Description from owner

Wander out into the woodlands and onto the river bluff to the six-person hot tub on a winding, custom-built deck. You're close enough to listen to the river as you marvel at the stars and soak away all your cares.....ahhhhh! You are going to love being nestled in the woodlands right outside the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. In fact, you can hike just a few yards down your private-dead end road and step across the Great Smokey Mountain National Park boundary line! 'Genesis' is one of the very closest cabins to historic Cades Cove! The screened-in porch includes a gas grill and table for outdoor dining, and the laundry room boasts Maytag appliances! Oh, and there is a Keurig in the kitchen so bring your fav K-Cups!

There is a uniqueness to 'Genesis'. This beauty, completed in 2000, is a three story, authentic log cabin chalet, with over 2000 square feet, overlooking the river and waiting to pamper you. Enter and your attention is immediately drawn to the high cathedral ceilings, allowing you to enjoy the warm woodlands outside the two stories of windows. Spacious seating arrangements are here, and all of the Broyhill seats will recline for your comfort! Here you will enjoy a 50" big screen TV with cable, X-Box/DVD, an Englander wood stove, champagne-colored ceramic tile, ceiling fans, and the conversation piece is the hand-hewn staircase cut from locally fallen timbers.

And 'Genesis' is pet friendly. I would like to know a bit about your furry little friend so call me.

On the main level is a comfy king bed, the upper level has a queen and a futon in each of the two bedrooms and a bunk in the loft with a full on bottom and a twin on top. The lower level 'game room' has a futon with a full on bottom and twin on top. Beings there is a bath on this level two, we call it a bedroom with a game room. There are three bathroom in all, two showers/one tub.

I just want to mention that we are at the very end of Townsend, right before the Park entrance. Again, best location in Townsend! Every great now and then there is a possibility of loosing an internet signal, and cell service here is rare (unless you're blessed with USCellular), as they allow no cell towers in our magnificent Park (thank the good Lord!). They just wouldn't fit into the nature setting. I have no problem with either when I am at the cabin, I've found the best place to pull up the wi-fi is at the kitchen table however. Just a bit of FYI.

Note: seven of our unique cabins .. 'Bearfoot Lodge', 'Genesis', 'Refuge', 'Manna', 'Bearfoot 2', 'Evergreen' and 'BearyTale' all sit on the same lovely one-lane road nestled in the woods, some with River ambience! They are within walking distance to one another as well as the National Park boundary line. Together, they will accommodate 48 folks! Book one or all seven! Now how cool is that!

“Peaceful yet close to many adventures”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2018

The location of Genesis is fantastic! A peaceful get-away yet near to many adventures in Smokey Mountain National Park, Townsend truly is the peaceful side of SMNP and was exactly what we were looking for. We ventured to nearby Gatlinburg but did not find it to our liking as it was very busy and commercialized. However, if that is your thing, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are just down the road a short drive. The cabin was ready and well-stocked for the arrival of our group of 9. We could hear and see the Little River but had to access it by the road that runs parallel to the cabin area which was no problem, just an observation. The Little River provides a cool place to splash and tube and was enjoyed a great deal by our grandkids. It was a memorable time and a wonderful nature vacation and we are already planning our return trip!

“The perfect Smokies chalet with plenty of space and fun for all!”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2013

I can't say enough about Genesis! It has all the modern amenities you could ever need, but you're right over the river and it feels like a million miles away from all the hustle and bustle! The hot tub overlooking the river on its own platform is beautiful! It's so relaxing to sit in and hear the river below! The recreation room has a pool table and there are other games onsite to play. There are plenty of books, dvds, and cds. The kitchen is furnished with everything you need to have great meals together. The outside patios and porches (one screened) are perfect for gathering any time of the day! The bedrooms are all so cozy and remind me of a bygone time. The master bathroom is gorgeous with an open tile shower like I've never seen! The grounds are a park-like setting with gorgeous flowers and greenery. There's even an area for a good ol' campfire or cookout! We love Genesis and can't wait for the chance to go back again. This chalet is perfect for a group of friends looking for an adult place together, or it is perfectly suited for families with children. It can sleep 13 comfortably and is a clean chalet. The owner has it tastefully decorated and it has a personal feel too! It will feel like home to you the first time you walk in! We've stayed in many places in the Smokies and this is by far our favorite!

“This is the best cabin I have rented!”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2012

This cabin is the nicest I have stayed at! It was the perfect home base for our family reunion - easy for three generations to gather together and lots of room for separate activities as well. The cabin is very roomy, with lots of comfortable sleeping space, a hot tub with its own private deck, screen porch, multiple open decks with lots of chairs, a pool table, and a fire pit. Everything was in good working order and very clean and there is ample parking. The decor is understated, not loaded with kitsch like some we have rented. It is right up against the park and an easy drive to the main road.
