“Romantic escape”

Reviewed 6 Apr 2013

A nightashore is situated just above the beautiful Princess Margaret beach. Without doubt the best beach on the island. The views across the bay are stunning and the accommodation itself is of the most luxurious standard. Nothing is of too much trouble to Monica. She filled the fridge with ample delicious provisions for breakfast for very little cost, arranged taxis and even went to the trouble of booking a meal for us at her favourite restaurant . There is a lovely small pool for guests use on the main terrace. This too has a wonderful panoramic view. Even so,even paradise has its down side as mosquitoes were a bit of a nuisance some evenings!

Response from the owner Thank you for your comments. We do have a very special location at one of the world's most beautiful beaches...and yes, even the mosquitos want to be here by the warm sea in our hot climate. However they are less proliferous than many other locations on Bequia.

“A small paradise getaway”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2012

Very convenient to Port Elizabeth and to Jack's Bar for food and drink. Accommodation tasteful, clean and well equiped. Just a short walk to Princess Margaret beach, the best in Bequia, for a glorious morning swim followed by a light breakfast overlooking the bay. Excellent.

“little piece of paradise”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2012

Though Bequia is a tiny island (about 6 sq miles), it is lively in the season and there are a lot of sailors about. The view over Princess Margaret Bay from the room and the pool area is stunning, and the beach is just below the house. The Port is around the corner with a short water taxi ride (or swim...). The room is very well presented, with aC and fans and a neat outdoor shower. The only minus is the steep lane up to the main road leading down into the port, which is why I preferred to take the water taxi.

“Elegant contemporary comfort in an authentic quiet Caribbean set”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2012

A Shade of Blues "A Shade of Blues” is poetry in the form of a beautiful villa built into the side of a hill overlooking a Caribbean Bay on the west side of Bequia. Its well thought out contemporary design makes it elegant and comfortable - fitted out with all you could desire. There was even a beautiful handmade quilt on our bed. Open, airy decks offer spectacular views of colorful local fishing boats, square-rigged sailing vessels, and gleaming yachts making way in the waters of admiralty Bay. Surprising architectural and design details abound, such as the cantilevered outdoor showers, native rock staircase, lights embedded in the dancing deck, and the infinity pool. Didi and I stayed at a Shade of Blues in 2010 & 11 and our memories are filled with vivid images of palm fringed beaches, scenic mountains, and friendly locals. Our days began with French-press coffee and breakfast on the balcony listening to the birds and watching the bay. Getting around was easy. Princess Margaret Beach and Jack's Bar are a short walk down the hill. Getting to the shops and restaurants along Belmont Walk in Port Elizabeth was easy using Julian's Taxi or a water taxi. We got to meet some of the locals when we used the dollar taxi. One of our favorite walks was along a path carved in the rock that took us over to Lower Bay, a quiet palm lined beach. After a day of snorkeling , sailing, diving or sightseeing, we enjoyed relaxing in the infinity pool while taking in the sunset. This is the place you want to stay. “What a lovely holiday! Unexpected perfection! The hostess Monica”

Reviewed 6 Jul 2012

We did not expect very much of renting a room in a pretty blue villa on Bequia. We usually stay in more upscale accommodations, but after doing some research, I thought of anightashore as a perfect spot to experience an island's beauty and life without being in the middle of the "action". Surprisingly, the room was just lovely! Contemporary-island design, balcony roomy enough to enjoy a breakfast with the stunning view of the harbor. One of our favorite features was the attached, a very private outdoor shower. Monica is one lovely lady, always there to assist and recommend. I was quite sick for few days- caught a bad cold. She was happy to gift me with fresh market fruits and other goodies. Our room had an access to a kitchenette located few steps away on the pool terrace level that was equipped with a fridge, sink, coffee maker, toaster and dishes we prepared our breakfast and ocassional lunch. There is a nice restaurant right bellow the villa - on the beach. The conveniently located restaurant dock is very handy for water taxi to pick you up to get you to the town for a dinner and other excursions. The highlights: nice, contemporary- yet islandish decor, caring proprietor, perfect position- close to the beach, nice restaurant and water taxi dock, a stunning sunset views, privacy, quiet- yet coonvenient location, and a great value. One should be aware of the steep steps leading down to the restaurant and to the beach. Possibly not an ideal situation for those with a knee problem. There is also a full 2 BR apartment located on a higher floor, that is equipped with a full kitchen. We new we wanted to explore the island and would not eat dinners in, therefore we have rented the room only. My husband must have liked the experience a lot, because he asked me yesterday, if we should reserve the room for the next year soon. Something to be said about that.
