“beautiful oasis in the centre of the medina”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2012

Staying here was the most amazing experience. Beautifully restored and maintained, the house is half the experience. The other half - the medina - is all around. The house is maintained by neighbours who were very helpful. Recommended.

“una semana extraordinaria.”

Casa tradicional exquisitamente restaurada, con una terraza estupenda con unas vistas de Fes y sus mezquitas maravillosa. Las camas son muy cómodas, los baños preciosos.

“beautifully renovated riad at the heart of the medina”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2012

The house has been beautifully renovated with lovely attention to detail, its much better than the photos! It's located in the medina & provides with a genuine view on local people living their daily lives. It's a 5-10 min walk from one of the main medina hubs (place R'cif) a 2 mins walk to a taxi area which can get you to Bab bou jeloud which only takes about 5 minutes and costs about 7-10 dirhams: it's close enough to roam through some of the essential parts of the medina & just far enough to also experience s/t more authentic and quiet. The friendly amina runs the daily routine at the Riad. (she leaves next door). And she is a great cook. We stayed for 11 nights. With an 18month old, it felt right. Without children & more time on your hand, 5 days in Fes feels about right.

“A World away”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2012

From our first enquirey about this property the service provided was excellent; prompt, friendly and always very helpful. By arrangement with the owner, we were met on arrival at Fes airport and taken to an area in the the Medina close to the house where amina and Rachid, caretakers of Dar Daheb, were waiting to greet us. We set off, following them through century old passageways, feeling we were entering a different time. On arriving at the house, Racheed opened the heavy metal door revealing an interior that was light filled, visually delightful and greatly in contrast to the world outside. We loved our stay at Dar Daheb. It was a wonderful experience for both ourselves and our adult son - always a pleasure. We were well looked after by amina and enjoyed several of her delicious, home cooked evening meals. Amazingly she managed to accommodate both my food intolerances and my son's vegetarianism, which was pretty impressive. We enjoyed the adventure of exploring Fes on our own, shopping in the local market, day trips to Meknes, Volubilus and Sefrou. The views from the roof terrace were amazing and always different in the changing light. The steep stairs may be a problem for some, though as a mature couple we did not find it so.

Excellent for all points...welcoming, house, situation, food, etc...

“Beautiful, authentic Fes experience with charming service”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2012

We stayed a week in this little house carefully restored by local craftsmen with love and attention to detail. Amina looked after us so well with excellent breakfasts - I took away recipes for the wonderful juices she made. Everything was perfect - except for the weather which was unseasonably wet! But scurrying about the maze of allyways around the medina kept us occupied. I can't recommend the holiday more highly.
