“Perfect peace”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2016

I visited Kate's cottage during my birthday week. I desperately needed some peace from the hustle and bustle of living in Los Angeles. Arriving at the cottage, I was stunned silent as I marveled at the pretty cottage and the surrounding greenery. Grazing lazily right in front, on the farm opposite, were three cows who became my friends during my week stay. Martin met me on the first day and assisted me with getting a bike since I couldn't rent a car. The kitchen was stocked with pantry essentials and my hosts were so gracious as to provide bread and milk. I was then shown how to light the old fashioned stove. I spent many a night seated in the rocking chair basking in the warmth and aroma of the turf fire. The living room was cozy and furnished beautifully. I was quite grateful for the several heating options in the house. The beds have an electric blanket which I most certainly utilized as I was not accustomed to such cold coming from California. Also I loved how clean the entire home was -- I do apologize for making a bit of a mess. My favorite part of the day was sitting in the back porch on the stone bench table and eating breakfast as I watched the sun cast an orange glow as it took up its post for the day. I was astounded by the views to the sea. Take note that the cottage is walking distance to the cliffs. I would also recommend taking a trip down to Doolin as it is a quaint town. Did I find the peace I so ardently sought? Yes I did and more. I am definitely returning here for my next birthday. Though set in the countryside, one does not feel isolated especially with modern conveniences such as internet and television. I worried about being lonely in a cottage but my fears were all for naught Thank you Breda and Martin for being so wonderful. I cannot wait to return next year!
