“One of the nicest places you will find in the NC mountains”
We have rented many cabins in the mountains of NC and Granny Mandy stands out above all the rest. Just the last few miles of driving up to the cabin will tell you that you've come to the right place. The short drive from the little town of Lansing is picturesque and the closer you get to On the Windfall, the prettier it gets. Once there you can park your car and not get in it again until you leave. Everything you would want in a mountain vacation is right there on the property. An outside fireplace on the covered porch, an indoor fireplace, a huge outdoor fire pit, a lake, fishing, trails, long range views from your deck and even longer range from the top of the mountain. The cabin itself is topnotch. The furnishings, ambiance, nicely equipped kitchen, sizable bedrooms and bathrooms make you feel pampered in a rustic setting. Every time we go we find a new amenity the Fords have created to make On the Windfall an even more fun and enjoyable place than it was the time before. It's their passion and it shows. I recommend this place to all of my friends and they have all loved it.
Response from the owner Thanks much for your wonderful review. We appreciate your visits and look forward to seeing you and sharing fireside chats in future years. George and Carole
“We really get away”
So many times everyone tries to "get away from the rat race" on vacation, this is where to go! Quite, secluded, cell signal weak enough to claim you had none. Beautiful views, enjoying the outdoors, and perhaps for days, never even letting your feet touch the pavement in civilization. For those that want to sightsee, still close enough, but be careful to spend your entire days out and about, and miss out on the many gems that are around your cabin.
Response from the owner Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate our guests and enjoy meeting some fantastic people. Hope to see you back here soon. George and Carole
“What a great house and location !”
We have rented this house on several occasions over the years! It is a great house - very comfortable. Great location with great views. If you are looking for a private retreat but with all the amenities, you have found it! Love the private hot tub and patio! The mater suite is awesome! The owners are very friendly and have taken no shortcuts in this house!
Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to post. We appreciate your kind words. George and Carole
“A place for peaceful relaxation, fishing and evening fires!”
The craftsmanship is top notch on this secluded getaway with a beautifully designed and decorated cottage. The kitchen is very well stocked and the fireplaces, one inside and one outside are a key feature, adding wonderful appeal and coziness. We have visited several times, sharing it with our friends and family members. We like everything about this mountain retreat, from fishing the stocked pond, hiking to the ridge for the wonderful views, sitting by the fire and gazing at the stars, it's one of our favorite places!
Response from the owner Thank you for your review. We are so pleased to have repeat vists from you, your family, and friends. Thanks !!! George and Carole
My family soo much enjoyed it's stay at Granny Mandy that we fully intend to return. The cabin is beautiful and well laid out. The views are gorgeous and the wildlife abundant, especially watching the birds. While it practically rained our entire trip the cabin and the grounds kept us busy with hiking and playing games by the outside fireplace. The outside fireplace is covered by a roof which kept us dry and comfortable while we enjoyed the sound of the rain. We never got cabin fever and the cabin itself lacked no amenities. The owners are warm and friendly and we have recommended this cabin to many of our friends.
