“So brilliant, I don't want to tell you all how good it was”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2014

This is a wonderful location and retreat. We would definitely stay again and hope dates are still free when we come to book! We were skeptical at first due to lack of reviews and excellent price but should never have been worried - this place is just simply a bargain. Great place to explore if you don't mind going a bit onto dirt road and going without air conditioning. It was great to get back to nature. The owner ensures to provide you with all the information you require after you make a booking. We witnessed echidna, kangaroos and a kestrel without looking hard. Loved it.

“Perfect location!”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2014

We stayed here with our 2 toddlers for 4 nights. It was perfect, the kids could wander about, climb the fallen tree and at dusk go kangaroo spotting and echidna spotting which they thought was great. The easter egg hunt was perfect too, so many shrubs to hide behind, just open space, it was amazing. So easy with toddlers as we were only 15 minutes from main tourist attractions, important when kids are so young as driving all day isn't much fun for them. We took them to little sahara, seal bay, parndana wildlife park and the bird show. The parndana pub is also 8km away and great for a meal. The house was perfect although with young children (1 and 2) it would have been great to have an extra heater in their rooms as it was hard to keep the fire burning all night and by 4am they were waking cold. Not a problem for us as the quilts were great luxury and very warm. A microwave would have been useful as far as toddlers go as we are constantly reheating food, milk etc. Overall we loved it, you just have to be very organised food wise as it is quite secluded and not like staying in a main town, but thats why we liked it! Would definately stay again.

“Gorgeous home in an incredible location”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2014

Our stay at KI Ecopia was fantastic. The house is stunning and very comfortable. But best of all is the location, which is really central and very easy to get around the whole island. The property is teeming with wildlife, and we spent our evenings walking around the property watching the kangaroos, echidna's and even a few possums! Would definitely recommend to family and friends and would love to stay here again in future.

“Incredible stay”

We stay 3 nigths in this incredible house lost in the middle of bush with kangaroo and possums. Very clean, confortable and quiet. I keep a very good souvenir for this stay in Kangaroo Island. Just something difficult, it is not very easy to find it !

“Ki at its best”

Perfect getaway retreat in beautiful surroundings amidst Wallabies, Possums and Echidnas. Clean and comfortable place, we can highly recommend this place.

“Beautiful views and a well-equipped house in a great location.”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2013

Ki Ecopia is located just over an hour's drive from the township of Penneshaw (where the ferry docks). It might seem a long way to your accommodation when you arrive, but we soon discovered that we were ideally located for many of the main KI attractions; including Seal Bay and Vivonne Beach (the much-touted 'best beach in australia', although it was far too cold when we were there to really appreciate it). The National Park (lots of wildlife, walks and Remarkable Rocks) is at the opposite end of surprisingly large KI to Penneshaw, but a lot closer to KI Ecopia. We also sand-boarded and visited a great raptor display; both within 15 minutes drive of the accommodation. The house itself was spacious (three bedrooms, two bathrooms, comfortable lounge area) and tastefully furnished and set on a large property with beautiful views of surrounding paddocks and bushland. Our family of five was very happy with the property, and the property owners (all communication via email) were very friendly and accommodating, including setting up a high chair and porta-cot for our baby (note that there is no bath, but a large laundry tub). The kitchen was well-equipped, with a good range of crockery, utensils, cookware etc (no dish-washer, and no supplies beyond tea, coffee, sugar... unless the preceding guests have left some). The supermarket in Penneshaw had great produce and quite a few gourmet products. It's best to stock up before leaving Penneshaw as other closer shops didn't seem to offer the same quality or variety and it's too far to just pop back there. I would recommend this house to families looking for some peace amidst beautiful natural surrounds, without having to sacrifice home comforts.

“Beautiful home in stunning location”

Reviewed 26 Mar 2013

A beautiful home with real charm and character, and a luxurious feel! It is in a stunning bush setting - we saw echidnas and kangaroos close to the house - a very special spot. The perfect place to escape to after a day out enjoying the National Parks of KI. An added bonus is that all parts of the island are easily accessible from here. You are also fairly close to shops in Parndana. The only thing I can find fault with is the lack of dishwasher, deliberately absent for very good eco water/power-saving reasons I think, but on holiday it is nice to have one! Otherwise highly recommended!!!

“A Beautiful Escape!”

Reviewed 3 Feb 2013

A truly lovely place! I came here in November with my boyfriend and my parents who were visiting from UK. Location: Perfect. Very rural, but that just made it perfect for us. Really feels like you're getting away. Is a lovely place to relax and enjoy your surroundings and see all the wildlife. Its so peaceful at night, all you can hear is owls and other creatures (? possums?!) You'll see the roos at dusk and dawn(if you get up for an early morning walk!) and there are endless koalas, goannas, echidnas by the road when you're driving around. No light pollution lends well to some great star gazing at night! Well located for all the south coast attractions. Didn't find time to do the north coast, though having driven through Kingscote and Pennishaw don't think we missed out on much tip: Bring all provisions with you and fill up on fuel on the mainland. Things are very expensive here and the only supermarket is in Kingscote which is a fair bumpy drive from everywhere. Accommodation: Fabulous. Beautifully done out. Very comfy beds with high quality bed linen (nice touch) Great (efficient) wood burner in the lounge. We had a great few days here. We enjoying going out in the day so see the sights, and getting back early evening (cause we were tired and hungry) and then cooked together (once on the BBQ) and enjoyed a few bottles of wine(between us!) and relaxed with the great views on the balcony and also watched the sunset from the cabin. A fab place. Would definitely come back to KI and would stay at Ecopia again without a doubt. Thank You!

“a beautiful property where the rest of the world just slips away”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2012

This is a beautiful property where the rest of the world just slips away. The views from the house are stunning. We stayed here for several weeks over Christmas time and just loved the tranquillity. A perfect spot from which to explore the Island. The house is very comfortable and welcoming. The beds are a treat and we look forward to returning one day.
