“Great for families at a low cost”
We recently stay at the Casitas and appreciated its size and layout: having two bedrooms suited our family of four. We picked the spot based on its close location to downtown and its price, and it was excellent on both counts. The neighborhood may not be to everyone's taste but it was calm and convenient, and the Casitas are immaculately cared for and private. We noticed one issue which any downtown location can't avoid: there are a lot of train horns that sound at night, so much so that I wish I had brought earplugs or a white noise machine. I did a google search and saw that this is a common problem noted in San antonio hotels in the downtown/riverwalk areas; residents apparently get used to it, but tourists may not get a good night's sleep unless their hotel is soundproofed. I just wish I had come prepared! Our hosts were responsive and the place was spotless and lovely, so I do want to give it a strong recommendation.
“Casitas de Color in San antonio, Texas”
I contracted with Ester and Barry for a lodging for a small group of 20 faith-based leaders. I cannot tell you how utterly thrilled I was with our stay. Each of the 12 Casitas had a different theme. My Casita had 2 full size bedrooms for sleeping but also had a living room, full bathroom, full kitchen with full-size refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer, and kitchenette. The service was excellent and the oasis atmosphere at the Casita complex was beautiful. The premises were very clean and trash was picked up twice per day. In addition, the Casita complex had a place for our group to have a barbecue and also had plenty of parking for all of us. It should be noted that Ester and Barry gave us a great rate since we were a faith-based group. There was no other hotel arrangement that could be the price and quality we received. I highly recommend this place for a family vacation or group stay. It was 8 minutes from downtown San antonio, which made going to the tourist attractions a breeze. To our surprise, there is a bus stop very close to the Casita complex which made accessing the tourist attractions accessible, easy, and convenient. Once again, I highly recommend the Casita complex to anyone travelling to San antonio that wants a new adventure in this beautiful inner-city oasis and "home away from home!"
“A little taste of San antonio...with character”
We had a group of 20 stay in four of the Casitas de Color. Each Casita had its own personality - they were lovingly and thoughtfully decorated. Most had kitchens with stoves, microwaves, and refrigerators. One of them had a washer and dryer. During our stay, the owners were very accommodating and provided what was asked for. I would stay here again.
“Casitas de clean, comfortable, accessible, and quiet!”
I have traveled extensively. Not one who prefers to use "chain" establishments when I have an option. The hosts at the casitas are San antonio "experts!" In other words they know where, and what a traveler like me needs. A great price, safe parking, cleanliness, plenty of hot water, a comfortable bed, and intimate information about the surroundings that I can't get online. It is actually in a neighborhood, so there are no neon lights, and traffic. Just crickets and an occasional train horn. (You can walk downtown/the Riverwalk or catch the trolley from St. Paul's Square!) If you like "out of the way" locations and accessibility to everything Sa has to offer, this is your place. This is definitely a "diamond in the rough" I will recommend to friends and family. (Thanks for the fresh basil Esther!!!) oh... There is a drug store, and a grocery store nearby. For my night out at the riverwalk, I called a driver and it was a 5 min. drive to the convention center, and mall. It's about 30 mins from Sea World and Fiesta Texas. Very easy access to all the major freeways. (IH 35, Ih10, and IH 37.)
