“A fantastic family holiday destination for exploring Wexford”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2012

We have stayed on 3 occasions in the last year in Ballagh Court and each time we have throughly enjoyed our visits. Richard and Salvia have created an oasis in the heart of the beauitiful County Wexford countryside that is a wonderful retreat for families and a great location for exploring the south east of Ireland. The cottages are exceptional well equiped - you literally just need to bring your clothes. They have thought of everything and are both wonderful hosts. Our 5 year old daughter absolutely loves this place and there is often tears when we have to depart. Our stays have made all the more pleasurable with help from Maggie the dog, Stanley the cat, the pigs, hens and ducks. The local area has much to offer from award winning beaches to the Dunbrody Famine ship, beautiful country estates and museums and numerous mini farms. If you are looking for somewhere to stay that feels just like home I would highly recommend a visit to Ballagh Court.

“We found distant relations and made new friends in County Wexfor”

We rented a cottage at Ballagh Court in order to search for the Irish ancestors left behind when my great-great-great-grandfather Moses emigrated to the United States. Ballagh Court placed us in the seat of the Delaney family in County Wexford. What a great home base to explore the history of the family and the historic uprising of 1798 (in which we suspect my great-great-great-grandfather participated). The rural setting of Ballagh Court and its past history as a working farm made us feel that we were more than just visitors to Ireland. The peace and quiet was a tonic after our visit to Dublin. Our accommodations were well equipped with a full, modern kitchen which allowed us to save money by living off of the economy, rather than dining out for most meals. It was clean and well kept with an large bathroom and an ample bedroom. Our hosts, Richard and Salvia Daly, were great fun and helped us with some of our family search. Maggie the Weimaraner dog and Stanley the cat made us feel at home, and helped us miss just a little less our cats and dogs left at home. A great place to stay!!

“A genuine welcome, wonderful facilities, calming relaxation...”

We as a family have been back several times now. Richard and Salvia have been nothing if not the most gracious of hosts - nothing is too much bother! The houses are very well appointed - like a home from home. The green, rolling countryside is a balm to the senses. There is a loop walk in the immediate neigbourhood where we saw lambs frolicking. A drive away is fabulous beaches (where the movie "Private Ryan" was filmed!), a Heritage Park, a famine ship, an aboretum, a castle etc, etc.. As arnie would say "we'll be back..."
