“An awesome, relaxing family vacation!”

Reviewed 24 May 2012

We are a family of 5 and often have trouble finding locations to stay that can house 5 people easily. This beautiful, fully furnished cabin had everything we needed and more. The view from the front screened in porch of the lake was our favorite spot especially early in the morning when the sun was coming up. The cabin was so well equiped with bedding, towels, paper products, dishes, cookware, etc... things we forgot were there for us. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Our kids so enjoyed being able to fish, kayak, swim, use the paddle boat, have a tour in the new grandlake canoe, hike, walk, or just sit and relax and have a picnic outside next to the evening campfire and lake. Richard and Sally Hescock were excellent hosts. They made us feel so at home and anything we needed, they were always available to help us out. They both were super friendly and helpful. On one of our trips, we even stayed in one of their camper sites with our pop-up camper and had a wonderful stay also. We were all excited to see a moose on one of our trips driving around. We also loved to see and hear the Loons on the lake. It is hard to describe how much we all enjoyed this vacation. Not one of us in the family wanted to leave there. I would highly recommend it to anyone that loves a relaxing atmosphere, loves nature and its natural beauty, and wants to get away from their hectic schedules. We hope to visit again there soon.

“Always the best time.”

My family and I have been coming to Birchwood Cottages for 8 years and love it more every time. We fish, boat, visit, and roam the back roads for wildlife. We love everything about our stay and look forward to the next year.

“Serenity found”

The Birchwood Cottages in Brookton<, Maine are a step back in time, when people enjoyed each others company, talked, swam, fished, enjoyed beautiful sunsets, listened to the loon, and heard the sound of silence. Your hosts Richard and Sally will do everything in their power to make your stay enjoyable or will be invisible if you choose. The cabins are neat and well stocked, all with a screened in porch looking at the lake. I take a group fishing, and have for a lot of years, to the Birchwood Cottages and highly recommend them. “The fishing is worth an 17 hour trip”

Reviewed 1 Mar 2012

Four of us have gone the past five years for the fishing. The fishing on Lake Jackson is pretty good and the small mouth bass are good size and really "fight". Although you don't catch alot of fish, the ones you catch make you feel great. There are alot of lakes within 1/2 hour where you can fish as well. We liked the fact that we can rent boats and Richard keeps them full of gas (the motors could use some work). We haul our own trolling motors and batteries, it would be great if they had them there to use. The accomodations are very good, everything you need is in the cabins. Our stays there have always been very relaxful, and Richard & Sally are great hosts and would do anything to make our stay great.
