Description

Pearl River Cottage is a special place to stay. We specialise in making sure our guests have great holiday experiences. We’ve given much thought as to what we can offer guests as we know that slipping into our holidays is always much needed. It is a a peaceful and tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The cottage is close to beaches, Salcombe and Dartmouth. Ideal for couples and small families (sleeps 4).

To the rear of the cottage there is a private lawn garden complete with garden furniture and barbecue facilities providing a relaxed setting for dining al-fresco or simply unwinding in the tranquil surroundings.

We welcome pets and charge a fee of £25 per pet per stay.

Response from the owner Chris, Thanks for your comments, all taken on board. We are indeed extending the property this Winter to include a new kitchen at the rear and direct access into the lovely garden. We are sorry that you did not receive a welcome pack, this has never happened before to any of our guests and was an oversight on our part. We are at the end of the season and maintenance will be completed by the end of December 2016 to ensure that the property is ready to welcome our guests in 2017. Not only will we be extending the property there will also be new flooring and new mattresses in the bunk bedroom. With regards to parking, there is always space directly outside the cottage and yes, the roads are narrow but that is part and parcel of the Devon countryside! Thanks again and we look forward to welcoming you back once the renovations are complete.

“Wonderful Devon stay in bijou character cottage”

We stayed at Pearl River Cottage for a week in early June and had a wonderful time, not least because we were graced with great weather. The cottage is located on a small residential road in West Alvington, away from the main A381 through the village. Parking is available on street opposite the property, but we chose to park at the end of the road where there is a larger parking area and turning circle. The key is stored in a little combination lock box by the front door. Inside, the cottage was immaculately clean with everything necessary for a week's stay - utensils, basic store cupboard items, games, books etc etc. Bedding and towels are provided but we took our own beach towels for the seaside. A lovely touch is a welcome basket including bread, jam, cake, milk, butter, orange juice and a local paper. Downstairs is just one room with the kitchen and lounge being open plan. The small dining table is by the front window. There is a sofa and separate armchair The garden is accessed via a communal path and a couple of steps shared with the neighbouring property (including a vocal spaniel!). We did have to dodge some "little deposits" left by the neighbours dog a few times. The garden itself has substantial fencing for privacy and is mostly grassed with a gravel seating area including barbecue. We breakfasted in the garden most mornings, and had two lovely barbecues. Charcoal is provided but as we used quite a bit we bought another bag for the next holidaymakers. Upstairs there are three rooms off the small landing area. The double bedroom is a lovely light room at the front of the house. The bathroom is narrow with a shower cubicle at the end. At the back is the small second bedroom with bunk beds but we just used this to store our clothes and suitcases in. Given the limited space I do think the cottage is most suited to a couple or perhaps a couple with one young child as it would be quite a squeeze with any more than that. We found the dining table small and with only two chairs it is difficult to realistically see how you could fit four people round it!

How do damage deposits work?
