Description from owner

Description

Enjoy a relaxing holiday in a cabin in the woods in mid-Wales. Our two self-catering cabins are located in lovely Welsh countryside, near the market town of Newtown, overlooking the River Severn.

Our two cabins are on their own and set in 10 acres of private mature woodland full of wildlife and flowers (bluebells in the woods in spring). One guest described it as "like a treehouse for adults". And there is access to free fishing on the River Severn included.

The cabins are also on the Montgomeryshire Canal, and the towpath is now a popular cycle route as well as being part of the Severn Way. It is only a 10 minute walk to the local nature reserve or just over half an hour into town, without needing to go on a road. Or why not take a picnic and walk to Dolforwyn Castle - a romantic ruin with views up and down the valley.

This is an excellent base for walking, cycling and fishing holidays. Ideal for families looking for a good value break. There is lots to do in the local area, including visiting Powis castle, Lake Vyrnwy (RSPB) and Montgomeryshire Nature Reserves or walk to the local castle. Pets welcome.

Each cabin sleeps a maximum of 4 people. We have two cabins, so if the dates you are looking for are marked unavailable do contact us as the other cabin may be available. Larger groups or two families might want to consider booking both cabins and have the whole place to themselves.

Cabin very good and comfortable loads of condiments. The only down side was the Cabins position to the river quite a trek with fishing gear not as acceptable as we thought

Can't fault the cabin - well equipped, cosy and comfortable - or the location. Dog loved the solitude and freedom, we'd happily go back .

“A magical experience in the woods!”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2021

If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life then this cabin is for you. Hidden away in the woods with views across the River Severn it is a haven of peace. Watch the fun antics of the squirrels, birds and even mice as they vie for nuts and seeds dropped from the bird feeder. There is private access to a perfect place for fishing (fishing licences available from the Post Office in Newtown). Julie the owner has provided a comprehensive list of places to eat in Newtown and details of local walks, one of which goes right past the cabin. Apart from relaxing, fishing and painting we spent our time hiking in the surrounding hills and woods. Walking boots and poles are a must!
