“Great relaxing vacation!”
We have rented this home twice now with 2 other couples. The house is nicely laid out for 3 couples with lots of room. The private heated pool is great as well as the convenience of the canal for your boat or just fishing. The owners are very attentive to your wishes, and any matters that may crop up. It is in a very convenient spot close to dining, shopping, parks, etc. We just love going there!
“Pre Christmas Getawat”
The house and location were perfect for our vacation. The furnishings were nice and the kitchen was well-equipped. The view was lovely and the private beach was not far away. The community is lovely and close to restaurants and shopping. The host could not have been more accommodating and we would definitely rent again.
Close to everything. Walked to our favoite bar, Sparkys. Pool was great. Realtively quiet neighborhood.
“Great house in great location in Marathon (Key Colony Beach)”
Great spacious 3 BR 2 bath home with all the amenities - pool, private beach, canal frontage for a boat. The owner is very nice and answers all of your questions promptly. Everything is well organized with complete instructions. Kcy Colony Beach is a fantastic location in the keys. Close (1 1/2 to Key West without all the hassle and crowds. Go for a day and then relax here. Nice little nine hole par three golf course with club rentals for a low price. Also, try Sparky's for great food and happy hour. Don't miss Cabana Breezes for fun as well. Oh, rent a bike. Great bike riding trails all over the area.
“Relaxing and Wonderful Stay... felt like Home”
The house was well equipped and convenient to beach, local little bar and bakery. We had a small problem with the pool and it was promptly fixed within the day. Owner very attentive by phone and email. We spent our first Christmas away from home with our adult children in this home and had a lovely time. Would happily return.
“Our Standards Have Been Raised”
My wife, myself and two dear friends had a wonderful week in Casa Mar azul III and have developed a new set of standards for future vacation rentals as a result of what we had available to us here. The new standards are: + must have own pool...the experience at Cmaiii of having our own (heated) pool was a game changer. When we got up in the morning we hopped in the pool, when we got back from tennis we hopped in the pool, after we watched the sun go down we hopped in the pool and before we went to bed we hopped in the pool. + we must be in walking distance to all of the ammenities of the area...we walked to the two best restaurants in the area (Sparky's and Key Colony Inn), we walked to the dive shop (next door to Sparky's) for our snorkeling excursions, we walked to the tennis courts, we walk to the golf course, we walked everywhere. + we must be in an area that has control over the standards of the community...Kcb has its own beautiful parks, its own playgrounds, its own police, its own maintenance (everything mowed and trash free) and its own sense of community. + we must have a home that can comfortably accommodate 6 people and their needs...eventhough there were only four of us it was nice to have three bedrooms (light sleeper, afternoon nap, etc.), some of us watched TV/while others surfed the net/while others prepared a meal/while others took a shower/while others were in the pool and no one felt cramped or their space invaded. In a "nut shell" we have now been spoiled.
“Started off being an enjoyable experience...marred by post-renta”
My family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our time in Key Colony Beach and a large part of it was due to the comfort of this home-the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, and pans for cooking. We cooked 3 out of 7 nights (did not use the grill since the grill parts were oxidized-parts were on order). The three rooms were plenty for three adults in the master and guest bedroom, and twin beds for a college student and a high school student. We enjoyed swimming in the pool at the end of most days and relaxing on the pool deck. We checked out a day early because we had a long drive to Ft Lauderdale airport and were stuck at the airport due to myriad delayed flights due to winter storms. Our wonderful experience at Key Colony Beach was marred when I received an email by the owner while at the airport accusing us of taking a sofa cushion and breaking the blender. We received photos of a 'missing' sofa cushion and the 'broken' blender the day after we checked out. My blood was boiling when I saw the photos. The photo of the blender we were accused of breaking was not the same blender in the house! He sent a photo of a white blender with a broken part; however, the blender at the house we rented had a black and chrome finish. Had we not taken photos of the blender, what other recourse would we have as renters??? The owner emphatically stated that his housekeeper was 'thorough.' As of the writing of this review, I don't know if I'll see my deposit because it is my word against the 'thorough' housekeeper's word. We found a number of problems upon arrival that we could have been blamed for had we not reported/photographed (bleach-stained towels, damaged garage wall, entry light not working). Take inventory upon check-in! We took photos upon entering and upon exiting the house because it is our word against maintenance, property managers, and a 'thorough' housekeeper when the owner doesn't even know what is in his own house!! Lovely house-poor rating is for overall experience.
Response from the owner This guest emailed me a few days prior to arriving that they were going to take photos of our home on the day they arrived. I believe that the only reason someone would take photos upon arriving at a rental home is if they already had past issues at previous rental homes they stayed in. I was already uncomfortable after reading that email as we offer a high end furnished home. Late Saturday afternoon I received a phone call from my housekeeper stating that a sofa back cushion was missing and a blender was broken. Photos were going to be sent later in the day. I called our guest and advised them of the missing sofa cushion and broken blender. The guest insisted that they did not take a cushion and that they took photos of the home and would send them to me. I wrote an email to the guest asking them that if they took photos of the home when they arrived, then why did they not notice that one of the sofa back cushions was missing? Also they must have used the sofa all week and someone would most likely have noticed that one of the sofa back cushions was missing. The customer only sent me a photo of the kitchen with the blender. I was the one that noticed that the blender in the photo my housekeeper sent was white and the one from the home our guest was using was stainless. I sent an email to this guest stating that my housekeeper may have miss communicated with me as to which home the broken blender photo was taken from. I advised this guest that I would be driving from Fort Lauderdale to the FL Keys this Wed. and investigate the missing cushion and the broken blender and that I would get back to our guest by the end of this week. This was the very first time we have ever had a sofa cushion missing from one of our vacation homes. After having a long discussion with my management staff and housekeepers I decided not to charge our guest for the missing sofa back cushion. On Jan. 5 I sent this guest an email and here is the exact copy of what I sent the to my guest. We have discussed this issue at length with all of our staff and I decided to waive the charge for the missing sofa cushion. Nothing like this has happened before and we hope you understand that we always try our best to have a happy and mutual outcome on any issue. Thank you for working with us and I will get back to you later next week regarding the broken blender. Thank you, John After sending this email, I have "No Idea" why this guest would state that she does not know if she will receive her deposit back after we already advised her that there would be no charge for the missing sofa cushion. All of my phone discussions and emails were on a professional and non emotional level. We would have thought the guest would be very pleased with our decision not to charge for the sofa back cushion but I think she was to emotional and perhaps she did not read or realize that we already decided not to charge her for the sofa cushion. As for the front door light. I sent my maint. man out the same day that our guest mentioned it was not working. My maint. man said he could not get the light bulbs to come out due to corrosion and he would need to replace the entire light fixture which he did the next day with a brand new light fixture. We have received the grill parts and are replacing them this week. If you read our reviews you will "Take Notice" that most if not all of them are "5 Star Reviews." We have been in the family Hospitality business for 44 years since 1970. We do our best at customer service and we always do our best in favor of taking great care of our guests and any issues that come to our attention. We were disappointed in receiving this unfairly judged review but we are very confident that anyone who reads this response will clearly see that we are going above and beyond to solve this matter in caring and favorable manner.
“A vacation in Paradise!”
The home was wonderful for our vacation! We really enjoyed everything about all the amenities- a heated pool, a boat dock where we could keep our boat for easy access to the gulf and the ocean, 3 roomy bedrooms, a modern kitchen with all the modern appliances, a beautiful view, roomy parking, to name a few!! We had 2 little girls with us, and we could secure the doors easily with an alarm. We had a few cool days but we could still enjoy the pool! We would definitely like to stay there again next year, and would recommend it to anyone! It was close access to lots of great restaurants, the beach, museums, and local activities. It was truly a dream vacation in the Keys!!!
“Very enjoyable vacation. Excellent location and wonderful house”
The house is very comfortable and contains everything needed for an enjoyable vacation. Excellent air conditioner, wonderful private pool right out the back door and next to the canal. Really enjoyed sitting by the pool and watching the pelicans swim on and fly over the canal. There are three very good water front restaurants within walking distance all with excellent seafood and happy hour specials. Key Colony Beach is has good walking and biking paths and extremely friendly people.
