“Fantastic”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2014

Stayed at the cottage and had a wonderful time. Cute place, clean and well stocked with everything you need from the kitchen to the beach. Only a few steps to the beach. This was a great location to get away for a relaxing vacation. The owner was very accommodating when I had to change my planned stay dates. She went above and beyond working to accommodate me. Highly recommend this place and this owner.

“Great Location, Not So Great apartment”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2014

This place is full of paradoxes. Location is amazing, right on the beach (and a great beach it is). But it is also located on a busy street and the traffic at night was loud in the bedroom, partially because the windows are old not full closed. The bedroom and bed were warm and cozy, but the "futon" couch was horribly uncomfortable to sleep on and to sit on. Seriously, beware to anyone planning on sleeping on it. The porch was a delight and the patio furniture comfortable, new, nice. The inside furniture was fine, but on the whole the place is outdated and in need of sprucing up. Everything was servicable but in no way nice. The place was wonderfully clean. Lisa, the amazing caretaker, worked hard to make sure that every nook and cranny was clean and ready for us. Her attention to detail was remarkable. However, there were other attentions that were left unsaid. For example, there was a wifi modem but not password provided. Booking the place was easy and quick. Karen responded right away with availability and answers to a few questions. After this she did not reply to multiple emails I sent. Particularly frustrating was that she did not provide any information for how to check in, and once we had figured that out on our own, she was in touch to tell us that the place had been double booked and she wanted us to do some moving around to other rental units. A frustrating way to start our vacation. Despite the poor communication, Karen was very kind and welcoming, but better communication would have made our stay better. Overall my mother reports that she would not stay here again. I think I would because most of my time was spent on the beach and on the porch. This is very much a basic accommodation.

“Amazing and Perfect!!”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2014

We could not have asked for a better cottage for our honeymoon stay on Oahu. The location is perfect - right on the beach so the waves lull you to sleep and you can walk right outside in the morning to watch the sunrise. The location on the island is also ideal as a midpoint between towns on the far north shore to accessing Pearl Harbor and Wakiki Beach. Karen is extremely attentitive to details within the cottage for any amenity you may need. She was also very responsive as we prepared for our arrival. For a quiet, beach front getaway, this is your place to stay!

Response from the owner Wow, thanks for the comments. I wish I had more time to stay there myself. I met my finance at the cottage --its so romantic--and I'm thinking of getting married on the beach in front of the cottage later this year!

“No contact at all”

Reviewed 12 Dec 2013

I haven't been there yet but hope it will happened in February next year. I've booked the cottage in June and paid the deposit. I want to pay the rest of the outstanding amount now but there is a problem. I can not contact the owner. I try the e-mail (numerous times), try this website (Flipkey) to contact the owner, try to phone and...nothing. I hope it is not a scam and I still have booked place for may Hawaii vacation, especially that it shows available for the time I've booked. Hopefully soon I will be able to write positive review after the owner will contact me.

“Wonderful location happy guests!”

This is a wonderful little cottage close to the beach. We enjoyed our stay there. Unlike Honolulu it is very quiet and not a tourist trap. The cottage was very homelike and had everything we needed to be comfortable. It was not fancy but it was clean and the owner and her daughter were very friendly when dealing with us. It has a lovily patio close to the BBQ so we were able to make dinners and chat with other guests of the hotel but not have to walk through the hotel to get to the beach. The best thing about cottage was the fact that it was about 50 feet from a beautiful queit beach. We were able to snokel and one evening we sat on the and watched the whales in the ocean. There is a reef so there arn't alot of waves and the beach was great for small children to play on. You would need a car if stayed at this place as it is a distance from other ammenties. We loved it and have told our friends about this wonderful little dreamy breach colttage.

“my favorite place on oahu”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2012

Over the years I've thoroughly enjoyed this place as a peaceful retreat to beat the buzz of the city. lots of beachy character, Waking to the sound of waves lapping on the shoreline, I get into a swimsuit right out of bed and walk 20 feet for a morning ocean dip, I see turtles every time. great stargazing. it has a way of clearing my mind whenever i arrive. small and cozy, yet light and airy. Having bad allergies, I appreciate the cleanliness, personal washer/dryer, hot water, soft sheets, abundant large beach towels. Lots of light, comfy furniture, tv, ipod/cd player/radio, kitchenware, 4 burner gas range, microwave. beach gear, lounge chairs, 2min. walk to 2 minimarts, 5min drive to supermarket and eateries. incredibly quiet, but I also enjoyed having a dinner party on the porch with a few friends. It feels open and easy, yet secure. its a very low crime area. the beach is private property and often its just me lounging, with the occasional jogger or swimmer passing by. the beach its a long reef shelf, so the waves are breaking far away, very safe to swim with kids since its so shallow and sandy with no waves closeby. Near, there are lots of hiking trails, beaches, famous north shore with its scenic winter surf and haleiwa beach town, golf courses, horse back riding, mac nut farms, polynesian cultural center, shrimp trucks, and the city is only about 45 minutes away. The bus stop is adjacent to the complex, and will take you either direction. Being ground level and able to park right next to the porch, makes this extremely accomodating for elderly or disabled. the reserved parking stall borders the porch, a BBQ is 30ft away. secure internet, cell reception, close to food and gas, yet far from traffic and distractions, really makes for a great experience. I stayed anywhere from 2-30 days dozens of times. you can't find a more enjoyable place to stay at such a great price. I hate leaving! usually booked pretty far in advance. Dreamy is right!

Response from the owner Thank you for your lovely review, and pointing out many things that I did not mention in my listing. My daughter is also named Heidi! I named her after the book with the same name. She is the main reason I bought this cottage 22+ years ago when she was a young girl and loved playing at the beach. Im glad you enjoy it so much!
