“heaven on earth...”
We've been to Sri Lanka for the 5th time and travelled a lot all over asia for many years. This was for sure the most relaxing holiday we ever had, and we've been there in august which is not even the best season for Sri Lanka. The house is very nicely furnished, very spacious and has even a huge kitchen...which we never used because the food prepared by Wasanti is just outstanding !!! The best curries we ever had, and wonderful breakfasts !!! The service is great, Sudath is really taking care of every wish and we also had the pleasure to meet Nicole and Bruno, the owners who are very kind and friendly. We will come back for sure!
“Excellent place to stay”
My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in November and we had a great time in Villananda. The house was just perfect! Villanada looks great in the photos but was even better in the flesh! Very well designed - I love the polished concrete floor! It was so comfortable and there was everything we needed at our finger tips. The outside area is great as there is plenty of seating and sun loungers to relax by the pool. The garden opens out onto the beach but it is very quiet so you don't have many people walking past. The owners provided a folder with a local Tuk tuk driver and his prices so you know upfront how much everything costs. We went to the turtle farm which I would recommend. There is also a lady who cooks breakfast and can cook you the most amazing dinner which is very good value. The staff were great as they were so discreet yet we knew if we needed anything we could ask, and to have a Sri Lankan mobile there incase we needed to call the manager was great. Lovely place to go and chill out! Thank you!!
My family and I have just returned from a week at Villa ananda ... and we had a truly fantastic time. The service, which is typically characteristic of the wonderful Sri Lankan people, was first-class and the staff at the villa are brilliant. Sudath, the manager, is always on hand just when you need him and is full of wise suggestions if you want ideas for things to do. We were there with our two boys (aged 4 and 5) and there was more than enough, beyond the idyllic beach and lovely pool, to keep them (and us) entertained - e.g Galle Fort, the turtle farms and river safari at Balapatiya are all good fun. While it is true, as said in other reviews, that there is some traffic noise from the road that runs parallel to the beach, we did not really find it to be a problem. Actualy the "beep beep" of tuk-tuks very soon becomes a familiar sound and as soon as you walk in through the walled entrance you feel cocooned from the hustle and bustle of the road. The only thing we found a bit bothersome was the mosquitos but you will get that wherever you go and there are things you can do (i.e. repellents) to keep them away in the evening. One other ting I should mention is the food. There is limited choice in nearby ambalangoda but plenty of good beachfront restaurants in Hikkaduwa (about 20 mins away). That said, you really don't need to venture out at all because the meals from Sudath and the ladies at the villa are, quite simply, amazing. What is known as "rice and curry" is actually a banquet of about 7 or 8 dishes of delicious, fresh, lovingly prepared homemade food. Even the simple breakfasts of eggs, toast and fresh fruit are glorious. I have said "very good" for comfort because the beds were a little bit too hard for our liking and the polished concrete seating areas, while stunning to look at, are not the most comfortable things to sit on (but the vast amount of cushions certainly do help). All-in-all though, Villa ananda is great and we loved it!
“Stunning place ... a jewel”
We had the best family vacation there. The service is excellent, Suddath and his family and staff are very friendly and helpful. Great architectur and well decorated, spacious place. The kids loved the pool, since the ocean is a bit on the rough side. The only drawback is the main road that is right behind the house an it get´s a little noisy in the morning... other than that: Bruno has build a little paradise there! If we will come to SL again, we´ll will stay there... and if we can afford it, since it´s a little pricy... but defenitley worth the money!!! And the food... excellent!!!
Very friendly and helpful house keeping team who kept the house spotless and yet made themselves very discreet, which enabled use to relax and unwind during our stay. The breakfasts where excellent - we chose Sri Lankan food. We loved the style, layout and ambience of the villa. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. The home provided an amazing view to a fantastic Indian Ocean with the benefit of its own private pool. The villa is situated in an isolated location which is on the main road from Colombo to Galle, but when you are in the villa you can only hear the noise of the ocean. There are bus stops near by which can take you to Colombo or Galle and run frequently. The nearest shops and market where in ambalangoda which is about a 15 minute walk for all your requirements. The thing we liked the best was the solitude and the ever changing ocean view. The thing we liked the least was that we didn't book a longer stay.
“What wonderfull stay @ Sri Lanka !!!”
This is a perfectly located Villa on the ambalangoda Beach in Sri Lanka. We searched for the ideal place without many hotels around, friendly people to have a warm and peaceful holiday. We were very delighted when we arrived to find that the villa was just more as lovely as it seemed in the photos. It's an incredibly convenient location and our holiday went as one of our best we ever had. Bruno the pleasant owner set up the place with hearth and soul. Sudath the manager will anticipate your every wish. He became a beloved friend for us. What a perfect escape from an urban lifestyle and the demands of work !!! We recommend Villananda without any hesitation !!!
