private bath.

A large tropical healthy breakfast is available and included during high season Dec 20 - March 31. Or use our open gazebo kitchen and dining area, centrally located for all our guests to enjoy.

Response from the owner This review has NOTHING to do with the Rainbow B&B. Guest booked via Flipkey but we never received any email or reservation notice. Turned out they had some issues with our old account. We have now reset our account and it works again. To complain about us, and write a negative review on Tripadvisor is wrong and hurtful.

Response from the owner This guest stayed in our economy room, that I only rent when all other rooms are full. They were told well in advance that the room has a shared bathroom. And it is clean. THEY ONLY PAID HALF PRICE. They did not say a thing or complain when here, in fact I offered them many tips and they stayed for long at breakfast which they said they loved ! And I had nice talks with them. Pretty cowardous to pretend all is great and then write a review based on a shared bathroom.

We have been working for 3 weeks and they now have bamboo flooring, new furniture and new drapes ! All other areas will also get some upgrades and manicure, so when we open in May it will be like new. Without loosing our down to earth feeling and rustic ambience. Hope to see you here again !

If Christian (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
