Very Good

“Best ever apartment anywhere”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2014

After a one-month stay, we hated to leave this lovely apartment. It is cheerfully full of light, spacious and comfortable. The contrast between the ancient building and the fashionably modern decor is pleasing. Everything in the apartment is high quality -the furnishings, the kitchen accoutrement, the appliances and even the doors and windows. We felt safe and secure since the property requires keys in 3 locations to access the apartment. The elevator was a great boon. Gloria's apartment is a wonderful location about 2 blocks from the main piazza which we called "the town's living room." A major bus stop is less than a block away and a taxi stand is conveniently nearby in the main piazza. We absolutely adored Ferrara because of the beauty, history, the friendly, cheerful people and ease of getting around. We decided that it is the perfect size town for longer-term stays. We particularly enjoyed 4 restaurants that were close: Ristorante Cà d' Frara, Il Don Giovanni, Ristorante Sofisti (pizza) and Ristorante Raccano (in our cloister). We also took the train to Florence, Parma, Ravenna, Bologna and Verona. We rented a car and drove to the Abbey of Pomposa. To get to Ferrara, I flew into Venice, an easy 1-hour train ride away. My friend flew into Bologna, about 45 minutes away. My friend and I agreed that this was the best of the many apartments we have rented.

“A comfortable and beautiful apartment in an ideal location.”

My wife and I stayed in Gloria's apartment during april and May 2008. It was a comfortable, quiet new apartment, with all the modern conveniences, in a magnificent 13th-century nunnery located in the very center of the old city. Across the street were the opera house, duomo and central plaza; and a short walk took us to historical sites, restaurants and espresso bars, grocerys, and the train station - with frequent connections to Bologna and all northeastern Italy. We often rode the provided bicycles on the pathway around the city wall. There was also doorside parking for the car we rented a couple of times. Luigi and Valentina could not have been more considerate hosts. They made certain we had everything we wanted, and took time to provide information and advice that led us to wonderful experiences we would never have found otherwise. And when we both had a brief flu virus they even brought food so we wouldn't have to go out and helped us get medical care.
