“Great B”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2013

We were at Three Pines for 3 nights and wish we had stayed a week. So relaxing and fun. Karen is a wonderful host. She will help you with directions and answer any questions you might have. each morning we started with a great breakfast on the deck. The view is breath taking. Ms. Magoo (pug) was so sweet. we enjoyed all the animals and the evening trips to the barn with Karen and her special animals.

“Sublime”

We recently stayed at Three Pines B&B; for the second time, and both experiences were top notch. The rooms are comfortable, with wonderful views of the water. And the breakfasts are second to none. We will be back.

“Simply perfect”

Reviewed 29 Nov 2012

My husband and I have spent years discovering the joy of B and B'ing. It has become a favorite way to see the communities where we visit. As of late my job has kept me away from our house on over-nites and I have made a choice to stay in B&B;'s whenever I can. I feel safer, I get to meet interesting people from all over the world and the food is usually much better than a local restaurant. My recent stay at Three Pines was wonderful. The room was exceptionally clean and homey. The view of the bay second to none. Karen's breakfast was well balanced and delicious...and the coffee superb! I didn't want to leave...and I can't wait to go back. If you are considering a B&B; in the Ellsworth/Bar Harbor area - look no farther. It is simply prefect!

“Beautiful area, wonderful accomodations and the best food!”

Three Pines is such a wonderful, eco- and animal friendly place to stay! Advertised as vegetarian, the hostess was more than willing to accomodate our vegan needs with homemade (and delicious) vegan breakfasts! All vegetarian who are visiting Maine should make this a must-stay destination.

“Our stay left us feeling not only rejuvenated, but inspired.”

While trying to decide among our many options in the area of acadia National Park, we were fortunate enough to stumble upon a listing for this gem. The prospect of staying on an off-the-grid, eco-friendly farm was at once exciting and concerning. While we were excited at the prospect of staying someplace sustainable (and affordable to boot!), we were initially nervous about some of the modern amenities, however those concerns turned out to be totally unfounded. First and foremost, the service was absolutely out of this world. Karen was incredibly friendly, unbelievably helpful (especially in terms of navigating to acadia and suggesting places to go), and went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable. My partner is a very enthusiastic fiber-artist, and was absolutely thrilled when Karen introduced us to her herd of 20+ sheep (and Spot the Llama)! Our two Breakfasts were absolutely outstanding and included what have to be the best pancakes I've ever had. You certainly won't be "roughing it" in either of the two rooms. The hot water is plenty hot (and available almost immediately), the beds are exceptionally comfortable, and if it gets cold, the propane heaters are more than adequate to keep you comfortable. I had to take a star off due to the fact that I am a fairly light sleeper and was woken up several times on account of our less-than-considerate upstairs neighbors (other guests). There isn't much sound insulation between the two units, so I'd recommend bringing ear plugs or some source of white-noise if you're a light sleeper (or just make sure to rent the upper floor). The location is absolutely stunning as well, and I took many pictures of our beautiful sunrises over the water. Nevertheless, if you visit after tourist season (mid-October or so), you may find a lot of closed businesses, and there are closer B&Bs;/Hotels/Motels to acadia, so it isn't exactly ideal. Overall this is a one-of-a-kind B&B; that needs to be seen to be believed!

“Lovely Bed and Breakfast”

Reviewed 26 Oct 2012

Three Pines B and B is one of the loveliest B&B;'s my husband and I have ever stayed. Our visit was for one night only but very nice. The accomodations were great. The lovely hostess, Karen Curtis, greeted us at the door and showed us our spacious guest room and private bath filled with books, Cd's, magazines for our reading pleasure. The room overlooked Sullivan Bay, a tranquil sight. Breakfast was served in the main house, a few steps away. Karen's breakfast was delicious. Her cranberry bread receives a plus. The location is just off highway 1, a good spot for requenting Bar Harbor, Acadia, Schoodic Point but out of the rush of other tourists. My husband and I would definitely recommend Three Pines to anyone visitng and staying in this region.

“Quiet Paradise in Busy Coastal Maine”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2012

Don't let the sheep and off-the-grid living scare you away! We chose this place because it looked interesting and unique and loved every minute of it! The location is quiet, right on the water and not too far off the main road. Karen was welcoming and charming, and we had fun meeting their cats and dog and chickens (who laid the best-tasting eggs!). The rooms are private, good size, each with a beautiful sunrise view of the water. If we ever get back to Maine, we'll make it a point to stay here again. It's one of those places that warms your heart!

“A B&B; stay with much more to offer”

The Stay at Three Pines was much more then we expected from a B&B.; It gave us a well located home base for visiting Bar Harbor, Acadia NP and local places of interest taking advantage of directions and maps from Karen. The organic breakfast served outdoors was a great experience with the beautiful grounds and views of the cove. What really impressed us the total experience with the owners, facilitiies, farm, animals, location, and especically Karen and her pug Miss Magoo. A truly memorable stay in the beautiful state of Maine.
