“Relaxing and convenient walking and biking to all attractions”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2013

Some things had not changed even after 5 June visits: comfortable, spacious living, clean, tidy inside. The rental agents were friendly and efficient aiming to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Since our 2011 visit, the owners had installed a badly needed new deck. But for their comparative rental fee, the owners ought to consider attending to other property maintenance issues: remove outdoor Christmas decorations before June; replace the worn-out BBQ; insist that the cleaners wash the front door entrance and lamps, sweep steps clean of dirt and debris; remove the bicycle frame (same one from our 2011 visit?) from the premises; fix the broken bedroom window handle; clean window ledges removing unsightly winter debris; replace the stove's hood with a "vent to outside" to stop the smoke detector from overreacting. The Wi-Fi system is inadequate for today's traveller and needs its own transmitter. This will be a condition of any future visit. A courtesy suggestion: leave a wide broom and/or a cordless leaf blower for the guests to use to rid the court of constant debris. Also, please adjust the fencing to prevent lost balls. Finally, a point which was most disturbing to our 9 night stay this June. Using the a/C and opening all the windows for hours didn't mask a strong foul odour obvious from the outset of our arrival. We purchased deodorizers and scented shelf paper so we could sleep, eat and read better. Because our stay was longer than most visitors, this situation was upsetting. We would be pleased to return to this lovely setting in the future. Acknowledging the challenge for any owner to manage a rental property to the liking of a wide range of visitors, we contend that as repeat visitors, we notice that for the said rental fee, our return value would no longer be compromised if our list of issues were acted upon in earnest. Thank you for the opportunity to write our experiences in an open and honest way.

Response from the manager We’ve had a great vacation rental season, not only because the weather was the best summer ever, but also because of all the great things to do in and around town. That’s what I love about NOTL, there is always something new and interesting happening! We were able to resolve the wifi connectivity issue and we’ve not had any cause for concern since we put the new equipment in. The minor fixes were done before the next guest arrived. The odor was caused by the previous guest spilling an entire bottle of pinsesol (which they had brought with them, primarily our cleaning products are Shaklee which are environmentally friendly and allergy free). We did advise the guest of this problem at check in and it was our understanding that the aroma dissipated after awhile. I personally cannot stand the smell of pinesol, once that smell is in my nose, I can’t shake it (my sister however, won’t’ clean with anything else!). I can certainly understand the dismay of having to wait until the air cleared of its pungent odour but this was beyond our control. Had we heard from the guest during their stay, we could have tried to relocate until the smell dissipated. We had such a terrible wet Spring, we delayed doing a major clean on the outside of the house. The brooms were there but in the basement because we had not put them out for the season yet. We have had a great many guests enjoy our vacation home and while we love to do our best there are some requests that we just aren’t able to oblige. 2013 was our first full season with this vacation home and we now have a good sense of its appeal! With fall already started the tennis court will be not be used so much, but the gas fireplace is a welcoming feeling when you are coming in from a day of activity on a chilly fall or winter evening! We look forward to another season in 2014 when we’ll get greet our returning guests and meet new guests who enjoy our town while staying at the ideal location of our vacation home and enjoying its amenities!

“Quaint cottage for couple getaway”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2013

Fully modernized, clean & comfortable. Everything you need for a couple . Great location too. We'll be back.

Response from the manager Thanks for the review!! This is such a sweet place and set up for two people and just a 5 minute stroll from Queen Street with all the shops and theatre, a 10 minute stroll in the other direction takes you to several of the best restaurants in town! Unfortunately there is some road work being done as the town is updating its infrastructure, however it is scheduled to be finished soon!! We are so glad that you would like to come back, the Strawberry Festival was a huge success as it is every year! Take care, Janet and Eric

“Great anniversary spot!”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2013

My wife and I planned an extended get-away for our anniversary and we were very pleased with the Courtside 2 cottage owned by Niagara Holiday Rentals. The cottage was very cozy, clean, and bright and very contemporary. We really had a wonderful road-trip mostly due to this exceptional rental!

Response from the manager We are glad that you enjoyed your time at Courtside 2. We like to thank you for your kind words. We look forward to seeing you soon! Janet

“Excellent stay at the Courtside II”

Reviewed 18 Nov 2012

A wonderful accommodation for 1 or 2 persons. Clean, modern, full kitchen and BBQ, flat screen TV, washer/dryer and air Conditioning. 10 minute walk into town and the Shaw Theatres. Short bike ride to a small beach or to fruit stands on the Niagara parkway. Plenty of fresh or supermarket food in the area (also plenty of dining options in town too). Janet and Eric were excellent managers (only one small issue arose and it was taken care of immediately). All in all, a great get-away from Toronto. Janet and Eric of Niagara Holiday Rentals were terrific, as is this property. I would (and have) recommended it to friends.
