“Bathroom Full of Mold and No Free Parking Anywhere Near the Apartment”
My husband and I chose to rent this listing because it included parking. The owner assured me several times (in the actual listing, verbally, and by email) that there was free parking available only a 10 minute walk away from the apartment and gave me the name of the lot and directions to it. We drove to the lot and found that it was a minimum 45 minute walk from the apartment. We were also warned by several Tel Aviv locals that this lot is not very safe. Cars are often broken into, there is no lighting at night, and it's often full on the weekends. I was told that I should not park alone at this lot, especially at night. We also had an issue with water damage and mold in the bathroom of the apartment. It smelled terrible (in addition to being gross). I contacted the owner about the parking and bathroom issues. My goal in contacting her was to find a solution we could both be happy with. She told me she would remedy the situation by having someone come over and inspect our bathroom for damage and have it cleaned. She also offered to secure a parking pass for us at a garage that was 10 minutes away for $250. I agreed to both of her solutions. The owner's came to the apartment to deliver the parking pass. He showed my husband that he had a working key to the apartment. My husband gave him permission to enter it even if we weren't home to deal with the bathroom situation. My sister was getting married that same week in Jerusalem so we knew we wouldn't be available to let in cleaning people and didn't want to schedule our vacation time around the fixing of these issues. When my husband went to retrieve our car from the garage the owner had gotten us a parking pass to, the parking pass did not work. My husband had to pay to get the car out. The owner had given us a nonworking parking pass so we had to pay each time we parked. I decided to wait to contact the owner after I returned from my sister's wedding regarding the parking . I initially told the owner I would pay her through paypal because I didn't trust her with cash. She had already lied about the listing having free parking near by in her listing and I wanted a recorded payment. We returned from Jerusalem days later to discover that the mold situation in our bathroom had not been taken care of and that the owner had come and left a note at our door. The next day she returned and left a second note. She came everyday to harass us for payment. I told her that the parking ticket didn't work and that I had only agreed to pay for a working parking ticket. I also told her that we had been forced to live with a moldy and water damaged bathroom that smelled for the whole trip and that I had pictures of it. She threatened to go to other vacation rental websites and warn them about me if I posted a negative review. She also said she was contacting Flip Key to hold my deposit (an issue I am still dealing with). For the remainder of our trip the owner continued to send harassing emails. I've only had positive experiences renting through AirBNB on previous trips, but my Flip Key experience was awful. The owner didn't understand that it was unacceptable to lie in the rental listing about parking, then offer to sell us a parking pass that didn't work and collect payment on it. I have charges on my credit card showing that we paid for parking the whole time we stayed in the apartment. If the pass had worked we would not have paid for parking each time. The owner had no problem showing up at the apartment to harass us for money for the parking pass, but couldn't be bothered to check in on the mold situation in the bathroom or be there when we checked out. I looked at the owner's reviews before renting. They are positive for the most part. My guess is that we are the first renters who actually had a car and called her on her bluff. Or perhaps she has threatened previous renters so they don't post negative reviews like she tried to do with us. I'm upset that somebody like this is allowed to use FlipKey to list her property. She also claims that a private beach is available in her listing. There are no private beaches in Tel Aviv and the beach is about 2 blocks away. I had to ask the owner to stop e-mailing me because she continued to send me harassing messages even after we checked out. I am posting the photographs I took of the bathroom. The wall surrounding the ventilator fan (which was covered in dust) shows water damage/mold. The other images show the level of mold and filth present in the bathroom. Cleaning supplies were also left out and in the way during our trip (it was a tiny bathroom). There was also dirt on the inside bathroom door frame.
“My Israeli home”
It is the apartment where I keep coming back, the country where I keep coming back, and the people who make it so special for me. Clean stylish warm apartment has everything you need when it comes to comfort, needless to number, when you come, you see it yourself-the apartment has everything you are so used to have at home. Wonderful location! What makes it even more special is the owner. Very considerate, attentive, helpful. I can promise you won't feel like a stranger. My stay in this apartment consists of pluses, for many reasons. I believe, when you come, you will find your own pluses. I am coming back here again, like the first stay,so are the many ones to come! Enjoy!
“Great apartment in Best location”
I stayed in this apartment with my wife and 2 kids for 10 days and absolutely loved it. The owners could not have been more obliging and accommodating. I would recommend it and would also stay there again given the opportunity. Its a nice stroll to Beach and on the way stop for a coffe cnr Ben Yehudah and Ben Gurion...great! Also walk to Dizengoff or the Port or just about anywhere. Great high speed internet and just a cool place to stay!! Thanks!!
Response from the owner Thank you very much
“Perfect location, clean, spacious. A+ overall”
Perfect location nearby great restaurants, on the route for the sharoot, and only 10 min to the beach. We stayed for 3 nights and couldn't have been happier. Much better value vs. a hotel. Clean and modern apartment, with full kitchen (but no need to use it, too many good reataurants in TLV). Make sure to goto the sandwhich/coffee shop across the street.
My wife and I, along with our two kids, recently completed a 12-day stay at Irit's apartment on Ben Yehuda St. in Tel aviv. We had a very good time. The 1-bedroom apartment was clean and well-equipped with modern appliances. A/C (a must in the summer in Tel aviv) worked very well in both the bedroom and living room. Wifi was excellent. The location is great. The beach is a block away. It's a 5-7 minute walk to the port ("namal"). Many other places within walking distance. Within a block there are many restaurants and markets, including at least 2 good cafes/restaurants and one market that are open 24 hours a day. The place does not have parking and finding a parking spot in the area is very difficult. However, Irit and her brother ariel arranged for me to park at a parking lot (for a fee) which was about a 5-7 minute walk from the apartment. I was able to exit and enter the parking lot any time I pleased. It worked out well. The apartment is not big. The bedroom is a decent size and easily sleeps two (in one bed). The living room is small. My wife and I slept on the pullout couch in the living room. It worked fine, but it was somewhat cramped. The place is probably ideal for a couple or single person, though it can accommodate another one or two. Though we did not need much, Irit and ariel were very helpful and responsive. I highly recommend Irit's apartment.
Response from the owner thanks
“Perfect place to stay when visiting Tel-Aviv!”
The apartment is very comfortable, and the owner, Irit, was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. The location is ideal, close to everything. Highly recommended!!
