Description

Frith's Cottage

Located in the centre of the market town of Ashbourne, Frith's Cottage is well situated to explore all that the local area has to offer. Being the gateway to Dovedale, Ashbourne is certainly an excellent venue for those wishing to explore the Derbyshire Dales and Staffordshire moorlands on foot. For those who prefer pedal power, the Tissington Trail starts in town and offers a cycle friendly route to Hartington and beyond.

Ashbourne is well appointed with fine pubs and hostelries, as well as great restaurants and cafes for those wishing to be catered for. Traditional butchers, bakers and an excellent fish and game monger also grace its cobbled streets. Antiques also feature heavily in the town with many antique shops side by side in the well appointed Church Street. Stylish visitors to Frith's Cottage will find sartorial elegance and style in the numerous fashion boutiques and outfitters. Alton Towers is also located nearby if the visceral thrills of a theme park appeal.

House rules

This is a hidden gem in an urban environment. Visitors should be respectful of other nearby residents needs. While socialising on the secluded courtyard patio is welcomed and encouraged this is in no way a venue for parties or loud noise and as such they will not be tolerated.

Response from the owner Thanks for the review. I've been up this weekend just gone and fixed the light switch and replaced a few lamps and bulbs. Thanks for your feedback during your stay. It's only through this that I can keep the cottage up to spec for future guests.

Lovely cottage, hidden away in the middle of the hustle & bustle of the market town of Ashbourne . Great place to stay to visit the Pesk District. Excellent value for money.

Response from the owner Thank you so much Janis. I'd given up on the reviews after having some negative feedback from someone who I went out of my way for. It means a lot to me to know people appreciate the effort I put into making Friths Cottage a nice place to stay.

Response from the owner My first "bad" review. I have always made a point of emphasising the situation regarding parking to customers. As the cottage has a town center location. Parking is 40 pence on the Market Place all evening every evening, more in the daytime. However, as there are Markets on a Thursday and Saturday, I always suggest that customers park at the free car park about 400 yards away at the recreation ground, on nights before markets. I reiterate, I have always been very clear about this to ALL customers. I cannot, however, be made to feel responsible for peoples bad driving or bad parking. As you had such trouble finding the cottage as well, no one else has, I wonder if there might be an underlining optical problem. Never again, indeed!
