“Idyllic paradise”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2014

We are most grateful to you for sharing your little corner of paradise with us. Being in the Boat House is like staying on a house boat, with the shimmering water under our feet as we relaxed on the deck. You provided everything we needed....including lovely weather, dolphins, sea otters, seals, eagles, cormorants, hummingbirds, gold-finches, kingfishers, goldfinches, kingfishers, woodpeckers, a full moon, star-studded nights, cool sea breezes, etc., etc.......all contained within your cozy and very comfortable Boat House. There is not a more peaceful, tranquil setting on the planet! We thoroughly enjoyed our visits with you both. There definitely will be a next time. Now that we have discovered your piece of heaven on earth, we'll be back to your magical spot to have our souls refreshed and renewed.

“A Wonderful Escape”

Reviewed 26 Mar 2014

Our family of four have just returned from a lovely long weekend spent at Daffodil Cove Cottage. We relaxed in the cozy and comfortable cabin, and delighted in the breath-taking views over the ocean from our deck during the day, as well as the wonderful night sky after dark (no light pollution). The setting is stunning, surrounded by tall trees, and dotted with pockets of daffodils, in full bloom right now. We very much look forward to a return visit.

“Peaceful Retreat”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2014

This was our second visit to Daffodil Cove Cottage and it definitely won't be our last! It already feels like our home away from home. The cabin itself has everything you could want or need, everything works and is in good repair. We love the little wood stove, especially this visit when there was a fair bit of snow. We especially enjoyed the new updated shower head with lots of pressure! Because of an unexpected spring snowstorm, we were unable to get to the island on the date we had planned and Harald and Sabine were very accommodating and allowed us to push it back a couple of days. We still had no power until late on the first evening but it was warm and cozy and fun to cook dinner on the wood stove and eat by candlelight. The hosts were very generous in offering us an extra night free and fortunately we were able to take advantage of this. It was a very special thing to do and has never happened to us before. Thank you again, Harald and Sabine.

“Our Canadian Cocoon”

"Our wonderful visit is winding down as we prepare to re-enter the "other world". The peace and tranquility of the cottage and its surroundings have slowed us down and re-energized all our senses! Already looking forward to another visit. The sea lions, eagles and deer will exist in our memories until we meet again. I especially enjoyed the biking and the challenging hills of Salt Spring! Still a few roads on the isle I have to return to ride!. Suzy loved the shopping in Ganges and all the bookstores."

“Second Visit to Boathouse @ Daffodil Cove Cottage : )”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2013

Such a beautiful place to relax. A few years ago, we got engaged on the deck at sunset - with a seal watching us. Now we're married and came back to enjoy some quiet time together, and it was wonderful. We saw many pretty deer on the property, a family of 5 otters - swimming past us eating fish, chomp, chomp, chomp - porpoises playing and a big sea lion with majestic whiskers, snorting past us. The loons came by too - along with gossipy, chirpy V formations of geese. It was a fantastic four days. Thank you for letting us stay at this private little Boathouse again.

“Total privacy & relaxation at the Boathouse!”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2013

What a joy to be in The Boathouse again! I have never experienced the scenic location such as this anywhere else before in Canada or Europe. The sun deck makes it difficult to read a favourite author due to the varied sea life and traffic going past-from otters and dolphins to sport and commercial shipping including the BC Ferries coming out of Swartz Bay. The Boathouse is comfortably equipped with bedding, kitchen essentials such as sugar and coffee and common seasoning essentials. It is ideal for a couple or for a young family of three. Its interesting design is one of comfort and efficiency. We have also stayed at the Cottage with a larger number of guests (4) and it is also well done. Our hosts, Sabine and Harold, make their guests feel very welcome and provide lots of local data and interesting stories. Provision of TV reception as well as WiFi connection makes communication to the outside world possible when necessary. This was our fourth stay over the years at Daffodil Cove in both accommodations and is without doubt our most favourite vacation place. I can only hope that my highly recommended opinion of this property will not fill this wonderful location to a point where I can't get back in when desired in the future. I feel as if I am letting a secret well kept out that may become very populated in the future!! Al Gaunce

“Would do this again!”

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We desired to have a week to relax and forget about the stress of daily living. This was our first time on Salt Spring Island and made our reservation on line. When we arrived the deer were greeting us before we had reached the cottage. We found everything clean, a very quiet surrounding, which we enjoyed. We used our bikes to go to Ganges where we enjoyed lunches at the Tree house Restaurant, what we liked is that Salt Spring Island has its own character. You will not find a Tim Horton's or a Dairy Queen, it is all unique, Sabine and her husband were very hospitable, any questions we had were addressed and we are planning to come back next year, because this was a great experience. I would not hesitate to recommend the cottage to others.

“Idyllic getaway on SaltSpring Island”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2012

We love coming to SaltSpring Island every summer and staying at Daffodil Cottage or Sabine and Harald's oceanside boathouse. The setting is idyllic and peaceful with views towards the ocean and Vancouver Island. You can easily walk down to the ocean and gaze at the always changing views of boats to birds to kelp to starfish. There are also always deer around. You feel transported to another world as you leave the modern world and its problems behind. The hiking on Saltspring is underrated and should not be missed. Sabine and Harald are very helpful and have always accomodated any request we have had of them. The accomodations are rustic, not fancy or modern but everything is clean and works. These are the sorts of cottages you wished your family still owned and had passed down to you. We always look forward to our time here.

“A wonderful place to stay!”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2012

To me, Daffodil Cove Cottage is one of the most beautiful places on Salt Spring Island. The cottage is right beside a beautiful area that overlooks the ocean. There are almost no people around you, so you have lots of privacy. Every morning when you wake up, you can hear the wonderful sound of birds singing and the waves of the ocean crashing gently against the beach. There is tons of wildlife living around the area, including deer, birds, squirrels, garter snakes, and several varieties of insects. Sometimes when you to up to the rocky beach beside the ocean, you can spot seals, dolphins, and killer whales swimming in the ocean! Daffodil Cove Cottage is a very wonderful place to stay. “A great weekend on a beautiful property”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2012

This was much more than I expected. The property is absolutely perfect, and waking up in the morning to an ocean view was amazing. Such a peaceful and private cabin. Probably the best location on the island. I can't say anything bad about the cottage other than I was very sad leaving it and going back to my own home, haha. I wish I lived there!!!
