“PERFECT”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2014

We just got home from a trip to California which began with a week long stay at this studio in Novato. What a wonderful way to begin our trip!!! If you are planning on exploring Northern California, you couldn't pick a better spot. We took day trips to Sonoma, Napa,up the coast as far north as Mendacino, and , of course, to San Fransisco; all comfortably doable. Novato is a small city with a quaint historic district, and easy access to anything you might need. The property is fantastic!!! Very private, spacious, immaculate and tastefully decorated. Jack and Ann are more than hospitable, without being invasive. If you need them, or anything, they are more than helpful. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck making plans for the day looking out at the spectacular view and then coming back to this delightful space after a long day was so relaxing. I would recommend this rental. I can't think of a single negative- perfect!!!

“Serene property, charming studio and really nice people!”

My wife, two dogs, and I stayed at this property for two extended periods in November and December. We loved it, and grew to be good friends with the owners, Jack and ann. Our dogs, Murphy and Paolo, also became "best buds" with the resident canines, Zorro and Blondie. The owners' home and the studio apartment sit on over an acre on the crest of a hill with views through beautiful oak trees of the rolling hills surrounding the town of Novato and San Pablo Bay. The studio apartment feels much larger than the published dimensions. It has a sleeping area, up-to-date bathroom, sitting area for watching TV, kitchenette with a table and chairs, large closet, and balcony from which one can sit and watch the setting sun. The dogs were in heaven, as we were able to let them roam freely on the property which is completely fenced, as much to keep deer and wild turkeys out as the dogs in. Our daughter, son-in-law, and their new baby live in Novato. So, we plan to make many visits back to see Jack and ann. I only hope the studio is still available after this review.

“From the top of the hill great views.”

This is a lovely studio apartment. Very sharp looking, very modern bathroom,(shower only). Bedroom/livingroom/kitchen area very attractive. Great place for two people. We had a few guests over and it was roomy enough. The deck from the apartment overlooks a wonderful view and we were encouraged to walk around the entire property and found great views all around. Our hosts Jack and Mary were very gracious. It is a narrow curvy road up the hill but it is only about a 5 to 10 minute drive I think.

“Great place to stay in Novato!”

Loved staying at this beautiful oasis. Jack and ann are great hosts. The place is large, private and has a great view of the hills. I definitely recommend this place for a single or couple travelling through the area.

“Brilliant place and people”

We stayed here for one week and had a great time. Our kids loved the pool, the garden, the dogs and the people. The in-law unit is really nice with views of Novato and the bay. Jack and his wife are super friendly.

“The absolute perfect place for a get-away vacation in the San Fr”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2013

This was a perfect place for my wife and i to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The location is tremendous. Close to Sonoma, Napa, Pt. Reyes National Sea Shore, Stinson Beach, Muir Woods, Mt. Tamalpais, Sausalito, San Francisco, etc., etc. It is done very nicely with wood floors, tile in the bathroom, a nice marble topped kitchenette, and a truly million dollar view from its private deck. Windows galore showcase the views. Skylights provide beautiful lighting. It is like you are stepping in to your own private home. The hosts are wonderful people and very accomodating. If you are looking for a home base for a vacation or some time in Northern California, you will not find a better place than this wonderful vacation home.

“Relax in the treetops”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2012

The setting is wonderful! The views and location on the ridge top make it feel like you are in a treetop bungalow, while the amenities rival any 5-star hotel. The hosts are very helpful, and so kind. We regret we did not have more time to sit and chat with them more. We were never really more than 45 minutes from any sights we wanted to see, and it was so nice to get away from the 'hoopla' associated with the more tourist-y locales. Also, Novato is a great little town with any store you could think of. Great experience! If there wasn't so much to do in San Francisco and the surrounding area, we would have spent more time on site -- guess we'll save that for next time!

“Great Hosts, Great Home, Great Location!”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2012

My wife and I stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary and we couldn't have been more pleased! Using Novato as a home base was ideal, being just 30 minutes to either San Francisco or Sonoma/Napa wine country, and having every amenity you might possibly need (including a ups store that ships wine!). That said, the house was even better. Jack and ann were wonderful hosts and obviously take great pride in the upkeep of the home and the care and comfort of its residents. As for the view, the pictures don't do it justice and I still have "sunrise in the valley" pictures from the deck as the wallpaper on my phone and laptop (they're great reminders of a wonderful trip). Overall, we had a wonderful experience with the hosts, the home, and the location, and would love the chance to stay there again!

“A Great Place to Stay”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2012

The location was a wonderful place to stay for two nights and preferably a week or two. It is very clean, neat and quiet. I swear that it is brand new. All of the expected amenities are there. The location is very convenient to Napa and Sonoma. Sonoma is really worth visiting. A beautiful town in the midst of vinyards. The Black Bear Diner is a great breakfast and lunch. The Blakemores are delightful people. Ann & Jack really make you feel at home. Although the accomodations are technically attached to the Blakemore residence it "feeels" like a separate building. The on-line pictures of the views do not do it justice. The views are magnificent - especially in the morning! Truely a great place to stay.
