“A haven of peace and serenity”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2015

I've stayed at Tourne a few times since 2004 and each time I am amazed at how it has developed. The facilities are excellent, the food, if you choose to eat there, is wonderfully wholesome, healthy and of course very tasty! And, the situation of the properties is superb. If you are felling energetic there are great walks in the foothills of the Pyrenees or if you feel you want to relax and chill out the surrounding environment is peaceful and almost totally free from phone signals and wifi ... what a relief! If its more than a vacation you are looking for Ram offers a range of wonderful retreats and courses that will enhance your stay and your life.

Response from the owner Hello Thank you for your positive comments and continued visits. Just wanted to make clear to others that free wifi is available on request. Guests can choose not to use it and in that case it will be turned off this is in recognition that a growing number of people are sensitive to such things. The mobile phone network can sometimes be accessed in the garden but does not enter the house. Hope to see you again soon warmest regards Paula

“Vacances en famille à Tourné”

Reviewed 9 May 2014

“Total relaxation and pleasure”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2014

We had a wonderful time staying at Tourne. The gite is small but very well organised so it was fine for four adults (as long as at least two are agile as the stairs are steep). Everything we needed was provided and Paula and Ram could not have been more helpful, but did not intrude on our privacy in any way. The wood burning stove took the chill off the gite for the cold nights and the sun shone brightly during the days. There are lovely walks from the gite or, if you drive a short distance, you can get to higher mountains with snow covered peaks. As dog lovers, being able to borrow Baton and Nightwing for walks was the icing on the cake! Chez Victor is within easy walking distance for a genuine French meal. The local shop provided the basics and supermarket was only a 15 minute easy drive away.

“Amazing Space to Stay In”

“Lovely.”

Reviewed 22 Nov 2013

Ram and Paula and deeply lovely people who have a beautiful home in the ariege region of France. Their house and cottage, and their situation within the region do justice to its beauty and way of life. Come here if you wish to re-connect, enjoy areas of outstanding natural beauty and see rural southern france. Beautiful any time of year, with charming hosts that would go to any lengths to make you feel welcome. I highly recomend it.

“Quiet relaxing holiday location”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2013

Very welcoming and hospitable hosts in Paula and Ram. This was an ideal location to relax and use as a base for short local travel in the spectacular Pyrennes scenery and delve into local history. Gite was compact but had everything. Great local restaurent and the weather in late September was still very good.

“Relaxation and friendliness”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2013

After a long drive we arrived. After arrival we soon relax in the beautiful surroundings of the house . Our children had the freedom to play in the garden and the adjacent river. The owners are very open and welcoming , this also applies to their son and dogs . They have the house and the main location nicely renovated to today's standards , but have managed to retain its original appearance . Moreover, they have managed to create an air of tranquility and already an atmosphere. If you step out the door you are surrounded by nature , you can hear the river flowing , etcetera . Besides enjoying the nature there is plenty to do in the vicinity ( within 30 minutes ) : towns and castles , caving , climbing, swimming . You name it, there is something for everyone . The only downside that we can think of , is that when you come back in your own environment the transition from rest to the current hectic makes you long for that beautiful place again.

“Great Value and Pleasant hosts in a Beautiful Setting”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2013

Our family of four stayd in the cottage for 4 nights in July 2013. The cosy cottage was clean, well apointed and in a beautiful setting. It was a haven to return to after a day of exploring the area and watching the Tour de France. (Viva Froome)Paula and her family was the perfects hosts assisting where needed but never intrusive. The host's son , Jeeva, our kids and the resident dogs played themselves to sleep in the evenings. Paula and Ram supply more than a bed to sleep in. It was a great country experience. Thank you once again.

“A Haven in the ariege”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2013

What a fabulous spot! We arrived in a snow storm, but within the week the temperature had risen to 27C and Spring had sprung! Such a beautiful setting with a lovely garden to sit in. The gite has everything to make a stay very comfortable and the log fire was wonderful on the cold evenings. Excellent walks very close and so much to see and do within a couple of hours driving. We can recommend a visit to Carcasonne, which recently featured in the TV programme Labyrinth. Very friendly hosts who made us feel so welcome we would highly recommend this as a place to stay for anyone wanting to "chill out" and get away from the bustle of normal life. Would love to have stayed longer especially after the long drive, and plan to stay longer next time. The French roads are so good that driving is actually a pleasure, compared with our experience in the UK.

“How can you capture the beauty of this place on a website?”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2012

This place was a real gem... to think I was a bit apprehensive of booking online - it looked nice on the website but when I arrived, I couldn't believe it. Surrounded by nothing but mountains and clean air, it felt magical. The wood burning stove became a true friend by the end of my trip - keeping me warm whilst I traveled to distant lands in my book. The bright sunshine during the day - I didn't think it possible to be minus five overnight and get to over twenty degrees during the day but when the sun came out - it was glorious. I was surprised by the time I left how attached I had become to the place and the people. It was comforting everyday to to see the owners working in the gardens and collecting their wood for the following winter, always with a smile about them. I know everywhere I stay will now have some comparison to this place. I am reticent about posting this review because it means others might also fall in love with the place and it might be booked up next time I want to come, but I have to post it because it really does have a special place in my heart!
