“Peaceful country escape”

Really enjoyed the stay here. Very complete driving and house directions provided by the owners, and checking in - even at a late hour - was a breeze. The house was very clean, woods and lake were beautiful. Many of the house features and amenities look pretty new, and the views were fantastic. Nice private location. A great place to relax and savor life, and regretted having to leave. Very nice!!

“Girls weekend”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2013

we picked this house b/c it seemed like an adorable cottage for a little girls weekend - and it was excellent. it was a great central point for a lot of activities in the area, and the home itself is so well maintained and lovely. everything we could possibly need - from kitchen equipment, towels, extra paper goods, instructions for the tv, games - was taken care of. now my friend and i are actually going up again & taking our husbands and children with us - there's plenty of space in this great rental.

“The place to go when you want to leave it all behind”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2013

After a very busy and very stressful spring, we were looking for a place to go where we could just unwind. Someplace serene, in nature (but not rustic), away from people, and noise. And that's exactly what we found at the cottage. Surrounded by trees, on the lake, sounds of the babbling brook through the night. It actually rained the entire time we were there - which really, really forced us to stay put and relax. We read and played games, and cooked, and took naps. Sometimes we watched TV or got on the internet, but not much. The little store just a couple blocks provided whatever little items we went in search of - and as a bonus, the locals having lunch there introduced us to a great local brew: Berkshire Brewing Company Cabin Fever ale. The cottage itself was exactly as described and we were happy to find the place and its contents very clean. And comfortable. The kitchen had a good assortment of cookware, although the knives could use some sharpening. It would've been nice to walk the back roads, or kayak on one of the several lakes, or see the beavers building dams - but we look forward to doing those things on our next visit. It was exactly the vacation we were hoping for - and how often can you say that? Book it - you won't be disappointed.

We were looking for a weekend getaway from NYC, and Becket presented itself as the perfect solution. Just a few hours from New York, we arrived and were immediately taken by how peaceful and isolated the cottage was. This was exactly what we were looking for. The house is beautifully renovated and the space is maximized. The best feature of the house is the wood-burning stove (woodpile available outside the cottage). We could not have asked for a better way to spend the weekend. We relaxed by the fire, cooked our meals in a full and well-stocked kitchen, and went on some great hikes nearby. The owner was also incredibly accommodating, providing us with detailed instructions for everything we could have possibly needed. Also, the keycode system for the door is really helpful, especially if traveling with a group. No one has to worry about keeping track of a key or making sure to be home to let others in. Each group visiting the cottage creates a unique key code that unlocks the door. If you're deciding on a place to stay in the Berkshires, stop here...

“Great vacation cottage”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2012

It is a great place to vacation and the peace and quiet is so nice. The cottage is very clean and everthing you need is there for you.We took long walks on the dirt roads with nature all around us.It was nice to canoe on the pond and see the dam built by the beavers.I'f you want things to do it's only 20 min away and a real nice ride in the country. We are looking forward to staying here again soon and couldn't ask for anything better.

“Idyllic retreat”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2012

Quiet rural getaway in a beautiful setting. The backyard ends in the pond shown in the picture, which is surrounded by trees in full fall color. I spent a few hours perched at its edge and lost track of time for the first time in weeks. A complete absence of traffic noise means that the only outside sounds are of running water and rustling leaves, so you can hear yourself breathe. Not much by way of entertainment and dining in the immediate area once summer's over, but larger towns are within a 20 min drive. The kitchen has everything needed to make and eat meals. The cottage itself is comfortable and roomy, with wifi, satellite tv and modern heating and cooling. Owner's instructions are welcoming and thorough, and she is accessible by phone. An easy, fail-safe recommendation.
