Had a great time. The owners of the farm are warm and thoughtful people. Clean, beautiful farm setting and well equipped home . The only thing that would've made it more perfect would be air conditioning. It did cool down nicely at night but I have asthma and it was a little humid. Loved staying here would do it again
“Quaint cottage in the peaceful outdoors”
My friends and I desperately wanted a weekend away from the grey of New York City and could not have chosen a more perfect place. Barbara was incredibly helpful, as was the manager Scott. Lovely home, spacious despite looking quite small, beautiful kitchen with the most adorable old oven, lots of places to sit, eat and relax. Friends could not stop raving about the beds and nice hot showers. Surrounded by farmland and rolling hills. Very close to most ski resorts via easy routes, lots of small townships along the way. The town of Hobart has great bookstores and a delightful diner/café where the owner breeds cocker spaniels and let's you cuddle them!
“Peaceful, quiet, and restful”
My elderly mother, my husband, and I spent a very enjoyable week at the farmhouse and had a very restful vacation. The house is every bit as lovely as it appears in the pictures, perhaps even more spacious than expected, the beds were super comfortable, and the surroundings are bucolic and serene. The pleasant couple that manages the rental house gave us a dozen eggs for our stay, instructed us on the use of the old wood-burning stove in the kitchen, and gave us privacy. The weather was not very good while we were there in late October, but we still enjoyed walks behind the house on the Catskill Scenic Trail and enjoyed seeing the neighboring farms with their cows. My mother celebrated her 88th birthday at the farmhouse. She had lived several years of her life on a farm down south in her youth, and we wanted to recapture some memories for her. Unfortunately, due to the cold weather we were not able to see the chickens on the farm next door and there were no cows in the meadow across the road. However, farms are plentiful in Hobart and nearby Bovina. She had a wonderful time! It turned out that the 87 year old wood-burning stove was very similar to the one that she remembered from her youth on the farm!
“A thoroughly relaxing time in picturesque surroundings, in a cos”
This was by far the best rental experience we had in our five week trip to the us. Barb replied promptly to my enquiries, and was extremely helpful and friendly. I wasn't sure what to expect, given the extremely good price for the vacation rental, but we were very pleasantly surprised to find a charming, clean and spacious cottage, with delightful, kind and helpful hosts, Scott and Eleanor. There was plenty of space for the kids to run around, chickens to visit, and excellent access to the Catskill scenic trail and to nearby rivers for fishing. We found enough to do in the area, but most of all enjoyed our time hanging out in/outside the cottage, playing boardgames and enjoying family time. Scott and Eleanor kindly took photos for us and presented us with a small memento before we left. A very memorable stay.
We enjoyed our stay and found the house to be well stocked, clean and quiet. We baked a wedding cake, ten pies and several dozen rolls in the well equipped kitchen. The owners pay attention to details and it is obvious that they want your stay to be perfect and it was!
“Great outdoor getaway for a bunch of city kids”
Myself and 5 others friends spent 4 days here in June. It was a great experience and we loved our time there. We are all city kids who ranged from the Bronx to Manhattan to Brooklyn and the change of scenery was great. We barbecued almost everyday and got a chance to see some stars. We went on hiking trails and just explored the town. Scott and Eleanor were very sweet and helpful and the house is gorgeous. It is very charming and cozy and very clean. It has everything you need. It took about 3 1/2 hours to get there from the city but the drive up there was beautiful on its own. It was nice to have breakfast and see cows right outside the window. We all loved our stay here and would definitely stay here again.
“We had a really great time!”
First thing I want to say is, the house is sooo cute from the outside! My husband and I went here together with some friends from the Philippines and we loved the place! We met Scott who was the attendant at the time and was well accommodating. I loved how the house is cool and cozy. We went here on a rainy day, unfortunately, but the feel is not too cold, so we're thankful for that. They have spare blankets and robes when it's a bit chilly. We cooked and I love how the kitchen has everything! Whatever kitchen tools you may need, they have. We also used the grill, which is a plus. The best part was we got to make a bonfire, considering the weather. It was a really nice way to spend your day with family and great friends just chilling (and eating!) all day. It was too bad we were only there for a short time. But I definitely, absolutely would love to go back and spend a little more time there, just away from it all, no stress attached.
“Home from home!”
Just enjoyed a wonderful few days over spring break. Cottage was really well kitted out, cosy and warm. And in the most beautiful location. Kids had a fab time running wild, building forts and feeding the hens. We hiked, went riding at BrokenSpoke stables (a big hit!), roller skating at Oneonta, lots of great diners locally. A big thanks to Scott, Eleanor and family next door for their hospitality and for entertaining the kids! The freshly laid eggs were a real treat. It was our first trip to the Catskills and we will definitely come back to the cottage.
It was a very good decision to rent the Rich Farm`s lodge. It`s very well and tastefully equipped. The lodge shows a remarkable symbiosis of historic architecture and modern comfort... a very nice place to spend your holidays!
“The ideal vacation house/place any season of the year!”
We weren't disappointed when we stayed in the farmhouse because of the overall experience we had. The Jensens are very helpful - they provided every information we need and gave us the freedom to enjoy the house and it's surroundings. Love everything about the house because it has everything we need and more. Our dog absolutely adore the hill behind the house. We enjoyed the bonfire we had each night there. The fall foliage on the surroundings mountains were amazing and the tree beside the house has such fabulous brilliant yellow-orange leaves during this season! One thing that we missed doing was bike on the trail - we hope to come back probably in the spring to do that!
