“Heaven on Earth”
Senani was one of our most wonderful vacations in recent times. This was our first private villa holiday. After a little anxiety and hesitation we were pleasantly surprised when we reached there. We were greeted by Marcus the Manager of the property. We were completely lost for next 2 days by the super pampering of Marcus and Prema who is one of the best cooks in entire Sri Lanka. The food she was prepared for us was authentic Sri Lankan cuisine ending with Sri Lankan dessert of Curd and Honey on one day and Wattalappan on second day. Our evenings were great with reasonable cold weather outside and nice warm fireplace in the main hall. Life in Mumbai where I belong to is just too hectic and a break like this adds a lot of energy. Even today when I ask my group what do they remember about our Sri Lanka holiday, its Senani, Marcus and Prema ....
“It is a wonderful experience”
“A delightful stay in an incredibly beautiful colonial home”
My daughters and I had a truly wonderful stay in this beautiful home on the hillside overlooking the town below. We were wrapped in the history of the house which is evident and so wonderfully preserved throughout. Sitting around a glowing fire in the evening ones thoughts roam to times gone buy. The rooms are beautiful and the staff so very attentive while at the same time able to make us feel so at home and welcome to roam every corner of this lovely home. Prema's cooking was fantastic! We felt so very spoilt. As we continue our travels we know this will be hard to match. S, J and Z (Canada)
Response from the owner Dear Sue and daughters, thank you very much for your review. We are happy to read that you enjoyed your 2 days stay at our Bungalow. You are not the only one who admires Prema's cooking skills and the magic dishes she conjures in her kitchen. Wishing you a safe trip to Canada. Hoping you will come again one day. Greetings from the Senani Team.
“Classic refuge and excellent food”
The Senani Bungalow is a classic hillside house with beautiful gardens, a delightful view across the valley and comfortable bedrooms. When the evenings became chilly, we spent very amiable time by the fireplace sharing a bottle of wine. The best part of our stay was the fantastic meals that the house cook provided us. There was always a lot of food and it was incredibly delicious each time. Many of the ingredients came from the gardens. Senani is a wonderful and large part of our Nuwara Eliya memories.
“An Excellent Stay in Nuwara Eliya”
We stayed at Senani Bungalow at the end of March for one night with friends and rented the entire bungalow. The bungalow is immaculate and the meals that were prepared were second to none! Everything was as advertised and promised which is not easy to come by in Sri Lanka! My only regret is that we didn't have 3 or 4 more nights here.
“Excellent place to experience a holiday in colonial style”
I booked this bungalow because a friend of mine has recommended it, trusting him that the place is nice. But what I expierenced during my 3 days stay was far beyond...This bungalow and the team who is running it made my stay unforgetable. The food little Prema, the cook is serving is by far the best food I came across during my entire holiday. The colonial ambient, the cozy evenings beside the fireplace, the huge garden with its rose garden terrace, all together is difficult to describe unless you expierence it yourself. After 3 dayss at Senani I was sad to leave this very special place, a home away from home. This place is very good value for your money. Thanking all of the Senani team once more for making my stay really unforgetable. Klaus from Germany
My family and I stayed at Senani Bungalow for three nights over new year. Staying there was like staying with friends as we were lucky enough to have Wolfgang, the owner with us for a time. Marcus, the manager, is friendly and extremely insightful regarding the needs of his guests. The food, a very important part of any stay, was a highlight of the visit, our favourites were the vegetable soup and the fish. Thank you Prima! It was a treat to have such an expansive and quiet place to retreat to in the hustle and bustle of Sri Lanka . Importantly all the essentials that we now require on holiday are available at Senanii, satellite tv, wi fi, hot water. Thanks for a relaxing and welcoming stay.
“A perfect vacation”
we had a perfect vacation in Senani Bungalow: the retro decorated and furnished bungalow is very neat, artistic and comfortable; the food, Sri Lankan or Western, are delicious, especially the vegetables and flowers are from their own organic garden in front of the house; the warmest is the staffs warm-hearted service that made us feel like stay in our family. Indeed, Senani Bungalow is not only a house but the home for its guests.
We had a wonderful stay at the Senani Bungalow. The entire staff was exceptional and met our every need. Prema's cooking is unquestionably some of the best food I've had in Sri Lanka...I miss her!!! The bungalow is in perfect condition and extremely comfortable. We all enjoyed having a drink by the fireplace after a day of hiking. Thanks for making our trip to Nuwara Eliya a memorable experience!
“Stay in Dec 2013”
This was really a pleasant surprise. Whatever we understood from the web site, through emails and phone calls were all in place just matching everything, when we arrived. This is a great place to stay and enjoy our vacation. The place is so beautiful and clean. This was the right choice instead of any hotels. The service from the whole team was excellent, all the way from the manager, Prema aunty & family. The manager is so professional, friendly and informative. A great team, I must say. I must really mention about Prema aunty's food. That was fabulous and great. She could match our taste buds. Every single thing was taken care by the manager in the excellent way that we wanted. My children had enjoyed every moment of their stay. The manager promised there will be room heaters when we visit in Dec 2013. True to his commitment, there were brand new room heaters installed. Overall, this is a great and memorable place and hence our stay too. Without any hesitation, I would strongly recommend this place.
Response from the owner Dear Jayakumar, Many thanks for your kind review. We are very pleased to read that your family and you had a great time at SENANI. Hopefully you will find some time to visit us again. Since you´ve left we have been working a lot to improve the garden and created a small lawn for golfers to practise. Wishing you all the best.
