Description

A secluded romantic hideaway, Driftwood Cottage is a beautiful Caribbean-styled, self-catering cottage with large verandah, surrounded by magnificently lush tropical gardens.

It is the perfect place to relax…a large newly refurbished pool is just a couple of steps from the verandah and the cut stone deck is spectacularly surrounded by palms and bougainvillea, orchids and lily ponds. The energetic can swim, the less-so inclined can just dip in every now and then as they retire to the loungers and soak up the sun.

The romantic exterior leads to the even more romantic interior, which boasts a wonderful 18th century four-poster king size bed, and high airy ceilings. The living area is uniquely decorated with lighting and accessories designed by a local potter. There is also cable T.V., a well-stocked library and an additional sofa bed. Voltage is 110.There is a charming bathroom, and fully fitted kitchen area with a BBQ grill by the pool. All linens and towels are included and there is an iron and a hairdryer if needed.

The fabulously large verandah is ideal for enjoying meals, sipping a rum-punch sundowner, or just relaxing in the hammock or loungers. Here you can gaze down at the tempting aquamarine pool, or just soak in the tropical surroundings – the sun shimmers and filters through the greenery, and hummingbirds and bananaquits dart around in their daily business.

Driftwood Cottage is situated on the north coast of Antigua. Five minutes from the airport and a 2-minute walk from Jabberwock Beach – the favourite beach of windsurfers and kite surfers. It is also 5 minutes from 4 excellent restaurants, Le Bistro,Tides, Cecelia's and Ocean Cafe. Boat trips and car hire can be arranged and St John’s and supermarkets are just minutes away.

It is an ideal base from which to explore Antigua, or just relax with a good book. Your hosts John and Sarah Fuller have a wealth of island knowledge; Sarah runs a fantastic little Pottery and shop in St. John’s and John, a famous lawyer on the island is also a history and ecology buff. Both are extremely helpful and eager to make sure your holiday is a memorable one.

“Tropical hideaway with luxury pool”

This was our first stay in Antigua and won’t be the last. Firstly we would like to thank Sarah and John who have been the most amazing hosts. From the moment we arrived they made us feel so welcome. We were a little apprehensive driving when we first arrived and wanted to go to the shops. John kindly drove ahead of us to show us where the supermarket was to help us get used to the roads. (Dont be put off driving, we were confident on the roads in no time at all) Sarah and John have a wealth of knowledge of the island and are always happy to provide any information you need about places to visit, restaurants etc. We were in Antigua Xmas 2019 and they invited us to join their family for Christmas dinner. They would pop by to check we were ok and ask if there was anything we needed or wanted to know throughout our stay. We really liked the fact that they were never intrusive but we knew they were always there if we needed them. Can’t thank you both enough. So that’s the hosts, but what about Driftwood? Driftwood cottage is a converted school house. As previous guests have stated, the bed is huge and very comfortable but it really is the outside space that speaks volumes. The cottage is surrounded by a beautiful veranda. We enjoyed spending time on the veranda sipping away drinks, while watching the beautiful birds swooping down. The colours of them were amazing. The pool, WOW, a good size pool and extremely clean. A lovely way to cool down when sunbathing or returning back from the beach after a hot day. The cottage is in a good location but you do need a car. We could drive anywhere on the island within a 40 minute drive. We had a lovely stay at Driftwood Cottage and hope to return again soon. How do damage deposits work?

If Sarah (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
