“Excellent Family Vacation”
This is a beautiful property. Our kids had a wonderful stay, and are already asking to come back again. The owner was very helpful and everything we could possibly need was available to us.
“Most serene beautiful place!”
I would highly recommend this place. Roomy airy beautiful scenery lots of different things to do! The river was beautiful and refreshing! Sitting out on the porch in evening watching fireflies hearing all the different sounds so relaxing! And best of all was Diana Spence the owner caretaker and most thoughtful helpful willing to go out of her way to make sure all accomadations were taken care of. The farmhouse is beautiful and is very comfortable! Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be going back again! Thank you so much for the hospitality!!!
“Wonderful vacation--can't wait to return to Spence Cove!”
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. We all enjoyed tubing the river, sitting by the fire in the evenings, and exploring the area. The location was perfect--peaceful and quiet yet so close to all the attractions. We will definitely stay here again!
Response from the owner Thank you for such a great review. Delivering firewood to the river bank, I came upon a picture perfect scene: Your family gathered around a gorgeous fire with the river in the background. What a photo that would've made. You all win the prize for the best looking campfire ever! We will be happy to have you back up on the River anytime.
“Perfect Vacation Home”
Our group included our 3 children, 2 daughter-in-laws, and 2 grandkids (2 and 9). The house was warm and welcoming. Fishing, tubing, relaxing on the front porch, hiking in the Smoky Moutains, and exploring the surounding towns was a grand adventure for all! The house was all it claimed to be and more. It was the best equipped home we have rented, in the 20+ years we have rented vacation homes. We had a wonderful vacation, made great by the home and all it had to offer.
Response from the owner Thank you for taking time to provide a review. We are so glad you chose Spence Cove and the Farmhouse for your family gathering. And, that it exceeded your expectations! It was great to meet such happy and energetic folks. Come back soon. There's lots more of the River and Mountain to explore and plenty more fish to catch!
My family stayed here over Memorial Day Weekend and had a great time. We have stayed in many rentals in the Sevierville, Gatlinburg, and Townsend areas and this place ranks right at the top. You could not ask for a better location if you enjoy fishing. We caught several fish including trout and the young children enjoyed tubing on the river. Sitting on the porch with a cold beverage and just watching the river go by was a favorite pastime. It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but back roads will have you in Pigeon Forge in no time. The house is well appointed and we were easily able to cook all of our meals for 7 people. The kids had a great time with the video game system while the adults were content to just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of the porch swing and rocking chairs. Most relaxing weekend I have had in a long time and will definitely return in the future.
Response from the owner Thank you for the review. Some folks choose to just use the place like a hotel - and that's fine with us. But when families like yours stay and play (& relax!), we are especially glad to know our guests have experienced the wonder and beauty of Spence Cove. Thank you for being great guests. We look forward to your next visit!
“A Beautiful, Relaxing Escape”
Our group of 7, grandparents, parents and grandchildren, enjoyed a wonderful long Memorial Day weekend at the Spence Cove Farmhouse. Everything we could could possibly need had been anticipated and provided in this beautiful, peaceful, secluded paradise. We were content to spend our days fishing, swimming, tubing, grilling and playing games but Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are just a short drive away if you want more activities. The house is spacious and clean and the porch is the perfect spot to visit as you listen to the river while enjoying the rocking chairs or swing. We'll be back!
Response from the owner Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It is a joy for us to know you all had a great vacation; and that the River, Farmhouse, and surroundings provided the setting! Come Back Soon!
“What a beautiful place to relax and unwind...”
Getting to this wonderful place was much like driving out of one world into another. The sound of the flowing river from just across the road and the views from the front porch will make you forget that that you will likely be sleeping indoors.
Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. We are glad you all enjoyed your stay. Bring the kids back soon for tubing and fishing on the river!
“Peaceful family time in the smokies on a beautiful river!”
My family (2 adults, 2 boys and a standard poodle)has stayed at Spence Cove a number of times over the past few years and we have loved it! The river front is flat and welcoming with comfortable places to build a fire and roast marshmallows, easy access to the water for dogs or children, and a great swimming hole known to also have some fish! A short walk up the road and you can put in your tubes and have a relaxing ride down one of the cleanest rivers in the Smokies! The house is great - mostly because of the shady lawn and endless porch. The breezes down through the mountain valley make it comfortable to sit on the porch swing even in July. The views from the upstairs bedrooms are rural and relaxing - no looking into a neighbor's house or yard. The two story lay out provides privacy and yet the house is large enough to welcome a family and make them very comfortable. The Smoky Mountain National Park is very close with many great hiking trails. The location is so convenient to Pigeon Forge that, if you listen closely, you can hear the whistle of the train at Dollywood!
Response from the owner Thank you for letting us know about your stays. We are especially pleased when our guests take full advantage of all the property has to offer. Yes, the Maple, Poplar, and Pecan trees surrounding the house certainly do provide a canopy of cover from the hot summer sun. The large black gum tree on the riverbank also provides river goers with nice shade. There are breezes coming off the river and down from the mountains, so it never seems to get too hot. When we were considering a name for the farmhouse, we almost went with "Cool and Green and Shady" (like the John Denver song)! The house layout does indeed provide guests with opportunities for privacy or "alone time", yet the gathering rooms accomodate all. We look forward to your next stay-don't wait too long, your boys need to catch some bigger fish!
“Restful, peaceful and refreshing best describes this invigoratin”
It's hard to describe the peace and relaxation we found in a short-term rental; so far from the hubub of the tourist route, yet close to every tourist's destination of Sevierville (Dolly's Homeplace), Gatlinburg (after whom, Larry Gatlin and his folks were named), and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! You can bet, next vacation we take to Tennessee, we know where we'll be staying! It was a "home away from home", during our stay.
Response from the owner We are so happy that you enjoyed your time up on the river at the farmhouse. Thank you for taking the time to let us know and hope you all will make your way to Tennessee again soon. Great last name, by the way!
