“Heaven”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2013

We stayed at the Villa June 2012. We had hoped for a quiet, peaceful place and I can honestly say this absolutely fitted the bill. The villa is stunningly beautiful and is set in fabulous rolling Umbrian scenery. When we were there the fields all around were golden, studded with scarlet poppies - a real picture. The villa has everything, and could not have been more comfortable. So for us, most days were spent lazing by the pool, eating the fabulous local produce, and drinking the (very reasonable) local wine. The most striking thing though is the birdsong. The villa is close to the edge of a dense wood, and every day we saw and heard the most fantastic birds - including what we thought (and hoped) might be a nightingale, singing his heart out in the middle of the night. You can mark the hours by the ancient church bells in the sleepy villages on the hilltops all around. So if its peace and absolute serenity you're after, this is your place. We'll be back!

For us La Mulinella was idyllic, from the thick stone walls and curved ceilings of the house itself to the unique view out of each window. It's rustic charm combined with every mod-con makes for the most relaxing holiday. The only problem for our family of four, children aged seven and twelve was that everytime we left the house all we wanted to do was get back to it!!(if you call that a problem)Ping pong by the pool, hammocks in the shade, a bread/dough maker and last but defeniteley not least a traditional wood burning pizza oven.It is "A little gem" We thank the family for being so helpful and sharing their wonderful home with us...

“A superbly equipped house in idyllic surroundings.”

Kate and her family were returning to Ireland as we arrived, so we had a personal handover and briefing on this old, but modern, Mill House, tucked away in a valley of rolling hills, fields and woods. As one of Kate's first "non-family/friends" to rent the property, there were small anomalies in some aspects of the house and contents that amused rather than annoyed, but doubtless the learning curve of making your dream home, as opposed to a holiday let, available to strangers is a steep one. The pool does not have a shallow end, and the house is probably better suited to families with teenage children and good swimmers of all ages.

Kate was wonderful to deal with and very helpful while we were sorting out some practical pre-travel issues. We had a wonderful time in Umbria and we absolutely loved this house! It offered total privacy whilst being very close to some of the most beautiful places in Umbria. It was exactly the kind of place we were looking for and I was impressed with how comfortably it 'fitted'.   We took some time to visit Perugia, Assisi, the Perugina chocolate factory, Gubbio, Bevagna, Montefalco and enjoyed every minute, but we were also always happy to go back 'home' and spend some time at the pool, playing table tennis, reading a book, relaxing. We did some business with your neighbours and bought 2 cans of 'your' olive oil ! We had a great time and I hope we will be able to go back soon.

“Everything, and more, than we had hoped for!”

Our whole family loved this place - it is now described by our children as, "Our place in Umbria". We relaxed into it immediately and were able to feel at home. The welcoming housekeeper and the invitation to use what was there, just replace it, set the tone. The setting is lovely, the house has everything you need, with mostly modern furnishings. Having the pool and table tennis area directly beside the living area is great. Everyone could wander in and out and do their own thing. A car is a must. The local supermarket in Deruta was easy to find, well stocked and had friendly staff. Day trips to Perugia and assisi were easy to do. Some favourite memories - views of the vines and sunflowers and the relaxed, long lunches at the table out the back.

“Eat sleep read and lots of sun”

A little piece of heaven, just what we needed after a busy school and working year, grab the shopping before you arrive so you can take full advantage of the peace and tranquillity you get in this villa, you wont want to leave. We did eventually:- restaurant in easy walking distance, children walked there during the day to buy ice cream We explored some wonderful small town's Todi and assisi beautiful, larger ones like Perugia beautiful as well, are all within easy distance. Great value for restaurant's in Umbria Kitchen well stocked (for the budding Italian chef) house has all that's needed. Pool wonderful a necessity in Italy. Will definitely be back

La Mulinella is guaranteed to make your Italian Vacation a memorable One!!! A definite highlight of our six weeks in Italy was our stay at La Mulinella, Umbria. Situated is in a picturesque setting of a charming converted Mill located close to shopping all within a quick 10-15 minutes drive to surrounding villages and larger historical towns with local artisans displaying their treasures. If you prefer to just relax, read or swim the charming casa and pool area offers a tranquil private setting. The new architecture of the Mill has been tastefully accomplished with blending the past into the present. The chef in you will be delighted with this fully equipped kitchen and all the other comforts of home.
