“A gorgeous escape”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2013

Our group stayed at Coasting in March and couldn't have been happier with the accommodation. We were 4 adults and a 13 month old. The house and grounds are breath taking---think tropical flowers, a view to die for, birds galore, patios with hammocks etc. Just spectacular! The house was immaculate and cleaned while we were there. The roads are a bit rough to drive and the distances are far, but this didn't stop us! We ate locally, just picking up Roti and various local ingredients at little shops during our adventures. We never ventured back to Scarborough for groceries because we just didn't want to take time away from the beach. Englishman's Bay was a beautiful beach where we enjoyed lunch and a lazy afternoon in the shade (on more than one occasion). We also looked forward to Bloods Bay beach, an easy walk from the house, where we were usually the only folks around. We took two long drives around the remote part of the island, stopping to swim along the way. If you are concerned about safety, this remote part of the island feels far away from the problems that plague the city or the more touristy areas. We were at ease and would love to return in the future. My only suggestion is to bring a frozen cooler of food if you don't want to make the trip into Scarborough to grocery shop. The little food shops around Castara are small and the pickings are slim.

“Rain Forest Paradise”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2012

My family and I had a wonderful week at Coastings in late July 2012. Our flight was badly delayed coming in so we arrived at the house after dark, having followed Freddie from the airport. I booked the house some months in advance and had forgotten most of the detail about the place as had the rest of the family. So on our first morning having wiped the sleepy dust from our eyes and allowing our eyes to adjust to the bright Tobago sun, we stared in amazement at our beautiful surroundings! The house dogs sidled over for attention (and food!) and we spent the next couple of hours getting used to our garden paradise. Coastings is remote and the locals shops only 10 mins down the road are a pleasure to visit but lack choice, so get stocked at Pennysavers on your way in. The Sunshine restaurant 2k's away has good food on offer, but again the choice is limited. Vaness the owner is charming (there is something Whoppi Goldberg about her voice!) and believe me you wont go hungry. The house is clean, comfortable and well provisioned with pots, pans and plates etc. Do yourself a favour, book some time at Coastings and experience a slice of the "off the beaten track" Tobago.

“Awesome location, villa and surroundings.”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2012

We stayed as a group of 4 at Coasting in March this year. Where do I start? The villa itself has everything you need - it has all the facilities you need, is beautifully decorated and is a real home frm home but with the extra benefit of an amazing location. The views are awesome and every evening was spent on the veranda watching the fireflies. You do need a car but with that comes the freedom to explore - rainforest walks galore on your doorstep, beautiful beaches and lovely villages - all within easy distance. Everyone made us feel really welcome and we felt completely safe wherever we went. Fred and Cindy were staying in their beach house whilst we were there and were always on hand with helpful hints and tips but in a very unobtrusive way. Simply said, the island is beautiful, the villa is amazing and we really hope to be able to stay again at some time in the future.

“Need To Get Back To Coasting”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2012

It is almost painful writing this review as we sit and remember our visits to Coasting. The villa, the hosts, the location... all combine to make this an idyllic and magical place. We have enjoyed C&F;'s company a number of times and literally count the number of sleeps till our departure as a child anticipates Christmas. The slow arch of the beach, the villa perched high above the waves, the bird's drifting by, the local flavours... I should check to see if I can leave right now!!
